Nice giving the lesson to the class. If you use the torch on r290 or r600 you are leak checking at the same time it makes you more effective as a tech 😂.
I have gotten into the habit of using my rinsekit to thaw out coils. It's so quick and I can avoid melting wires. Especially if I had that floor drain at my disposal.
i Prefer My Pump Sprayer with Super hot water in it. it's alot quicker than the torch i've found. i use My Wet Vac to vacuum up the Water out of the bottom of the cooler & can be used to vacuum off the condensers too. Agree on Boxes holding the door open --- see it all the time. seen lots of different things holding doors open a bit on freezers & prep tables too.
I use a Bissell $60 steamer on Amazon for flammable refrigerant and the $99 Wagner automotive steamer on really bad coils. I do residential appliances.
R290 I pull the compressor wire off the control and let the fan melt it. I just go back the nest day. I just deal with pop though and they are our coolers. Different situation…
Did you dob that evap leak with solder? Usually one's I've come across froze up that bad are flatline on the charge so rejuice isn't an option? It's either new evap or solder it up.
A lot of the time if I don't want to make a mess with hot water I'll get my 2 heat guns in the unit and my battery operated fan to circulate the heat, usually does a nice job.
Heat guns typically operate at temperatures ranging from 100°C to 700°C (212°F to 1292°F), depending on the model and setting. R290 forms explosive mixtures with air between concentrations of 2.1% (lower explosive limit) and 9.5% (upper explosive limit). Given these factors, using a heat gun in the presence of R290 refrigerant poses a serious fire and explosion hazard. The heat gun could easily reach temperatures exceeding the auto-ignition point of R290, potentially causing ignition if the refrigerant concentration in the air is within the explosive limits
How often you get the h10 tuned up or do you change out the sensor your self? I had an h10a(bulletproof), h10g and a pm which form ripped off. Love the h10pro but it’s been a little weak. Was thinking about getting the h10g back on the truck.
For years I used the same methods to melt ice. But then another tech put me onto using a steam wallpaper stripper, so much quicker. Do you guys have those over there? (Edit, you actually did mention steamers in the video lol) Phil from the UK
Hey Dave, why don’t you use a pump sprayer and hot water you’ll find you can defrost that coil a lot faster that way,no matter what you’re gonna do you’re gonna make a mess!
lol, Dave busted by someone goofing around and half dancing. 🤣 best leak detector for flammable gas is a torch, but it best be a well ventilated area. lol
@@rowdybroomstick6394 yeah, keep your face/body well clear of the area, lol. probably trapped in the oil, micro pockets in tubing and coils, also inside the compressor cylinders/scroll, unless you heat the compressor, strike it and bump them over(short blips of power on) with nitrogen flowing through there's no way you'll get it all out. except maybe a deep vacuum first before torching. lol, but who's going to do that, especially if it's a leaker!
How has no one developed an H10 sniffer that doesn’t require two hands to operate? Having to lug that whole case around while leak detecting is a real drag sometimes
We’re the only ones nuts enough to watch some dude melt ice for 20 min and consider it a win.
Lol, so true. On a Sunday at that. Our only day off, we are watching Dave work
A moment enjoyed.. is not wasted.
Yup -no melting ice with a torch on R 290🔥 have a good Sunday Dave.

Ya I always use hot water especially if it’s an empty box already . That garden hose would knock that out in 15 min
I heard that!! I also use steam guns, and they are also very effective
@@WswRefrigeration I need the steam gun

In appliances we have to use steamers because of the flooring. Especially on the plastic liners and r600, r290's cousin.
Good video NorCal Dave . I would’ve used a garden hose “hot” water special 🤷🏻♂️. Hate iced up coils
Your an awesome mechanic!!!! Top notch, great stuff as usual!!
I use a Bissell $60 steamer on Amazon for flammable refrigerant and the $99 Wagner automotive steamer on really bad coils. I do residential appliances.
I used an old Conair blow dryer to thaw coils. It would spread the heat over a larger area and IMHO faster than a heat gun. Your mileage may vary.
Awesome content as always Dave !! Love watching these from your cousins up North in Montreal Canada
That coffee pour in the morning just lowers my blood pressure
I work at a university, we can always just unplthe unit and let it just melt overnight and make a return visit. Makes it way easier for me.
I thought that I had a steamer this morning. Must be taking about different things. Anyways, love your videos man. Keep em coming.
Ahh the goold ole atrocious units, gotta hate em but they keep dudes like us busy
Great job Dave.

not only this but the H10 leak detector is not rated for A3 refrigerants
Still need to be careful with a heat gun. Around flammable gasses, the heat gun is much like a hot surface ineider.
Awesome Dave 👍👍👍

Do you still recommend the sunjoe with that connection problem or the rinse kit? Looking to get myself one! Great video!
