  • In this video, I talk about some driver techniques that nobody noticed and how you can apply them to master touge racing.
Shingo is an opponent of Takumi who tries to defeat the king of Akina in the Initial D anime. He drives the red Civic EG6, an unusual choice of car to compete in touge races. As one of Takumi's first opponents, many forget he even exists, but he has several interesting ways of driving that really make him a brilliant driver.

Little FF hatches are actually very powerful on the touge. The combination of a light body and super front-heavy weight distribution means that it takes very little effort to sling the back axle around. You can control exactly how long a drift goes on using the handbrake and left foot braking, and simply floor it to pull out of a corner. It takes a lot of practice to sling yourself through the bends without losing all your speed, but it can be very powerful if it's amstered.

11:29 My theory Is that shingo pulled the handbrake and then pushed the clutch in while sliding because that Is the only way to make a FF car drift like a FR but you can do it for a short time because you loose speed and if you reangage the clutch the car straightens

Civic type R (or in this case the SiR) is no ordinary FF... high revving, VTEC, close ratio gears... almost as light as the Trueno 86.
Never underestimate a skilled FWD driver!

The technique where he bumps the back of the opponent is called a “bump and run” which is a very common and aggressive way to intimidate opponents and use there advantage against them , they do it in nascar all the time and other rally racing ive seen

Wouldn't gently pulling the handbrake just put more weight on the rear tires, thus causing more understeer?
