I have to completely agree with You, Dave. Rode 2-stroke all these years and still have one at 49yrs old. I want to enjoy current MX. It's not working for Me, sounds all wrong...
Reed is the man. Must respect because he is still out there racing and enjoying himself. I remember seeing him race as a 15yr old in Australia and it was crazy.
I read an article recently about Chad's old Factory YZ250...The writer got a chance to ride that bike. He said it was one the most dangerous, explosive powerband bikes he had ever been on...and he is a tester for a magazine. He called it borderline unrideable. I want a turn!!!!!
@@rickfeith6372 the YZ 250B 1975 model, had a similar type of powerband, by the sound of it! I have had people test ride mine, and get off it, shaking,, back in the old days of course..
That was some good motocross! Chad Reed is still in there doing it every weekend with all the young whippersnappers. You have to give some serious respect to that guy, for his determination. He is one of the greatest of all time too. We all know Ricky is too.
Chad has beaten RC many times including coming from behind, he has a few over Ricky straight up at Daytona also where Ricky did not have the pace at the end to keep up. I think a lot of people forgot how strong Chad was in his peak at the end of races.
He would of done well in 04 against him if RC wasn’t hurt, the first year for the aluminum frame was trash. Way too rigid for the way chad rides, he hated that bike and it cost him. Ricky had the ability to ride about anything no matter how it was set up or what bike it was, that’s rare... reed has and always will be about feel, it has to be perfect, which there’s nothing wrong with that. He’s also beat James straight up, Chad is a bad dude and the amount of title doesn’t show it (kinda like windham), if it wasn’t for RC and then James, chad would of beat McGrath’s record of titles and race wins I believe.
@@TwistLosi I don't think RC was ever beaten at Daytona. I don't think RC ever "did not have the pace at the end to keep up", ever in his 250/450 pro career. For his pro career, RC raced 21 different pro series, (outdoor and SX), and retired with about an 83% win average. Once he had a points lead in any series, he never lost it. Let those 2 facts sink in to correct reality for you. :) But you are right about how fast he was. He was one of the only guys who could challenge RC, and probably challenged him, and beat him more often than anybody else.
Oh yea, he beat RC a few times straight up in SX, but never for a championship, (and never outdoors straight up). Those 2 were really competitive back then, very close SX racing, (Outdoors, RC was gone). They were so close, many races pretty much depended how nasty the whoop sections were. RC was not as good in the whoops as Chad was, but a little better everywhere else. If the track had 2 nasty whoop sections, than the odds were Chad would have a strong shot of winning. I saw RC's greatness back then, and predicted he would win 15 championships, (over double of what had been done before), and he did.

dave_mx85 Agree. 4 strokes more expensive to buy and much more to maintain. Makes getting into an expensive sport inaccessible for a lot of riders and families. Plus u need a 450 4 to compete with a 250 2. BRING BACK THE REAL BIKES AND THE 500 CLASS!!!!!
john henriques 500cc 2-Strokes died out in the early 1990s for a reason...as technology advanced the 2-Stroke 250's started getting FAST... look at lap times from 500cc Pro races at place like Southwick and then compare it to a 2003 250cc lap time...
I know it’s good dirt. But does anyone corner like that even now? Chad was a great bowl turn rider. RC was good at any turn. I was always amazed at how fast RC could find a small inside rut, and get in and out “with good momentum!” Doesn’t show much on this track, but he did that well. This shows Chads Bowl ability in a few areas.
Little did they know what was too come (they had an idea after James let reed by outdoors then pass him again) lol. Love chad though, one of the best to ever do it. He raced with arguable the two best riders that have ever lived, in their primes
