I don’t understand why people are mad that you use stuff in your own pantry. Generally most of us do have things in the kitchen we can use even when we’re in a budget. Also you’re not trying to live off the £5 you’re simply trying to see what you can buy for £5.
Honestly I've seen people get mad at a budget challenge for using things like salt and pepper. At some point, you just have to realize people will complain about absolutely anything lol.
I have only been to Lidl once and I live in US,but their bakery is fabulous. Two types of Focaccia bread! Lucky to find one. And the cookies were exceptional.
Just found the channel and watched quite a few of your videos. Find them very interesting, very realistic. Makes me wonder why I spend some much on shopping, takeaways etc, when you can live and make good meals for so little. Great work Sam!
I've been shopping in Lidl for about 10 years now, 5 years in the Netherlands, and 5 years after that here in the UK. Obviously they do have some different products in different countries, but the bakery here in the UK is as far as I remember the same as, and as good quality as the ones in NL. As Lidl in both countries have those German style rolls (here they call them Petit Pains) and those are up to German standards, I think the bakeries follow standard Lidl Germany procedures and recipes.
Just so you know the bakery goods are shipped in frozen and then just cooked on site, most supermarkets do this and they generally use the same suppliers. I know from experience I used to be one of these ‘bakers’. There are fewer supermarkets with an actual bakery these days as it’s all to do with cost and they want bakeries to make around a 60-70% markup.
Over 500 likes, now you have to buy & eat everything from the Lidl bakery! 😈 I think it depends on how the croissant's made, I guess it's either Frangipane or Almond paste inside?
Great video, I have just made a list of the stuff in my freezer and for some unknown reason I have lots of sausages and was wondering what to do with them, it looks like I will be making sausage pasta bake,
I actually like that you use pantry stuff with your fiver. It’s just way more realistic 😊 Well done sir.

@@THENAMEISQUICKMAN haha so true, I just find it very bizarre.
Purists complaining about cooking with zero ingredients in pantry need to do just that, for a week. You were fabulous 👌
Sometimes, the best tasting things are the simplest, as the pasta bake shows.

Wow. You got all that for £4.96? 😮
(I tried before to get their cheap discount veg boxes: but they never seem to have them in Newquay, Cornwall...)
I want to do a too good to go vid at some point with those mystery boxes from here and Aldi!
They usually put them out when they open in the mornings

Do you not wash your air fryer after every use?
Course we do!
@@SamWilder. It must have been the lighting then, because it looked dirty inside. I know some people who don't and its ewww.
idk how you eat that small potion :P
not really just 5 quid when you are using the whole pantry
Realistic though
What's with the weird fixation on "Sweet Treat"? No one actually on a budget would be worried about that. It seems so random and strange.
You cheat the challenge
Try making a 5a last you a whole week thats what I have to do it's easy
