My dad worked in a facility much like this as an electrician. The nurse call system experienced a failure at some point. From what I remember, he took a test meter and started ohming out every circuit. A few days passed, no fix. Managment was then upset with him and called out a specialist. He showed that person what he was doing just for everybody to find out that was correct procedure for finding the fault. I'm sure Dad might have had input on you all's situations for this building, but he passed with heart issues in 2020.
Something I know from working in a nursing home, is that the call button breaks a closed circuit instead of closing an open circuit like you would expect. This is so, if someone falls and yanks the call button out of the wall, it will automatically activate the nurse call. This is also why they use the old thiic mono TRS connectors, so getting yanked out won't damage the receptacle. They make dummy plugs to allow unused sockets to not call the nurse without a whole button in place. I also recently found out the call buttons are also used in other random places like as the trigger for manually changing traffic lights. The exact same button on a wire with a TRS, just being sold for a different price for a different reason.
Hey, don’t worry about it. They’ve got the king right here and I know a few others including my father but he left the industry 2-3 years ago. The integrations they do today are insane. The splice boxes above doors have 30-60 damn conductors coming into terminals for different systems… jumpers here and there for certain doors but not for others… Honestly it’s a nightmare but I’m up for the challenge. Sad thing is not many want the job, most come and then never want to come back, but I’m willing To and thanks to the union I make 12% less than the service electricians. We are talking 15-20k/yr. It’s beyond ridiculous. Need the union mandate to go away…

Yeah if you have no water, the water is off and you turn on the Electric heating elements in the electric boilers on dry, the air will quickly burn out the heating elements and that will cost thousands of dollars. That is really really really bad. So.. very smart to see those are labeled, off, while there is no water, and not turn them on until there is water in the unit and it is ready to operate again. Good job!!
I worked in a midsized hospital and would frequently troubleshoot nurse call systems. Of course all systems are different but I sware if you looked at the thing the wrong way it would go off. Moisture, mice, bad call remotes, not putting the call stop plug in the wall, someone unpluging the signal booster for a coffee pot, a bed weight sensor malfunction. Jesus those things were a PITA.
Go get some decent head lamps.. Yes you will look like a dork but they are infinitely useful in a situation like this. Everywhere you look will be illuminated and you will have you hands free.
You've done what I was trying to do with Harrisburg State hospital unfortunately they would not sell to a private ownership they are going to demolish it to build forensic labs for the State Police in Pennsylvania
It's never too late to stop a corrupt effort like that if the facility is still standing. We have saved several buildings after demolition contracts were already signed. Expose to the general public how many taxpayer dollers they are proposing to spend to destroy a facility that has replacement value of several hundred million dollars and see who at the state or federal level is willing to do the right thing then.
The place is not haunted. Or at least that's not causing this. Over the years scrappers have taken out the pull cords in for the call system. What they would do with those is beyond me. But, when the cord comes out, it goes off.
How the hell much does that place eat in electric bills every month? I bet it's more scary opening the bill than anything that goes bump in the night there.
I would suggest tracing each individual circuit one by one and labeling what goes where and what is on which breaker in which panel. That way you know which panel goes to which wing, to which rooms, to which outlets, which lights turn off on a specific breaker, etc. While it may take some time to trace it all, this can save you a lot of time in the future.
Is this video out of order from your other one? An earlier video shows you lighting up the hood lights and such. So I assume this is before that video.

Something about the nurse call alarm going off with nobody around to help or be helped is just eerie...
I guess, some people are more easily frightened tbh. It's just an abandoned circuit that's all fked by rats.
Plus the radios making static sounds at the same time.
Walk into any hospital now call lights are on and nobody is going lol

Have been into urban exploring for most my life so this is a weird combination of things and I love it. Thanks for sharing.
Finally a video with ultra wide camera, it's a bit worse in low light conditions but we can see more field of view
interesting! alot of breakers to explore. thanks for posting. 😀👍
It would be really cool to see the nurse call system, and how it works.
If fleas are in the warmest room in the building . A HOMELESS Person is Sleeping there!!!
It's nice to see the asylum being taken over by former patients.
😂😅
Go get some decent head lamps.. Yes you will look like a dork but they are infinitely useful in a situation like this. Everywhere you look will be illuminated and you will have you hands free.
You should fix up that building and use the nurse call system as an intercom between the rooms. Make it like an office, or apartment complex.
Really should keep a non contact voltage tester with you.
Nurse call systems “fail safe” so if you pull out the call button from the wall jack it will alarm.

Plug n play led bulbs are more reliable as the quality ballast is doing the heavy lifting btw
i saw a troffer with jammed starters, probably not very healthy for the ballasts!
@@georgewills-ek1gg That's why it is best to replace the starters when replacing a bulb. Plug n play LED's require you to remove the starter though.
@@Warp2090 with some, you have to use a shorting fuse, or even just a jammed starter will do.

hire an electrician to walk thru it with you

How is bro not scared dude at 3am a alarm in a unknown building I am leaving and never coming back
He bought the building and owns it for like 5 years now, he has a lot of experience with the building, it isn't completely unknown to him
Time to get a good meter, toner and a binder.
Label the panel and tone out each circuit inside it, make a list as you go down the panel.
Out of curiosity and adhd noseyness of mine., What you guys plan on doing with the place?
can you make a video testing the generator
Ooh.. you know what would be cool.. Go on a ghost hunt in your new old building. see if you catch anything spooky!
That fucking noise is so creepy... Fuck no... That clouds thoughts right there in the worst way
You gotta get arc flash ppe for flipping breakers in an old place.
Hey, it seem that a lot of the breakers are correctly labeled, this is neat !

Is there a generator room
I don't really know but I know there is definitely one outside of his building
Is this the linda vista hospital?
I'd just send it and turn on absolutely everything except the boilers and the heat pumps.
Can you do a video of renovating the laundry room just for me thanks

"No..."

Has he been updating without telling us what he is doing?
its maybe because of a shortage in wiring

How are there fleas in there? There's nothing for them to feed on. I'd be afraid of bombing that room full of switches, contacts and breakers.

someone please clean this man's camera lens
