So I have the 2023 limited , I have not done the recent update that changes how the heated seats function works. However I noticed a major issue not sure if it’s me or anyone use ? It’s the Navigation system … I went to use it for the first time and it was way out dated for the area I was in ?? The map was correct how ever non of the exits were updated ( sometimes exits get changed from major construction projects ) the app was way off. By 60 exit numbers . Anyone else notice this ?
Anyone who had the nav experience this?
Did you update the MAP of your state? Map update is not done by updating system, but within Navigation
There are separate Navigation updates!
I just use google maps xD
I use google maps works great everytime.
Your front door view is like a movie set or post card image!
Yes is True .. right there a chapel a Temple and the mountains.
yeah but unfortunatly that stupid lds church ruins the view
Thanks brother!!
Thanks Carlos!
One way to help save the AC compressor is making sure you turn off your AC before turning off the car.
Thanks for the tip!
Shouldnt happen on a new car. These are less a year old or pretty much new cars. Thats pathetic. Doesnt deserve a Subaru badge on it.
Great channel. I live in Davis County and took mine to St. George back in March and the strong headwinds bobbing the hood while driving at 80 mph had me a bit worried, but other than that it hasn’t bothered me since. The wind was really bad that day so it made sense to me. I like your perspective on the RSV, it helps me feel better about the whole thing. I’m not going to worry about unless if something happens. I haven’t heard of anything serious from other people thus far.
Thanks Garrett!
my 2020 wrx doesnt act like that, i wonder if it has anything to do with steering rack being changed in the 22+ interesting nonetheless. i get hit by 60 mph winds in vegas going up towards st george to pick up my son. kinda glad i didnt trade mine in, i decided to wait until one of the last year models like i did on my 2020.
I saw your WRX (in my 22 WRX) when I was there last week touring the temple, I grew up not far from there and love the content man, hope to see you at some subie meets this year.
Right on Trace! Another UT friend. Hope to see you as well!
There are grey rubber stops under the hood towards the front. They're on the body of the car, not the hood itself, just to clarify. They twist to lengthen or shorten. I could actually feel the play in my hood until I lengthened them. I haven't noticed any hood flexing since.
Thank you!!!
Legend 🙌
The hood shell is not attached to the skin with an adhesive. The grey front stops can’t reduce the problem.
Excellent content, as always. I have not had the radio issue. I do recommend you get the update, it makes the fan buttons a little bigger and of course the heated seats Don't go to a sub menu anymore. The UI looks outdated, I'm huge believer of function of a form. I installed deletes yesterday and my oh my that cold start shakes the walls of my garage 😄
I 2nd this, ever since the last update not a single Apple CarPlay drop out. Thank goodness that Facebook had a thread on this with links for the download and step by step instructions.
Thanks Able I’m going to have to for sure check that out! Thanks man and I agree on cold starts lol
Thank you Mark! I’ll give it a try. Just the usb file convo on FB yeah?
@@Gonin60 yes
@@truckinguy92 cool thanks!
I just bought a 23 base Rex, came with STI short throw right from the factory, upgraded LED lights inside, came with 2 types of floor mats, trunk organizer kit, emergency kit, all for exactly 30k. It’s my first Subaru, I love it! Great vid!
Congrats!
My 2022 doesn't have any of these issues other than the crappy stock stiff suspension. Guess I got a good one. I replaced the OEM coilovers with aftermarket and solved that issue. I have the base model so I don't have the big screen and have no issues with my infotainment system.
That’s great Chad!
Love the gray. I think it's the color that goes best with the cladding.
Thanks! I like it.
Great Video, thank you so much! Btw, your exhaust is not loud IMO, love the rumble sound. If not too much trouble, can you let me know your wheel setup? Specifically, what Offset are you running. Thank you again!
Thanks! 18x8.5 and 35m offset
500 miles in on my 23 WRX, I love the tighter suspension, it really hugs corners. And it's the first head unit I don't mind. Which is good because there is no way to change it! And I agree on sealant issue, not enough to cause problems.
Right on!
I just hit 1100 miles on my '23 manual WRX and now the real fun starts. I agree though, I love an extremely tight suspension. So much fun to corner. No complaints at all for me so far.
