Wow! A rare one! Gawd, Hayward probably wasn't even twenty-one yet in that clip. What's interesting about "Fly Me High" is that it has strong elements of the "Go Now" era Moodies - Pinder's keyboards and a preview of what the Moodies evolved into - tightly constructed songs with soaring harmonies. This song is the bridge between the two iterations of the Moody Blues.
+Lydia Gaebe Bishop Yeah, I remember being mesmerised by it early '67.The Yardbirds also had that pre psychedelic adventurism in their sound as early as '66. Still got that "Fly Me High" single...Shame it didn't chart, probably got banned by Saville's BBC ,because of the 'high' connotation....
After their first album, "Early Blues" featuring "Go Now..." was the next premier album "Prelude" which contained this song. I used to have every album the Moody Blues on cassette. Met Ray Thomas in Tulsa mid 1990's. These guys could keep my toes tappin' or lull me to sleep... middle ground in a daydream.
Yes, a great song by such a talented guy. And to think he had written Nights in White Satin about a year before this one! Imagine having written Nights at 19 years old!
It's a shame that I was only five when that came out I was way too young to appreciate them My older cousins used to listen to them.My sister used to play their records I was twelve when I heard Nights in White Satin I was hooked then
What a cutie pie, so young, just a beautiful voice!!!!! Love him, he is the most talented artist we have today!!!! And the most handsome..❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️....... 🥀🥀🥀🥀.. 2022...
Justin was blessed with a "natural talent"...I love fly me high...I want a t-shirt that says that! I wish I could hear them on the cruise...the ocean water will love the music also...it will be healing..!
Great close ups of Justin Hayward and his vioce towards the end of this perfomance as it echos the talent that relaunched them...wow! Looking so cute in the suits 💕🎵🎵🎶
A shirt like that would be sweet! I'd love to do the cruise too. Those people going are very lucky. I wonder if Justin and the rest of the guys will want to be hiding out in their cabins though! They will be the center of attention for the entire time!
Late '66 or early '67, one of their first originals before "Days". Amazing to watch. This is available on the "Time Traveller" boxed set; it was one of those released to try and get the band back to making money for UK Decca after Denny and Clint left.
great ! another "time travel video"...what a great song Justin wrote at such a young age..everyone looked like they were really enjoying dancing to it!
it's a stellar year for the band with the 45th anniversary of Days of Future Past and the 50th anniversary of the band soon. They are used to being in the public eye,I'm sure they won't be hiding,They all deserve a much needed vacation with their friends and family!
No doubt it was a thrill for the Moodies to play Red Rocks, but I'll take the rawness & simplicity of this & early performances of the core five, which I've seen live, over the overstatedness of Red Rocks, any day!
too bad about the missing guitars...someone mentioned this wasn't released in the USA, but i'd heard it promoted in colorado springs as a kid, but when i returned to the chicago area, it was gone. great tune
I saw this on the set list for their current tour and I didn't remember ever hearing it. Well, now is the name of their current tour, so I guess I will hear it live on 3/28
They did many dates in France those years ,there were EPS and many singles in France ...France was poor in rock music ,and many english backed french idols ....that's why they did live 3 months in Mouscron belgie middle of Germany ,Bruxelles ,Amsterdam ,Paris and London!
awe Justin looks so scared in the beginning!!! he's a cutie though
Slightly Shy ...

Yeah, I thought that too, similar in sound to the "Go Now"-era Moodies.

Well said
And Ray adds his own contribution to the vocal harmonies.
Vintage MB clips transport me to another time and place!
The grin he has at the beginning is so sexy!!great song.
Love this song, and the close-up from Justin Hayward. Beautiful eyes and eyelashes.

Exactly Jackie... Justin was a prodigy...and divinely inspired.

October 14th: HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Justin!
THAT was INCREDIBLE! What a great song!
This song is such classic rock n roll. Love it!
Fly me straight and fly me high, back to this moment!💓
just babies, then. Wanted to listen to this song as I've just purchased tickets for their 2016 tour, named this. I can't wait. Love them

I've never seen this video before...I love the Moody Blues so much!
I love these early videos! Pinder is great to watch! 🎹💙🎶
Such a classic song from the Moody`s , even live they sing brilliantly , year before i was born too . :)
Love the flying feeling 🎉😊
Denny Laine ('Go Now')is long gone here.
That piano intro takes me right into Marvin Gaye's recording of "Ain't That Peculiar."
A great look in the past. Energetic and catchy lyrics. Love it Justin. 01/24

INCREDIBLE!
This is very precious stuff ! Justin put a long, informative letter up on his former website about Fly Me High not too long ago.

LOVE THIS SONG!!!
Wow, fantastic to see this!!

I wonder if he met Marie then. That voice!
Wow!!!
yay ray!
Ambrose Slade's cover version is a good 'un...it's on here somewhere.
That f****n’ smoked!!!!!
That may have been the first song put out by the new lineup. They were more popular in France and Belgium than in the UK at that time.
They did many dates in France those years ,there were
