      You ARE NOT CRAZY...about your teeth being "suffocated"!! Teeth and mouths have an ENTIRE microbiome! Killing the "bad bacteria guys" but KEEPING the "good bacteria guys" alive and communicating in our mouths is more important than most people know!!! That is very intuitive of you!! I loved this video. Helped me a lot! I have wanted straight teeth for FOREVER! Great information Kathleen!! (Look up Nadine Artemis...I heard her first on Dave Asprey's Bulletproof podcast in 2015).

      I wouldn’t trust a company that blatantly lies. They claim they get in contact with your dentist but they don’t, I have patients that have used them and I have never been contacted by SDC. For proper orthodontics you need to have xrays and a full examination by a Dentist. If you have untreated gum disease, moving the teeth can cause serious issues. Moving the teeth too fast causes bone loss around your teeth. I just don’t believe that it’s worth the gamble you only have one set of teeth you should do it the proper way.

    Hi, orthodontist here 👋🏻 so glad to hear you've completed your treatment and you're happy with your smile! You look gorgeous!
    Just a couple things I wanted to clarify about clear aligner treatment -
    - the trays are usually changed every week (7days), not every month. Maybe that is why it ended up taking so long?
    - you're right about the bumps (aka attachments)! They do make the movements more efficient which is why we often use them
    - there are many aligner systems out there. Invisalign is like the Coke of clear aligners - it's a name everyone recognizes but it's not the only one
    - I would be very wary of companies that sell direct to consumer (like smile direct club, candid, etc) because they do not have a doctor (orthodontist or dentist) setting up your treatment! Like you said, you've got to be cavity free and have healthy gums and bones for teeth to move safely during treatment. These other companies don't take the necessary x-rays or do an exam to evaluate that. Please be cautious and take your health seriously! It may be cheaper now, but it will be way more expensive if you're teeth are moved out of the bone and you have to get implants to replace them
    Now go show off that new smile!

    • @amyseagraves5272
      @amyseagraves5272 4 года назад +1

      They have fixed that issue by now! My husband does it and he did it first it had sharp edges. But they don’t now. And if there’s some issue, you can just file it away with a regular nail file.

    Love this video! I’m an orthodontic assistant so I work with braces and Invisalign. I’m glad you’re happy with the result!
    DO NOT do smile direct club. They are facing lawsuits right now. Go to an orthodontist or your dentist. They spend time on each individual case and work with a lab technician customizing everything to make sure that each patient will have the best result.
    Also you want to wear your Invisalign for 22 hours a day. Basically all the time except for when you’re eating or brushing your teeth.
    Also I was shocked to hear that the trays were cutting your mouth! A little irritation is normal, but it shouldn’t be like that. I’m glad you were able to file them down. Make sure you wear your retainer so your teeth don’t shift 😘

    Things to consider when deciding between the two :
    Invisalign requires alot of self control and discipline. You cant take out braces but you can take out Invisalign . You must wear it for 22 hrs a day for best results and stick to the schedule. That means if you are a snacker you got to take them out , clean them and your teeth, and put them back in. Also, they fucking hurt so youll be tempted to take them out.
    Cost: they are about the same , for me my invisalign cost 5k and braces were around the same.
    Time: Depending on your bite , braces might be a better option. Get a second opinion. If you need surgery down the line get braces, I wish I did that instead .

      I got braces. The Invisalign I would have taken out. Also I had buck teeth and Invisalign only straightens and bridges gaps maybe as far as I know. My dentist had to shave my horse teeth and tighten the braces. It also only took me less than 18 months. Invisalign seems to drag out

    • @Yummi_913
      @Yummi_913 4 года назад +5

      Wish I went with braces too because I moved a lot, lost a lot of trays, had to wait for them to get replaced, couldn't wear them when I had swollen gums (I have large gaps so shit gets in my gums easily) because the pain was so bad, and just have an unstable life. I also had my wisdom teeth on the right come in and need removal. I started in 2015 and didn't get to tray 7 before needing I refinement due to my inability to stay consistent. I would have been done in 2017 already. This year I did SO GOOD and disciplined myself... Only to get pregnant and suffer from chronic pregnancy gingivitis. It took me getting a special tooth paste to control that shit. During that gap in my tray use, my dog ate the tray I was using AND the one prior, so now I'm literally stuck with no safe tray to use for my stage and my dentist is 3 hours away and I'm not allowed to drive in my condition... So I have to wait for my fiance's schedule to align with their few openings and hope they don't charge me up the ass for the replacements (because I can't work currently and prenatal care is wrecking my debt) and... I don't want the dentist voicing her disappointment in me even though she's 100% right 😭😭
      All this could have been avoided if I just went with braces! I don't care if I couldn't eat everything I wanted. Hindsight is 20/20 😩