@@DesertFoxWRX Same! Just a few hundred more till break in complete. My only complaint is the rock hard arm rest in this version!
we took our 23 WRX that has $5k in coilovers, bushings, sways, wheels, 200tw tires, and compared to my husband's STI back to back at the track, the WRX handling was way behind. At the Willow track event was a Subaru engineer who let us know the new WRX uses the SUV global platform open front and rear diff with electronic brake vectoring, where as the STI handles better because it has actual front LSD, center DCCD diff, and rear LSD.
Looking at your car at the beginning of the video I'm pretty sure your car Needs a black mesh grill. 😉
I noticed the hood bounce too and I backed those little grey stoppers out a turn and it took 90% of the shaking out.
Right on Chris! I’ll have to get a black mesh grill.
Our Subaru Ascent has the 70MPH+ hood flutter. Kind of unnerving at first, but after 70k miles, it hasn't gotten worse, nor has shown any other form of wear.
Good to know. Thanks!
Our Ascent does that too. Must be a Subi thing unfortunately
I have a low milage 2014 the same color as this one. It's been a great car but I also had the AC compressor lock up a few weeks ago. I ended up changing the compresser, all the o rings, and the condenser just incase any metal shavings went through the system but otherwise It's my first Subaru and It's been a fun and quick little car.
Right on!
At least that hood scoop is functional. I have noticed that my 23 ZL1 hood has a tiny bit of flex. Didn't the Camaro SS have the magride suspension? You could adjust that to touring mode for a smooth ride. How noisy is that church across the street?
It did have magnaride suspension but the 1le did tighten things up. It’s been pretty busy cause they are doing a temple open house
I have the AC Compressor issue, it makes this breathing like sound, took it for service and they said the noise is normal
But still works fine yeah?
smart idea for a video. potential buyers are going to want to know what most people are complaining about other than the obvious things.
Thanks!
Its insanely stiff. I work at Lamborghini so I get to move around a ton of cars and other fun brands we get in on trade but they aren't nearly as stiff and rough as this car. I haven't done any mods yet as I'm worried about the whole RTV in the oil thing. Mine still has 1600 miles, so maybe I'll add exhaust and intake in a few months. But riding around in the city is tough with this. I bought it as my daily but I am resorting to using my Corolla hatchback on some days.
Thanks for the insight!

Just got my WRX a week ago and I’m loving it so far. Does anyone else’s side mirror glass look like it’s shaking or vibrating when driving over bumpy roads? I know the suspension is stiff and that’s what I signed up for, but just wondering if that’s normal for this car or if I should get it checked out or replaced?
I haven’t noticed that. Anyone here see that?
Man I am really digging those rims. Theyd look soooo good on my 23 CBS 🤤
Thank you! I like them!
I finally took delivery of my 23' WRX LTD, took me 2.5 months since its custom ordered. Tint next week!
Congrats!!!
Me i wish the loud start up would stay so i didnt need to buy a new exhaust setup hahah, i noticed my hood flex pretty early and thought i messed up the latch but nah glad its not just mine
Yes for the loud start up all the time. Yeah hood flex seems to be common
I haven't had any infotainment issues before or after update. The hood bouncing I notice but it doesn't bother me anymore. Coming from modded imports in my younger days, I enjoy the stiffer suspension for now.
Right on!
Nice clean ride! I'm part of the Golf R/GTI community and we have our own set of issues lol
Love those cars too!
Mk7 R here!
Has anyone else noticed the rear end clunk? I know the crosstreks had an issue where the rear strut towers were over torqued from factory. It seems worse over smaller bumps.
Yeah I have. I’m like wtf 😂. Small bumps
I haven’t but now I’m curious lol
It makes the same sound as my bloody, 05 sunfire 🤣. I wanted to see if anyone else has noticed it before the stealership tells me it's normal. I'm planning on sound deadening the trunk of the car because it seems like a lot of noise comes from back there. I'm fine with a stiff ride, but I hate that tin can feeling clunks and rattles give you.
I have the same exhaust. Get pool noodles they fit perfect and work great for silencer on cold start!!
Good idea!
I just got a 2024 last week and the hood flex/bounce is the first thing I noticed driving it home. I actually stopped to check it because I thought it wasn’t latched all the way. Now that I know it’s normal, I’m good.
Yeah you should be good
we took our 23 WRX that has $5k in coilovers, bushings, sways, wheels, 200tw tires, and compared to my husband's STI back to back at the track, the WRX handling was way behind. At the Willow track event was a Subaru engineer who let us know the new WRX uses the SUV global platform open front and rear diff with electronic brake vectoring, where as the STI handles better because it has actual front LSD, center DCCD diff, and rear LSD.
