I am one of the old timers that pulled a vacuum thru 1/4 hoses and a manifold. 12,22,502, and mineral oil was very forgiving. Pulled down to 28-29 inches HG and called it good.

old timer here. started in 1981 officially. Ran calls with dad in 1973 on weekends. side jobs. Allways pull vacuums overnight here. 12 hrs min. 1 hr only if emergency. try it sometime. compressor runs a lot cooler dome & pressures are spot on. a lot quieter compressor too. can hardly hear it run.

Dave you don't need to take out one battery , i just unscrew the battery holder thingy a little bit while it's on until the flashing light goes out so i know it's disconnected.
I do that with the probes too because the On button petrudes too much and it accidentally turns on inside my tool bag .

I use stay clean and it tins the connections so perfectly when you sweat it out of the fitting. I just don't get how people deal with the huge flame that comes out of a #0 or #2 tip, much respect for the tip control though. I have to use the victor mini rosebud because the flame is pretty short and I get spooked about cooking stuff behind what I'm brazing.

It's interesting seeing you say you're in go mode and don't put heat block on the dryer, and yet you still flow nitrogen when brazing.
I just started as an apprentice at a refrigeration mob, and nobody cares about flowing nitro. Most recent job had 1 5/8 suction lines, pipe runs 250ft at most. Asked the boss and the guy doing all the brazing and they're like "nah its not that important, we'll just come back and change the filter dryer after they've been running for a bit."
Glad to see you do things the right way

You may wanna; its acolytes overstate its merits but it is remarkable on cap tubes when flowing nitrogen is not ideal. Just don't use it on compressor discharge outlets.

I don't think it's possible to sweat in a dryer without burning the paint. at least not without them having 3 inch long stubs and using heat blocker.
all dryers should be made that way and all equipment should be sized for them to fit without trimming down(just a dreamer.....)
