I’ve learned from you to cut the condensing unit out completely out. Spend the 10-15 minute to clean the booger up. Cutting it out makes the swap so easy. Store managers love the attention to detail cleaning everything. And then it’s always fun to hear the couple of co worker b**ch about swapping compressors on these things. These guys have got a decade or two on me, but this makes so much cents
Also the title says “compressor change” but the screen shot looks like a completely new condensing unit. Good job NORCAL DAVE. I hope to be NORMN PAT someday when I get sick of working in the Twins of Cities.
The Compressor will still have a internal over load, but you will lose any actual external current overload. If a 3 In 1 has one, it'll be generic, and not best suited for any specific compressor application. 3 in 1's are a great temporary solution, but the best fix is OEM start gear. That being said, customers trying to save money have had good experiences with aftermarket start component longevity.
Good work friend, I really like your videos from beginning to end, I encourage you to upload more videos so it helps us a lot to those of us who are starting in this beautiful profession, greetings from Spain friend!

An AE3425. Is this a 1\4 hp? Why the 1\2 hp Supco roc? You said for the start cap. Then why not get a compressor that has a start cap? Like the AE4440y. Just curious
love your vids Dave! quick question why did you swap supco 3in1 instead of the original starting components?? i get it if they were bad but in a new compressor wouldnt you just run oem? thanks
At 11:45 what was that done for? Is that a flux or some type of cleaning agent? Im just an electrician that loves watching these videos so just trying to learn.
Dave love your style and videos. But condemning a compressor without checking pressures? What if it was flat out of gas or low? That bit me a couple years ago. Changed reach in compressor and there was a small leak at the evaporator. Customer was rightfully upset lol. Not hating, just throwin the chips out there.
hey man, I know this is an old video but how do you keep your flame so calm and quiet? I just went from air-acetylene to oxy-acetylene and mine is kinda loud still
why the compressor have 3 ports?one is discharge the second is suction and the third port is both suction and service port at the same time? also i would like to ask if the diameter of the liquid line pipe is smaller than the discharge line..
totally agree, I bought mine five or six years ago on your recommendation, they’re great. They don’t slip down. They’re not rolling and they’re really really comfortable.
Could you explain 26:34. (The replacement of oem start components) maybe in a separate video. Your videos are so helpful and this one was probably one of the best👍. If your compressor is designed for "x" btu capacity...does it need modification?
I’ve had it cycle to fast without equalization and not start without a start capacitor. I did not have the cap for this compressor so I just installed the 3 in 1
@@NorCal-refrigerationThanks that's interesting I wonder if that was a weak compressor or bad control design 🤷♂️. Definitely have my next question for the next training session 😂🤘👊

My HVAC guy just replaced the Compressor and thermostat but it's still not running like it supposed to. It runs for 2 min and locks up and then starts the same Cycle. A month later it stopped cooling. He so recharged the freon. He can't figure out what's wrong and wants to try a txv valve and or the 3 n1 starter. It's a true commercial kegerator tdb-24-48-1-g1. Hi, Dave I’ve been watching your videos for over two year now and I have notice you don’t use the cordless vacuum pump (navac). Does it means it’s broken, or you don’t use it that often now? Keep up making videos 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
It seems like those small units are just a pain to work on. Very little room to work. The only good thing there is that is that there were no employees working.
That takes a lot of special equipment and test equipment plus scales to do it right, would enjoy watching you do this and explain it as you go Yea let the stupid people act stupid and we are working to pay bills and taxes 😊😊
