Another idea for people that want to use LED strip lights like that, there are lots of options on the market that have RGB LEDs with the ability to have multiple colors and multiple temperatures of white light as well as dimming abilities with any color. And it can be done with just one strip and very low power draw including kits with a USB type A plug for power if you want super simple.
Interesting demonstration of some of the art of rope splicing and their application on your boat. Nice to see castoffs being re-purposed for a longer useful life. Love the use of hateshrink.
What? Its over already?? Boy that went by fast! It is always a pleasure to watch your videos and you teach me something in every one of them !!! Thank you.
Just brilliant you guys, that was a lot of thought gone into those details and extremely well executed. Such a pleasure to watch perfection in action..... where did that 20 mins go?!?!
You guys really have put a lot of clever thought into the details in the makeover of your boat. Really impressive. I would imagine she would have to likely be one of the very best Clansman 30s out there following this refit. Well done to both of you.
All for Wide Rope Replacement (WRR). The D I Y aspect is the number one seller for me. I can easily splice a new stay at sea without special or expensive components or equipment. Thanks for showing this, I'm learning a lot from you two.
I like the black lifelines; if you start getting chafe you can always serve the line where it passes through the stantion. I would call the eye splice through the chock, a 'ring hitch' and thus ABOK 310, but the point is well taken. Can't wait to see her back on the sea.
I installed Dyneema dux lifelines and so far after 2 years they are still looking new. I put shrink sleeves where they go through the stanchions. So many similarities to what I have done. On my lazy jacks I had some round bronze thimbles which worked like the rings. Those Ronstan fittings are very neat, off to the chandlery…. Love your videos and the practical videos. Andy UK
Cracking good lazy jacks! So impressed with using modern racing style systems for a cruising yacht. Normally people over build cruising boats with weight. With the difficulty of pulling the pantry Lee cloths to attach the hooks you could add a piece of folded in half to form a loop webbing or old sheet casing a few inches away from the eyelet along the top hem. That will give you a little extra spring in the shock cord. Or... cut a slice in the hem turn down so you can slot the shock cord from one side to the other. It would look like the string in a hoodie. As an ex sailmaker I was impressed with how straight Pascal got the stitching. Kudos!
When you have completed your list I hope you are able to do a shot by shot comparison of what you docked up with and what you are leaving with. That would be fascinating.
Aw Mate(s), I happened on your latest just 1 minute after you UPL it to RUclips. Thanks for your informative, entertaining and community vidde. I hope you are both well and dealing with the pressures of lockdown and 'living' in the job, so to speak. I think I've come to appreciate your style of presentation and the vast reservoir of knowledge you both have. Whilst you've been away from YT, I've had the opportunity to watch other sailors and their efforts, none of them have your 'can do' 'mend and make do' or budget constraints which inform your episodes. Again I've learned a lot from your experiences. Keep sailing, David High Seas Raider.
Please make a review of your synthetic rig compared to the normal one. I would assume many are interested in it now. How do you deal with tightening it every so often? And how often? And what temperature?
great work, I bet all that rope rigging has made it a lot quieter, no clunks or clanks of cables and connectors, should be nice peaceful sailing. Also since all the storage places are secured with covers no spillage of things in rough seas. Less worries , less stress. Have a great day!!
I have now watched almost all of your videos twice. It is fun to see you improve, boat, video, sound and production.BRAVO!seventy five year old single hander now with a freedom 29
Your thought process into why you do things is a breath of fresh air I will also be doing a lot of what you have done as well to my H28 refit thank you so much. Regards Chris S.V Nagisa
As usual lots of great practical ideas. I especially liked the one LED strip covering the whole pantry, well thought out. Also "bin bargains" aren`t they the best ? All my sail bags and mainsail cover are ex camping gazebo`s which always got damaged in storms and dumped at the campground I worked at, and fine flywire for hatches from dead tents dumped as well.
Hi Guys, The weakest point of lifeline system is the small welded loop where the lifelines are attached. We use the welded loop to fix the position of the lifeline but run the lashings around the actual stanchion. s/v "Horizon"
The saying is true you can teach an old dog/biker new tricks.. I never thought about using heat shrink at the end of my nylon ropes I been just burn the ends to melt it. But sometimes it don't work so good. I never thought about putting heat treat over the endsit that looks like it's almost guaranteed to stay. Thank you for that awesome tip. I sure do enjoy your kids' videos we all got some mighty good ideas I had to make different things work. . So let me see very big thank you for taking time making these videos... Much loving prayers you kids be blessed in Jesus... BBE 🤗🤗❤️♥️
- and in the UK it's skip diving; and about half the really useful things in my daughter's workshop came from things other people had decided should be thrown away. SO much better than looking in a catalogue or hardware store for things. Repurpose, adapt.
Calm and understated competence on display, what an excellent video! Thank you for posting and adding to my long list of ‘must implement’ ideas.
merci pour toutes ces idées très interessante de recyclage et d'aménagement. Vous faites un travail remarquable sur votre magnifique bateau.
The jack lines are a thing of beauty 👏🏻👏🏻
Mirrool really has been transformed. Great job both of you.

That you guys very much for sharing all of your projects and it gives me ideas of what I will be doing on my boat.
Just brilliant you guys, that was a lot of thought gone into those details and extremely well executed. Such a pleasure to watch perfection in action..... where did that 20 mins go?!?!
You are both perfectionists and that is why you have such a great product. Truly awesome.

Glad you guy's are back .
Very Beautiful
So very elegant with well thought out simplicity ! You two are the best.
I love the soft and work light combination. The finer details like this make such a big difference, I hope you are both well.
Cheers mate

Mirool is looking beautiful. I love this channel.
Great progress, well thought out solutions using modern technology.
Most importantly though is that the explanations are detailed and complete!

Really like your refit video's, of course the sailing video's are great to.
In the states we call it Dumpster Diving, great bargains can be had....
Way too much trash could be repurposed if people would drop the stigma it would help the environment alot .🙂

I'm really starting to love Murel - Waiting to see her healed over cutting through the Seas - Where will you be going after Tasmania?
I was only admiring those lazy jacks yesterday as I walked past Mirrool in Freo! Great job.
Do we know why they are called lazy jacks? (Forgive a lubber's ignorance, please.)
@@rogerstone3068 I don’t really know but I suspect it has to do with them making the job of dropping the main much easier.
Olde timey sailors below officer level were called Jack tars. Paul is right that a sail coming down without hands allows the Jacks to slack off.
Loving the small, smart choices
Looks good ❤️
Your brilliance is enlightening.💡
Nice to see you again! Good episode.
