- Yamaha Tenere 700 Long Distance Set Up (part two)
I have spent 4 months riding the new Yamaha Tenere 700 across the country while raising awareness and funds for MS. Here are a few of the accessories I added to make those long days and nights in the saddle even better. A few Farkles can make all the difference when using an adventure bike for long distance adventures.
Thank you for following my adventure chasing the cure for MS.

“Sir I don’t mean to argue but I was Not texting, I was reloading the fax machine paper”
This guy is a proper biker, a proper proper motorcyclist.
Kudos sir!
Paul it's always good to see your post!
Wow Paul, mileage adds up fast as usual! Wish you a speedy recovery for your arm surgery and troublefree miles for this winter. Ride safe my friend!
Best wishes Paul; ride safe!
If I remember right, I saw your bike (the Venture) at Daytona in 2019. I missed you, but saw your bike. Within a week or so, I found you on RUclips and have followed since. I did meet you at Daytona this past March. Glad to see you back on RUclips again.
You sir, are an absolute long distance riding stud! Salute!
Very inspiring setup details, as I commented on in the first part. inspirational setup details.
Awesome video Paul
Keep on riding brother.
Thanks very much for the adventures by a boy with sclerosis multiple and your suzuky vstrom. The next motorcycle I hope tenere 700. You are N1 top
Very nice place my friend
Thank you for share ur good idea with us
Legend says his buns of iron came from the center of the earth! You are a huge inspiration for me to travel on a T7.
Can’t wait for the latest update!
Gooooo Paul!
Heal fast Paul!
You are amazing sir.
👍 good deal! Enjoyed the video.
I hope all is well for you your videos are missed
Really admire what you do Paul. Any suspension mods? I.e., a heavier spring or something else from Rally raid, to s upport the luggage?
Cruise Control, Ahhh! I have a 2023 T700 and BMW R1200 GSA. Nothing better than cruise control!
Have you tried pussy ?
This couldn't have come at a better time. I wanted the T700 for my middleweight dual sport but thought there was no way it could keep up with my goldwing for IBA rides. Would you rally with the T7? Any advantage to doing so? I see the tire longevity a big negative. Did you stick with tubed tires or seal them and go tubeless? Keep up the good work!
Hope you are doing well, its been awhile since a new video, I bought a slightly used T7 & now have 15,000 miles clocked & am about finished setting it up for RTW riding, i am interested in the hippo hand gear you mentioned here & thinking of switching to the wire block that you use also. Again hope all is well ,Oh did i miss the chopper ride ? or is that yet to happen ?
Jay
Great id, tons of info. Could you also share links/video to the heated outfit you use for cold weather?
Working on a vid with my gear.
I wear Aerostich outer gear, exclusively. Heated jacket and pants and controls from Warm and Safe and heated gloves from Gordon's Heated Clothing. I have socks, but prefer heated insoles.
How are you doing? Been awhile since a video.
You should have got another Venture - jus saying!
What has happened to Paul ? This video was 7 months ago and this is supposed to be the newest.
Hey bro, how are you? Just thinking about you and hope your ok. God bless you.
Where did you go???
What tires are you running?
Hey Paul, check out Anthony William Medical Medium's take on MS. Celery juice, blueberry detox, low fats. It can help you.
Hey Paul, great setup! Do you prefer the Super Tenere or Tenere 700?
I loved the ST, but I'm really starting to love this 700. Time will tell. Winter riding, ice, snow, heated gear at -5° F, wear and tear are still unknowns. I am not babying it for sure!
Hi Paul. What tyres are you running? And how long do thay last?
I swapped the first set for street tires. Bridgestone A41's on the street, getting about 7,000 miles out of a rear. I also have a set of wheels with Bridgestone AX41 dirt tires, but haven't had much time on them to gauge mileage.
How does the Tenere compare to the Venture on winter roads?
It's not winter yet! Soon.
I guess the Radar Detctor helps .. but I can't afford Tickets.. I have a Commercial Drivers License..
Absolutely makes a difference every day I'm on the highway.
@@longhaulpaul I have one have not mounted it yet.. Here in Michigan it's about to snow again .. so not in a rush . I can't even tell you the brand off from the Top of my head .. but I can tell you it's the only model and brand I could find that is weatherprrof for a Motorcycle..
I have used Escort Radar detecros over the years in cars..
Quite amazing how often Google driving Insturactions gives you an audible warning of speed traps reported by Motorists..
I downloaded an app like that from Cobra but I don't have a Cobra Radar Detector and didn't pay the $40 Annual Subscription yet .. for non Cobra owners..
!
I need more details on that cruise control lol. Looks like it works better than one's made for the bike. Could you send me a better pic of what you did?
I used a Vista cruise with the Oxford grips. To mount it to the bike I used an electrical eyelet terminal and gust bent the tab you would normally crimp in wire. The o of the eyelet gets screwed into the throttle housing and the bent piece then holds the groove in the Vista Cruise.
I'm curious which tires ye be using matee.....ARRRRR.
On the street I am running Bridgestone A41's. On the dirt I have a set of rims with Bridgestone AX41's.
@@longhaulpaul I've heard good things about both.
@@cuzimaluzer777 not to mention Bridgestone has donated 80 sets of tires to my Journey over the last 8 years.
You've added a lot of options that require electricity. Have you run into any issues or limitations with the stock alternator or battery? Would you put in a lithium battery?
I've had no issues. Last week I rode NH to GA, 13°F when I left and stayed below freezing for first 700 miles or so. Had a chance to use all my heated gear. Insoles, pants, jacket, gloves and heated grips. Plus the Clearwater lights, phone charger, gps, radar, etc. No issues. Voltage never went below 13.3.
what is with the eye patch?
It covers my eye.
All the pirates wear them.
Yeah.... next video he will have a parrot on his shoulder
Arrrrrr you curious?
Just a wild guess but... it might have something to do with his recent eye surgery.
What has happened with Paul ? This post is 10 months old and there is nothing newer
Between dealing with health issues, setting a world record on a chopper and 60,000 miles on the road to speaking events across the country, I've not had a spare moment to put together a decent video update. I'm sorry! I've got about 50 hours of 3 minute raw video and I promise after my next two appearances, (Atlanta this weekend and Southern California in November) updating my channel will be my priority this winter when I get home for more than a day.
@@longhaulpaul hope your health issues are under control. Looking forward to learning about the world record. Thank for responding and good hearing from you. Stay safe
Anyone know if Paul is still riding?
Yes. Just behind on my editing and dealing some medical issues. Have about 200 hours of 20 second clips from this year's 60K miles that will take me a few months to sort out. Lots of instant posts on FB, but the Tube takes quite a bit of time to get something created. 😞
