It reminds me of that New Girl episode where Winston wanted people to roast him with compliments, he called it a Honey Roast 😄 Honestly, it’s just nice to see especially since so many people are doing the mean kind of roasts right now (which are fine too, as long as everyone is on board with what’s going on, of course).

I like the Bookshelf Appreciation over a roast so I love your style of this 😂 I had to stop watching Daniel Greene’s vids of them bc I started to feel really bad about my shelves. I have cubes shelves so they’re double stacked and some cubes are for crafts/notebooks not books, which he alwaysss calls out 😅 and he’ll call out fairy lights too if they’re in front of the shelves instead of a light behind them 😅

Crikey with 1250 books in to four areas you would rip my shelves to bits, I need custom shelves but I just don’t have the room, well that’s a lie. I could have the room but I need my own library room so I can use both sides of the shelves and utilise every bit of shelf space because I really need it. One day Ivwill have the shelves of my dreams, I have books in front of books but they are all in series still

Gosh - I'm old and just finished The Swiss Death Cleaning book. I have really reduced my books (my son doesn;t read and told me I need to get rid of the crap). Marie Kondo says we have no more than 30 books. Yikes.
Marie Kondo says she doesn't need more than that but also encourages her clients to keep whatever truly brings them joy. So if more than thirty books spark joy for you, MK would still approve. Her method of decluttering is about only having possessions that make you happy - what goes out the door are the things that aren't serving a purpose in your life anymore. And as someone who has been sorting through a parent's belongings after losing them - books are easy to donate or discard, they're seriously the least trouble to sort through. My two cents are to keep whatever makes you happy and when you do let go of something that doesn't belong in your life anymore, get rid of it for yourself in the now.

There is a great literacy program near me so that is where I donate. Now my shelves are very curated. Having to sort through my Grandma’s home and then my parents’ home; I want to make it easier for my son.
