  • Steve convinces everyone not to take these 5 gadgets with them on their next camping trip and then decides to take all but one of them anyway!
And yes technically one of these items is not a gadget!

Your title was right I don’t need any of those things. My camping light is an LED bicycle front light from Action that cost €1.99 including batteries. Three years down the road they’re still going. Small, lightweight and efficient. I carry shampoo, shower lotion, conditioner, clothes washing liquid and washing up liquid in small bottles that take up much less space than your expensive compromise. My 10 wooden clothes pegs fit in the small pocket attached to one of my panniers and my tent has more than enough guy ropes to make a decent washing line. I do actually carry a half sized washing up bowl in my top box; it’s very useful, takes up next to no space and is a useful container for so many small items that would otherwise rattle around or get lost. As for the hammer, why? I don’t push tent pegs with my feet, they bend, I do however carry a small wooden mallet that does the job brilliantly, it would also be pretty handy with aluminium panniers but I don’t have those easier. Much cheaper, much smaller and much lighter than your poser’s toy. Look at the money I’ve saved, that’s enough for a week away!

Lol. I have everything but the Petzl Noctilight. I agree, I don't go camping without them. Great pieces of gear that gets used often.

I use my S2S Camp Sink to quickly cool my body in warmer temps and to soak/shrink my feet after a long day hiking. does great for swelling and you can wash your clothes in it.... its a total win!!!

It’s a brilliant piece of equipment, in hindsight I wish I had got the 5 ltr version as I think that would have been more than adequate for my needs. Thanks for taking the time to comment it’s alway appreciated.👍🏼

@@GreenString I just got a new bivy tent, and I am going to start doing some minimalistic on my Honda Shadow, and that light, and water container will work well.

Wow, that’s great to hear, although if I’m honest I’m really surprised. I loved your trailer set up, it’s something I’ve never seen over here in Europe. It will be really interesting to see how you make that transition to lighter more compact camping and ultimately what you think (if you haven’t done it already)? Please document it all and get it on RUclips. Stay safe my friend.👍🏼🇬🇧 🇺🇸

Haven’t come across a camping gadget, or indeed any gadget that I didn’t need. Every one of those can be justified and included on any trip. 😁 I am currently in a electrical gadget phase. Anything with a pcb board or even better, an LCD screen, battery or a USB recharging cable has a justifiable and a valid use. 😁 there could be a whole series in the making here🤓

Haha I love it. „Electrical Gadget phase“. You can never have enough sh#t to constantly charge over and over again. I believe it keeps us mentally agile, it’s like plate spinning in the circus. Mmmm a video dedicated entirely to electronics and the ordeal of keeping them charged. I think you could be on to something there…