Yeah it’s hard to beat the transmission and handling of the STI along with other benefits.
i have a 22 WRX GT, yes its a cvt but the electronic suspension makes the ride much better and it still rips through corners. yea the hood flexes while driving but my brain tunes it out. infotainment is laggy but liveable. 7000 miles and the AC still works great in the texas summer
Right on!!
to say. i’m new to knowing cars. but i assume the ac compressor is the ac. i have about 10k miles on my wrx and my ac doesn’t blow air as it used to when i first got it. would the ac compressor be the issue or is it other things like the thermostat, etc. if anyone is able to give me an answer i’d much appreciate it !
If it’s new and under warranty I would take it in
Man I like were you live in the back ground to wake up to see the mountain that's is beautiful and I'm starting to like the new wrx some ppl say it's ugly but till you see one it look better then the last one.
Thanks!
Seriously that view makes me want to leave the cheap living of OK and move to Utah. 😮
Also your wheels look really good
Thanks Jerry!
I have the same year premium in the same color as you. I am absolutely noticing the hood bouncing, I've gotten used to it. I also have the 3.1/2 burnt tip axle back deletes, and yep, the cold start is loud as f, but I love it, I giggle like a school girl every time I cold start it, not really sure if my neighbors in my condo complex share my enthusiasm when I fire it up at 4 a.m. but i give zero sh**s. Not having any issues with the infotainment yet. But if I had a small complaint, it would be the stiff ride, but it is what it is, if i want a comfortable ride we take the wife's RAV4. Good video man, i'm hitting subscribe right now.
Welcome brother! Great perspectives!
Do you notice any clunking in the rear end? I don't mind the stiffness, it's just that damn clunk, lol. I find the tiniest bumps make this loud clunk, almost like the trunk is loose. I'm sure it has something to do with the rebound on the struts. My car had like 3k on it when I bought it, so I'm nervous they beat the snott out of it at the dealership.
@@danmac6185 I have not noticed any clunk in the rear end,,,,yet
The infotainment issue has been found across all suabaru models since the new design update around 2019-2020. My 2020 impreza has had the worst of it all, barely functioned. The new wrx is just slow or restarts itself on rare occasions but works great otherwise and I like it alot better on these new ones. Also glad to know im not the only one who things the FA24 sound like a tractor on idle as well. The thing clanks and clacks for sure.
Thank you
I own a 22' i put a remark axleback on it and I definitely feel bad for my neighbors in the morning! Its loud! I also have had problems with my infotainment freezing but otherwise I love this friggin' car!!!
Glad to hear!!
Just curious what are the wheel specs? They look nice and offset looks good too
Hey hey! 18x8.5 35m
go get the update for the head unit. they separated the seat warmer buttons
Yep I need to
I enjoy driving a stick and I’m strongly considering this vehicle or at least the base model. Would you say this is an affordable vehicle to service and maintain?
Yeah I would say so
If you want a little bit soft to ride you can get a taller sidewall tire to absorb the pumps.
Sounds good
don't go crazy if you're lowered
The tires that go with the 17" wheels on the base version may offer a somewhat more compliant ride. I tested a base version and and found the ride to be reasonably comfortable.
Right on
For HOOD PROBLEMS Subaru have rubber hood adjusters turn them to stop hood flexing issues work very well.
Thanks for the info!
my 06 hood bounced too this has been the norm for veterans
Got it
How are the seats on long trips?
Uncomfortable
Where in Utah is this? I live in Colorado and it’s beautiful here as well!
Near UT county
0:55 Ahhh the "shaker hood" thats what i call it. I noticed it right away on the test drive and at first i was like ew, but then i thought to myself that's actually bad ass. It gives you an extra sensation to apply to your speed. IE you feel like your going faster because the car looks like its going to shake itself to pieces the faster you go. Your life is on the line and this thing is gonna BLOWWWWWW! Of course it never does and the groceries get home just fine. 😆
Thats a feature not a bug IMO.
I like it!
what percent tint did you go with?
20
Rough north Lake Tahoe roads gave me a free shaker hood on my 22 WRX.
Lol I like it!
I have the '23 Sport in this colour. It got smashed up 6 weeks ago, after having it for only 3 months (9600 KM). I don't know why I keep watching WRX videos. They hurt my soul. Man, I miss my car.
