IT LIVES!!! My DJI Mini 3 Pro is back…

  • While on vacation in China, I crashed my Mini 3 Pro into a building.
Miraculously…or perhaps just another example of DJI’s awesome engineering…the little guy was able to regain control after a tumble and safely returned to home. But it did sustain some major damage…
One side of gimbal arm completely broke off, as well as a piece of the body. The camera still worked, but was dangling. Several of the propellers were cracked and splitting.
We were in Chengdu (成都), which is one of the major cities in China, so it had several DJI stores. We took the injured bird to one of them, expecting to drop it off and get it repaired on the spot. However, they informed us that they don’t accept service requests in person. One has to submit the request online, then mail the item in.
Once they receive it, DJI will assess the damage and provide an estimate for repair. If you approve it, they will do the work, then send it back to you.
Well, let me just tell you, the turnaround super quick:
My accident happened on a Thursday night. I tried taking it in to the DJI store on Friday, and was shown how the process works. A courier picked it up on Saturday morning. The following day (Sunday), they emailed the estimate which I approved. By Tuesday it was back in our hands.
4 days and $63 USD later, my drone has been repaired. And as I found out after testing it out, it’s as good as new.
I’m sure this process would take a bit longer in the US, and likely cost a bit more. But, I have to say, I am super impressed with DJI’s work. They just reaffirmed why they are the leader in the consumer drone market.
This Mini 3 Pro is my third DJI product…second drone…and it will not be the last.

@@crossfitislife I think it would’ve been more if I got it done in the U.S.

How long did it take until you got it back? I have sent mine to DJI last week. Had the same issue, flew into an obstacle from the side.

It got picked up on Saturday morning and was back by Tuesday.
To be clear, this was in Chengdu, China…where there is a DJI repair center. If you’re in the U.S., I think there’s only one in California. I could be wrong, though.
