i'm glad to hear you had people with some pull actually fighting for you. haven't finished the video yet, but i hope something actually becomes of this complaint so other wheelchair users aren't denied care.
i can empathize with staff shortages and liability, but denials like that are the difference between a patient getting care and a patient totally giving up on seeking help and their health getting worse.

I recently we in for kidney and bladder sonogram. When I arrived, the tech told me I should have informed them I am paralyzed so they could have allocated more time....45 minutes instead of 30 minutes. I told her I had gotten the procedure while in my wheelchair before, and I would could get us through it in under 30 minutes. The tech was surprised at how easy it was to recline, flip the arm rests out of the way, and get through the procedure. i was out of there in 20 minutes. My wife explained to the tech that we had not been the ones who set up the appointment.

have had doctors and technicians say "i've never seen such a thing before" when they see that there's no reason to get out of my chair for things lol i always tell them, i can lay flat, and get my feet over my head if needed!

BTW, my primary care doctor’s office is located in a large clinic that also has Immediate Care, etc. In my primary care doctor’s area there is one larger exam room where they always send me. It even has an exam table that not only raises up and down but also can get my weight. It’s easy to slide from powerchair onto the table. Easy transfer on and off, even 2 assistants come in…I guess to be certain I don’t get stuck in between one surface and the other. Was close to my home, but I moved so longer trip. Well worth it because I kept same doctor who spends time with patients. He listens, is a problem solver.

I had a nurse refuse to help me get seated in a chair because I wasn't in a wheelchair and needed assistance basically having someone stand in front of me and grab my hands so I could sit, but because of covid she refused to touch me. Darn near fell using just my cane.

My most irritating moment in a powerchair was at Disney World. At the end of the day they have a parade. Knowing this I find a spot I think will be out of the way and roll right to the edge of the sidewalk, foot board hanging over just a little. We are 30 minutes early for the parade.. as people start to gather for it they stand in front of me on the road. Ok, it is a parade I'm not really missing that much of an experience. Then a woman stands on my feet on my foot board. I yell but due to the band/noise she doesn't react. I finally turn the chair on and move it and she falls. You can imagine the scene this caused... I had her boyfriend yelling at me until he realized she was standing on my feet. It is my memory of Disney with my kids.

I guess fully abled people can't fall? This is such a strange story. I go from being pissed to completely curious as to the back office chat they held later on.

Was I the only one that had "orange cravings" after watching this video? I have gone years, maybe a decade without eating an orange. Suddenly, I have to have one. LOL