I’m sorry to hear that!
Hey I’m a dad and I daily my 23 wrx as my project is my sti swapped 97 Impreza wagon lol. It is very stiff and it’s great I have taken it on group rides. And drive my one year old to his drs appointments in it.
I love it!
@@Gonin60 I do to handles great on the mountain roads. And I enjoy the loud cold starts. Still isn’t as fast as my wagon. But it’s definitely more reliable lol
The Bluetooth drop out is very annoying. You'll be listening to music and then it cuts until you reset the connection
I’m starting to notice this as to
@@Gonin60 it happened the second I got the car. I'm gonna ask my dealer today about the issue
@@genxwarlock let me know what you find out
@@Gonin60 so I was told that they have had a few customers with the same issue. They have to have subaru address the issue with an update
Do these new wrxs suffer from low oil preassure at the track like the new twins?
Focus has been around the twins. I don’t know enough to make accurate comment
@@Gonin60 thx!
any notable drone with the remark axle back?
Yeah it has some drone and it’s hard for people to hear me when I’m on a phone call
So I got a Aeroflow Dynamics axle back muffler delete, which is pretty much the same thing as a remark. There is definitely drone. Now, if it was just me and my wife I wouldn’t even bat an eye. The problem is that I have a newborn and a 2 year old that sit in the back. I fear that it is a bit too loud for them in the back. So what I’m going to do is take out a car seat and have my wife drive while I sit in the back to see how bad it actually is. If it’s pretty bad I might have to put the stock mufflers back on sadly. I love the sound and the characteristics of it, but it might just be a bit too loud for the kiddos.
does the premium have heated side view mirrors?
I don’t think so but I can’t remember
I just traded in a 2014 WRX hatchback for the 2023 WRX. I guess the new WRX does have stiffer suspension than other contemporary cars but it is a lot less stiff than the 2014 WRX.
It was more rough huh?
@@Gonin60 Yeah. We have a lot of potholes in the Boston area and hitting a deep one was very jarring in the 2014 WRX. Much less so in the 2023 WRX.
@@daniellocke9534 I normally buy a new car every 10 years or so. I decided to trade in the 2014 after 9 years. It was running fine. I could have run it for another year or so. But I felt like getting a new car and the dealer gave me $10k for the 2014 as a trade-in. As I mentioned, the 2023 is less jarring going over potholes and the back seats have more room for the rare cases I have backseat passengers.
The chassis of the 2022-2023 WRX is stiffer
@@benmorris7276 My understanding is that the chassis is stiffer (more welds and structural adhesive) but the suspension seems to be more compliant than the 2014 WRX (different shocks and springs and, perhaps, longer travel?)
I personally don't agree with the stiffness of the car. But then again mine is a Aus spec RS.. I am going with some chassis braces because it's not stiff enough
Thanks for sharing
I had two STIs a 2017 and a 2018. Both were way stiffer than my WRX GT. But the GT feels like it is a better tuned, more refined setup. I am enjoying the adjustable dampers.
what size wheels/tires you running? setup looks amazing
Stock tires. 18x8.5 +35
@@Gonin60 awesome, it's looking real good
When you was showing the infotainment and then heard how load the exhaust was😂😂
Bro it’s so loud lol
Sheesh i wanted to mod mine and after getting it just 2 weeks ago and hearing about the RTV issue and compressor issues im not gonna mess with this thing at all will probably trade mine in 6 months or less
Are you enjoying it?
Give it time. I think RTV issue is overblown. Compressor seems like a legit problem
I’m enjoying mine
The rtv issue is NOT common. It is seems to be way overblown
@@diallo1347 I agree but people continue to be worried. I am not.
Thinking of getting the VB. I have 2016 limited, it’s been good to me
Go test drive one and see what you think
@@Gonin60 thinking of getting the SPT version. Have you driven it?
@@KK-tt6ui I haven’t. Seen some reviews on it
I noticed that i feel my wiper movement in my clutch on my wrx 2023
Interesting
Same
I got new fender shrouds greatly improved the hood shake.
Thanks for sharing!
@Gonin60 using the key fab to lock and unlock the car, as opposed to touchless entry and starlink. It should resolve touch interface issues. Bluetooth, radio, blank screen.
Wow! Waht a nice view from your house!
Thanks man!!
