    It's funny because I own both of these lights and Amaran basically killed off the LS 120d because not eought people saw the value in paying almost 3x the cost for metal construction, the power brick/remote, and the lack of Sidus Link controls. I do see a used 120d on ebay in the $200-300 range and it's tempting but with the 150C out I think I would rather go that route.

      Just remember, for color lights , 150c, they arent designed to go full 150 per color. If you are going for the 150w output, get 300c.

    I just watched the other Amaran light reviews, and a lot of them are testing against their expensive lights, which were used in their videos for a long time.
    Aputure, please tell them to stop doing that with your test units. It makes it look as though the 100d and 200d are the best light vs these more expensive light, even your own lights. They are all testing with USED up expensive LED lights.
    Thanks for the info Lee. Now I am aware of this!

      If other channels are using their older lights and comparing it side by side with a new light.... ehh...
      In my field they just get fire because staff need to take in count for the quality checks on every device on set.

    • @theCameraVille

      Yup, over time depending the hours you use the led, it will shift in brightness and in color over time. Others just found out as well from my video so it makes you wonder, what are the other people comparing with? An old light vs a new light ? Makes you wonder. Welcome to the channel~!

    Alright, now let's get an Amaran version of the 600! I would hate to a see a light that is brighter than that because of blindness and stuff.

    Is this true? Some say: "I purchased this brand new and have used it now for several weeks, this light is touted as being completely silent, it is NOT silent, it is noisy. The fan kicks on after only a few minutes and I heard another unusual noise in addition to the fan. Now I can't use it for interviews, only good if your shooting without audio."

    • @theCameraVille

      Thats very interesting. I run 2 of them for 1 hour a video. Barely have any noise issue. The only ones that gives noise issue, is the 200D which I dodged. I cant have that noise during recording. No way.

    Is the 100d bi-color? What softbox mount does the 100d have? Any one you recommend? And, where can we get the app you mentioned?

    • @theCameraVille
      @theCameraVille  3 года назад +3

      That would be the Amaran 100X - Bi-Color LED, there is 2 version,
      amzn.to/3bThNnw
      Only Bowens mount it takes . It depends on you budget for the soft boxes.
      If I was on a budget, I would look at some neewer. amzn.to/3qjByKk
      If you can spend a little more - amzn.to/3sRCCGZ
      The app is called Sidus Link.

    • @theCameraVille
      @theCameraVille  3 года назад +3

      It is overly bright still. I used to have it near 100% on my 120D. On these Amaran, I use around 30%-40% power. So far I have zero issue and I do weekly youtube that stretches an hour of recording.
      I will do a follow up video if there is any issue and I will reply to this comment with the links in case I run into any. Im really impress with the light at this price point. I cant believe I spent $750 on the 120D.

      Forget to ask the questions, lol. So for me it's choosing between Pentax KP and Nikon D500. But I am looking for a film like quality in the pictures more than iso performance, does the D500 clips highlight more. Some of the sample pictures I saw, the D500 highlight is not so good.

    Thanks for the comparative. Have you tried the Neewer SL series? I've recently bought the 60W model (about 4000 lumen @5600K 95+ CRI) and seems pretty decent. I'm curious to know what do you think about these "bottom of the line" cheap products...

    • @theCameraVille
      @theCameraVille  3 года назад +1

      Behind the scene, when I tested the Godox sl 60, I returned it. The light was getting overly hot and I didn't want to risk it.
      I saw great reviews on it but none of them test out temperature over time. I guess I am paranoid about cloth and overheating lights being very close to each other maybe.
      The aputure temps remained very much the same temps through out the day which is good. Godox sl 60, I had to make sure I have a fire extinguisher to the side. This is kind of why I was measuring the temps in this video. If the temps went high on the cheaper unit, I would had return it and made a bad review for the Amaran 100d.
      cheers!
