I got a Hoffman Condor and it's a complete bike with sealed hubs and cromoly and double wall rims and 8 spline cranks for 300 and I've replaced everything but the frame and I've cracked the frame and got rewelded ... I'm still ridding the frame it's going strong and I've 180 down a 6 stair and jumped down a 10 stair , it works perfectly and that's a bike I would recommend to any beginner and it will last them a year or 2 depending on how hard a rider they are
@Brant_Moore I was thinking about buying the white one so I have 2 but their gonna be releasing another one soon so I'm gonna wait and see that one looks like.
1st bike was an olddddd like 2011 18' hoffman condor. my current bike is a custom subrosa simo next bike when my frame snaps ill prolly get anothrr subrosa, or an s&m/cult
Yeah bought a kink gap XL 21 inch top tube with a free coaster double-walled rim and enclosing I was just wondering what you think about the kink brand.
A good video, although IMO "warranty" should be a factor too. Because if you buy used, even if it's a great custom bike, most likely you have no warranty. With a new bike, if all the receipts etc are kept, you've got warranty to cover you as a safe guard
You're definitely right. Did i forget to mention it toward the end? Haha Already can't remember but I feel like I did when talking about it at the end of the video. Thanks for watching man!!
question: when you start comparing bike 1,2,3 n 4 how do you know what parts are better than other parts...? I'm not implying a companies parts are good or bad, just in your opinion, what's the easiest way to potentially avoid a weaker and more prone to breakage brand/parts? example: mission, salt, odyssey, or the companies name(ex: Fit). fyi: no 48 spline cranks to be found. For a 400 to 500 price range, you tend to notice each bike is trimmed off on different area's of the bike. most common is double wall rim in the back n single wall rim in the front. mix of sealed and non-sealed hubs. crossbreed of 4130 chromo with Hi-Ten w/ Integrated HT, Cromo DT and DO
Thats a reallllly good question. Im going to have to make a video about this one. Mission, Salt, and Rant are all lower grade parts companies owned by larger companies. In general the big brand names are better and most parts from them will be better than the lower tiers. You're pretty safe with names like Odyssey, Sunday, Shadow, Subrosa, Fit, WeThePeople, Demolition, Profile...the list really could go on but its all of the bigger named companies.

@@Brant_Moore Double wall rims first though hey? Do they bend from jumping off curbs and stairs or when trying spin tricks? Cause I would rather sealed berrings.. I guess buying a bike with double wall rims would have sealed berrings anyway
Wow MTB's are way too difficult. haha Yea in talking with a few people before making this one, they said that the first thing people have trouble with are the rims. Single walled rims usually bend and need attention before unsealed hubs start to go.
Seems like a super solid bike that will last quite a while with no quick replacements. How does it compare to other similar bikes around the 400$ mark?
I got a sweet deal on a bmx bike at performance bike; a new se hoodrich for $175 normally $439. What if you can’t score a deal? Are there any decent big box/ Walmart bikes out there?
I would say that unless its 100% the only option, people should stay away from buying a bike at a big box store if they're planning on learning to ride and sticking with it for any decent amount of time. The problems that will quickly arise are preventable by trying to come up with just a little more money and getting something better. Mongoose does make a pretty legit complete bike, but its also up there in the price range of other legit bikes. If strapped for cash entirely, a used bike on craigslist or the facebook marketplace is the best bet for getting something that will last and be safe for bmx.
Sealed hubs over chromoly....there is something wrong in the industry if that's a legit concern. Hubs should be quality enough even unsealed, but it seems these days that's not so. In the old days, non-chromoly parts wasn't even a serious consideration.
It used to be that unsealed hubs were quality. It just meant cheaper, but no less precise. I have an unsealed hub on my bike now, and it's it....problematic to say the least, lol.
That wig looks awesome 👌

Sounds like a decent bike for a good price!
@Brant_Moore it is for sure
I bought the haro mirra pro tribute for $800 and just upgraded the gyro, rear brakes, put on metal pedals and kneesaver bars.
Hell yea, that’s definitely one that ticks just about all of the boxes. Especially with your upgrades. You get the white or red?
@Brant_Moore red one

Thank you! Sale parts are always a better option. Especially older colorways because they're often the exact same parts but just older colors.
Thanks. Very helpful

Never buy destro for a starter bike, its unsealed and single wall rims with hi ten steal frame
This is so much easier to understand than mountain biking

Is it good to order one online from source bmx?
Stacked BMX!
Or your local bike shop!

Should I try and buy aluminium. And are those 80s style plastics spokes OK or 🤔
It's for my son he's 9 .
For a 9 year only you probably don’t have much to worry about unless he’s trying tricks and jumping things.

Yep you're right and the freecoaster has sealed bearings so even better in that regard too.
