F1 2024 Bahrain GP Qualifying Data Analysis - What Did We Learn?

Qualifying for the Bahrain grand prix is over and it is Max Verstappen on pole position in the Red Bull but this does not mean it is season over as he was in close competition with the Ferrari of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz as well as the Mercedes of George Russell and Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso, but what does this mean well in this video we are going to be looking at the data from qualifying to try and understand what the order might be at the Bahrain grand prix and we will also be talking about what Lewis Hamilton can do as well as the Mclaren's of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri as Mclaren seemed to underperform in this session.
We are also going to be talking about the disaster which was the Alpine and the Haas as Nico Hulkenberg put in a very strong performance.

Wow it was very close! Surpises Alpine 19th and 20th. I thought they were at risk of going out in q1 but thought more likely 16th and 17th, not 19th and 20th.
What an incredible job for Hulkenburg! Lets see what Haas tyre life is like because he was a regular in Q3 last year but Haas couldnt get tyre life right.
Another solid job for Alex in P13. Q2 is what I expect from him most races 😊 Maybe can get a point tomorrow. Fingers crossed 🤞
Points for Albon would be incredible, he might need a bit of help from the front with an incident or reliability, I'm interested to see how Haas get on

Lewis had a snap out of turn 4 in Q3 which prevented him from joining George on the 2nd row.
which means the car isn't well balanced.

It was driver error
I'd predict a 4th for GR and a 6th for Lewis (relative to Merc), Charles maintaining 2nd with Carlos 5th and Perez getting that last podium (with 1st place being obvious)
Yeah that's a fairly solid prediction to be fair, I might have been harsh on Russell
Lando made serveral mistakes in sector 1, he was way down on his PB in that sector, he clawed back a lot of time in sector 2 and 3. Was on target for P2 if he didn't mess that first sector so badly.
I agree with that... Lets hope he'll have a good race pace in the race
I hope you're right, there could have been more hopefully he has a better race, but it will be close with the competition

Max used his new set of tires for his first run in Q2 rather than a second run when The track has evolved. By Q3 the track was cold and nobody’s times improve significantly. You really can’t compare the 2 conditions
It was just a fun little comparison between the two laps 😉 also everyone except Leclerc and Hulk improved in Q3 which doesn't really suggest the track was worse. I think Leclerc could have gotten pole if he was better in the first couple of corners
Apparently Leclerc sid not have two fresh sets of softs left for Q3, which may explain why he couldn't really figure out the track evolution in time. Ferrari seems really well rounded and the field overall looks really bunched up. Very excited!
Bunching up can't be determined by 1 lap. Cars will be lapped during the race. They are not that close over a full race distance.

The VCARB contest will be one to watch based on events so far. Expected slightly better given the pre-season talk.
Sad times for Alpine. Hulk is monstering Magnusson. Lewis set-up for the race more so than Quali?
There's a potential seat at Red Bull for the VCARB duo it will definitely be interesting. Honestly with Lewis I'm not 100% sure, I do expect him to be better in the race. Just not sure how much faster he will be

But then if Ferrari have solved their tyre deg issue and Mercedes is somehow not faster than they were, then my premise may be negated quickly.
All in all, I hope for an enjoyable race tomorrow.
i don't think merceds will be on the podium and totally agree with your final predictions. Their are rumours about ferrari sacrificed quali pace for race pace while developing sf24 and still if they're so strong in quali , race might be interesting if charles engine stays healthy and stratergy is okay

Can’t believe Alpine dropped the ball so hard. Hard to be a alpine believer this year unless they pull a McLaren last year.
They did and sadly for them I don't see them recovering like McLaren did

There could be some truth to that, Mercedes were always stronger in the race last year
Max makes a difference by keeping quali pace most of the race length. That's what makes him a driver like no other in F1 history.
That is something I agree with, he absolutely makes the difference and always has the gap to his teammate no matter who it is
Red Bull are masters at configuring the car for the race whilst not compromising it a lot over 1 lap. This allows them to make up time even if they lose the podium. If Ferrari can't figure this part out, they will keep losing.
We learned that it will be close by everyone after max.

What we learned from qualifying,well we learned that modernF1 is a bit of a joke !oh and that we will have to rely on the organization to hype the crap out of it as usual to gain a little entertainment,no doubt they will ,spinning it and making the best out of the situation.Can’t wait untill we get some decent rules that can create the oh so promised competition and great racing but it’s really turning into The holy grail!still everybody is verry well paid so i guess they can all be happy and us the o lookers thelittle people well who cares right!
The rules are leading to a closing of the pack, it has never been closer in Bahrain during Q1

Yeah they have all of the alpain this weekend and it will be a couple of races at the least I feel like before Alpine even slightly move forward