Hold on a minute...I bought my '22 WRX BECAUSE its loud even when stock (my ETS axel back system makes it even louder) AND it's stiff (I've just ordered a PERRIN strut brace to make the corners even stiffer! Sounds to me like the people who are complaining in forums didn't research what they were buying...I LOVE my Subie!!
Thanks
My 22 Forester hood does that too. Nice scoop on the 22's. But thats about it for me. Enjoy it though; not throwing shade. Just not a fan.
Totally fair!
my 2021 STI definitely doesnt have a flexy hood. that means they really lightened it up i.e cut corners.
I don’t agree
The hood and front quarter panels are aluminum on the new WRX. I checked it with a magnet. It’s light, not cheap.
can we take a second to appreciate the background ascetics
Thanks! I’m lucky to live where I do
What percent did you get your windows tinted?
20 all around
Thank you sir!
My car came with the STI performance mufflers (dealer ordered) and it’s about as loud I’d like to hear it. I’m not modding my car as I like my warranty too much. The hood flex really sucks and makes me not want to keep this car.
I was thinking about going with those but I can get the entire Cobb system for about the same price. The Cobb sounds pretty tame but I have only heard it in videos. I dont want loud but just a bit more than stock.
@@chrischarles9218 Mine also came from the dealer with the STI exhaust installed. While its nice I agree for the money you can get an aftermarket setup to meet your tastes.
Dang Mark! Sorry to hear the hood flex has been that if of an issue.
I agree

Love the content. I got distracted by the view you have. Jealous lol

I have to agree, those rims look good. Looks like rims from an evo
they should put a screen on the outside of the oil pick up....
What are your thoughts behind that?
5:29 Wow nice background view you have there
Thank you!
Dam I thought the stock exhaust is super quiet 😂u shoulda hear the cold start on the remark muffler delete 😂
I have that exhaust
Having owned a car with hood flex many years ago, I will absolutely skip this generation for now. Hopefully the mid-cycle refresh fixes that issue in addition to the ugly rear end.
Agree on the rear-end. That was my deal breaker 😮💨
Rear end is tough. I agree there.
Yeah I get that
God i miss the iconic UELH sound.
That sound is iconic
Its a "Boxer" motor...A "Boxter" is a model of Porsche.
Yes thank you correction police. I almost bought a Boxster S a week and made an error. Ps Boxter is wrong. A Porsche Boxster. Oh how the turn tables have turned.
Here's another big thing: the stock brakes are absolute garbage. After 3k miles I've finally swapped the pads out to EBC Redstuff and what a huge difference it has been.
Yep I forgot that one but they are not good
I never knew someone complains about the cold start up exhaust loudness 😆 shit sounds bitter sweet to me.

Well the lower boost means it can be tuned for more potential
@Gonin60 yeah they want us to void our warranty so when they start failing like the brz we are screwed
what absolutely amazing view.
Thank you!!
The stiffer ride makes it feel more stable . People need to understand the car is not meant to be smooth ,the price you pay for the car not leaning going around curves at a higher rate of speed. That hood flex don't bother me it has a dam scoop on the hood. I hope I don't have RTV issue

@Gonin60 you'd think on the ejs they'd fix heads or tuning, oiling, cooling. No.
@@Gonin60one day will be out of warranty and cost an arm and leg to fix anything. Older wrx sti are expensive to fix, these are going to be astronomically worse.
Hood flex? Please. Every car has that. My newer camry does it. The cold start sound? That’s normal. The engine runs a certain way to get up to operating temps quicker.
Hely, first, enjoy your Camry. The cold start you have no idea. Thank you for educating me on a cars operating temperature.
Some people just worry about too much shit
Yes
These seem more like non car people complaints to be honest the WRX is a rally inspired sports sedan so it's going to be loud and have stiff suspension. I don't understand why people would buy the WRX and think it would have the ride quality of a luxury sedan and have a quite exhaust. That's just my 2 cents if they want a more luxurious feeling Subaru they should have gotten them selves into a Legacy
These are just common complaints and issues I see
@@Gonin60 I just saying some of the common complaints (other than the Ac compressor which would be annoying)you've seen sound like they were made by people who either didn't understand the kind of car the car they were getting into or are just non car people the WRX is meant to be loud and have stiffer suspension

Pop your hood and twist the little dampeners until they have 3 threads below the plate they sit in. It'll hold your hood tighter and help with the hood wobble.
