Amazing! My builders seemed to have had a hard time fitting the oblique to the doors/windows because of the flashings. Even on time-lapse, it looks like everything went quite smooth for you. Do you have any other videos showing how you did it? Also, I will be paining the cladding as soon as I pass inspection this week (hopefully). Any tips (e.g. how did you clean, brush/roller)? Cheers!
Thanks ! The window/head flashing were pretty straight forward. Because I had a random pattern I spent some time to map out each wall first, paying attention to where the joins would finish around windows. Then its just about getting some accurate measurements of your window cuts, and allowing some wiggle room to slide it in whilst still maintaining the minimum cover. RE Paint: we primed our boards again, even though they have a factory primer. We also used a low sheen paint, Resene Lumberslider. This helps remove some of the orange peel look of the fibre cement.
Josh Chapman thanks! If you do another vertical cladding again.. do in slow motion please 😁 ... The amount of labour I paid for cladding is astronomical. Now I am trying to do as much as I can and learn everything. Keep up with the videos, they are very good and full of tips I wish I had before I started building..
Hey Arangy, great spotting that we change cladding!!! Long story short.. originally we were going to do Abodo Weatherboad + Vertical Metal. Re Abodo: It was quite expensive, and a few of the builder I spoke to said it was very soft, it dents really easily, and it was quite expensive, on par with cedar. So we went for a weatherboard from Health Based Building Re: The Metal Quote was huge, like double what I was expecting, although the product is cheap its very labour intensive to to install, so we opted to change it for Linea Oblique. We still got that vertical look that we wanted but for significantly less than metal cladding Hope this helps :)
@@nzbuilder thanks for the reply. I saw the weatherboard in your HomeRAB video. Can I ask a. which weatherboard did you choose and why? It looks like beech from the HBB website. b. your screws that you use looks like a rounded head? I think I am wrong. If it is beech, did you use a 304 or 316 nails? c. Why so special about Health Based Building weatherboard compared to others you can get from the hardware stores in Wellington? d. You are in the building trade and obviously have more knowledge in Linea Oblique. Is it easy to install than normal weatherboard?

Hi Josh Great video and we love the colours you chose. What colour did you choose for the window joinery cheers T
For Windows we choose to match the roof colour - Flaxpod :)
how much is cost to hire scaffolding for the entire house build?
Hey Halu, I pretty sure I cover that in the video but from memory it would have cost me around 15k to use a 3rd party contractor
Whats you favourite pie josh

@@nzbuilder my one is mince and cheese

Hahaha not a fan of them Hilti framing guns tho

Hi Josh, in your video last year, you were looking at Triclad and Abodo, what makes you change to Linea Oblique and timber weatherboard?
