I love comeptition between companies like these because in the end, the winner will always be me, the consumer. I don't really care which is better by a little bit of coverage. I have AT&T and have no problem at all with drop calls or coverage. It's not affecting me at the moment where I live so I'm not gonna pay attention to Verizon. Besides, they made a huge mistake attacking AT&T first.
It is February 22, 2024 and I come to comment that after 14 years, this video is still accurate. On this day in 2024 AT&T has a National Outage but Verizon is fine lol
The reason why AT&T has such smaller coverage is because AT&T supports EDGE, 3G, 4G, and 4G LTE. Verizon only supports 3G and LTE. AT&T has 4 networks, while Verizon has only 2 networks. So they can make their existing networks a lot bigger. If you have an iPhone 2G or iPhone 4S, AT&T is better because it has EDGE and 4G, on a Verizon 4S, you only have 3G. But if you have iPhone 5, 4, 3GS, or 3G, Verizon is the better choice, because of the huge LTE and 3G networks
Sprint was originated from GTE. Verizon was found by AT&T Corp due to Anti-trust judgement. Verizon is technically a AT&T side branch which has to run a totally different network to avoid being punished by law. CDMA was their best choice of getting around the law as a new company.

where I am, at&t's 3g speed is a lot slower than verizon's. However, when I went to California, the speed on my iphone 3gs was quite faster. I just hope At&t can spread their faster 3g speed all over the country. It's sooooooooo slow where I live, but still a lot faster than 2g

@mij194 This is 3G coverage which is data. It's not regular coverage. Also, the current AT&T isn't the original 'Ma Bell' AT&T, it just owns the naming rights to the name AT&T. The current AT&T and Verizon Wireless both were part of the original AT&T. AT&T = Southwestern Bell. Verizon = Bell Atlantic.
I've had AT&T for years. Stayed loyal. HA!! I live a mile from Disneyland and complained monthly for 3 years about NO service at my nieborhood. Finally asked for some sort of service compensation but they wouldn't do piddly. So... I went to Verizon and now have full bars and fine service. Just wish I could browse while on phone as AT&T. Why the h--- can't we all just get along and cooperate. Imagine what we've have if technology worked together.

Brand names like Sprint, AT&T, and T mobile won't even exsists, will they? In 2009, AT&T has 82 million wireless customers, and more than 150 million total customers nation wide.