      That's awesome! Words of advice (you may already know, but I wish I would've known!):
      1. use an emory board to soften the edges (like Kathleen suggested) but don't go to town. don't want to shave off too much.
      2. if the ortho or whoever does not provide it, ask if they have some type of wax to rub on the tray to make it less abrasive on your gums.
      3. baby oragel along with acetaminophen or ibuprofen will be your best friend cause the first few trays are the worst! your gums will adapt to the constant rubbing
      I hope it all goes well for you Nicole!

    • @theblondecrew
      @theblondecrew 4 года назад +3

      Nadia Exama they are not legitimate- it’s all a scam. Trust me, I’m a dental hygienist. I have seen so many terrible, terrible cases with my patients. There are so many lawsuits against them right now it’s ridiculous. I just find it crazy that people are giving into the idea that they can move their teeth safely at home... if you break a bone, you go to a doctor to have it fixed. So why are people thinking it’s legit to literally move teeth (bones in your skull) around safely without there being any consequences? I would ALWAYS consult with your dentist/hygienist before considering any “at home” procedure like that. It’s SO DANGEROUS

    • @rustyleann7257
      @rustyleann7257 4 года назад +5

      Nadia Exama my mother in law works at the dentist/ orthodontist. They get ppl in all the time with loose teeth, teeth that have fallen out or about too, nerve damage , dead teeth from smile direct and other online places. Because through the process your teeth are moving, if you move too quickly it can cause bone lost. They send you to a ortho like once. Like she said all the trays are sent at one time. You never see another one again, so if something is going on during the process and you don’t know, and you move on to the next tray... it can cause irreversible damage. That’s why with braces and invisible line you have to go every single month to check for all the signs. No mother in law says most the time it younger adults and she cry’s because there’s times there is nothing they can do for you. And you have to have implants which are about $1000 a tooth.

    My treatment was only 5 trays in the span of 10 weeks since my teeth had shifted forward, creating kind of an overbite but I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT! It did hurt a little in the first few days but thanks to KATHLEEN I tried to wear my trays for 20+ hrs everyday so as to not elongate the process lol.
    I didn’t know not everyone is eligible for Invisalign but if you’re able to I highly recommend it :))

      Hi, I’m a licensed dental assistant. Smile direct is getting sued by so many people and in California, it’s getting shut down. There’s no doctor regulating and the “doctors” that are, don’t want to give their license numbers because they “don’t want to be accountable”. Smile Direct only moves the six anterior teeth in the front on the top and bottom, which means everyone ends up with either spaces or a messed up bite.

I am so thankful that I actually did it and paid the money for it and actually had the discipline for them, because it was 100% worth it in the end. My teeth were so bad before, and now they’re literally flawless. I recommend it to anyone who’s a candidate. Kathleen is so right about the 3 days, but after that it’s easy peasy!!

    I had that same feeling on my teeth. It felt like they were suffocated as well and it made a. It anxious. And my husband would tell me I was weird.

    I just started Invisalign yesterday, wish I would have filed them before I wore them for the first hour, you are not kidding about the cuts!

    Smile Direct is great if you only need straightening if you need correction for bite or anything else, it’s not for you. I’ve had classic braces and smile direct is great. Also Advil PM is the best when you’re doing a new tray and changing them at night. Filing the edges of the trays is recommended if needed if it’s really bad.

      @@jaik923 I find it so funny and relatable. I'd react the same way and my boyfriend would totally tell me I'm going through with it. 😂😂

    I had braces on my bottom teeth in 2006-2007 for 6 months and my mom and I decided that it would be best if I did the permanent retainer. Best decision I ever made, I don’t ever have to worry about remembering to put them on at night or worry if they get destroyed or lost.

    im doing Invisalign right now and so happy i did!! there's definitely some things you have to get used to - the attachments, the slight lisp you get, and having to wear them all the time. on the plus side you see a huge change in your teeth and its really satisfying to put new trays in every week and see your teeth get better and better! plus - i've found since you have to take the trays out to eat - you're less likely to snack. ps - DO NOT DO SMILE DIRECT CLUB!! i went to them first before Invisalign since it was cheaper and it was such bullshit! you need a real dentist for something like this - definitely give Invisalign a go! i cant wait to be done :)
