1997 Viper GTS owner here. The Viper has been my dream car since I was a kid when they came out in the early 90s, and to me, there is no other car above it. You're right, the early Viper interiors leave something to be desired...but you cannot beat the body style of a Gen 2 GTS! So many curves! And the Gen 5 Viper styling is very reminiscent of the Gen 2, big curvy hood and wide hips. Congratulations on the purchase, and best of luck in your build!

Those stripes are aftermarket you couldnt even get full stripes on the car he has, it s a base model, regardless all factory stripes on vipers are painted on, those are just stickers
I used to live in Michigan back in the 90's and once in a while on a nice sunny Saturday you would see a parade of about 100 vipers cruising down the freeway... Very cool... !
I don't see it. Mike is smarter than that. No way he makes this a Viper a giveaway car. Especially to a person who could be inexperienced. A Hellcat is still a big heavy animated car. A Viper is much lighter and has so many more variables of something going wrong. You don't let anyone drive a Viper.
I feel like he might have tried hyping it as the best giveaway ever for 1mil subs but with so many people out of work the next few months it would be a terrible time to launch the most expensive giveaway.
Last year I bought a 2005 viper with 9k miles on it for $37,500. I felt like it has really clean and classic interior so in 20-30 years it will still look good. I am hoping the values will rise down the road. Anyways I just wanted to say that when I bought it I had all the service records and they were pretty much just oil changes so out of caution I had a bunch of maintenance done at my local dodge/Jeep dealer. Replace hoses to the radiator, battery, break fluid, trans fluid, new plugs and wires. Oil, air filters... just a bunch of things that had never been done on a 14 year old car just to be safe. It took the service department half a day and it cost $1100. That is the first thing I love about the viper. It also had original tires so I ordered new ones from Walmart online believe it or not but I had them mounted at another tire shop that I like to use. My favorite thing about the Viper is how exotic it looks and people think it is. We have a really fancy shopping center near our house called La Cantera. They have valet parking in the front and they have a special slightly elevated area right in the front kind of like a stage where they display the nicest cars. Usually you will see a Rolls Royce or maybe a Ferrari and I’ve seen Maserati gran turismos... etc. Anyways I take my wife over there on the weekends and every single time we have gone the valet has put my Viper up on the display. And so many times I have people watching when we pull out. That’s pretty much the only time it gets driven. Saturday or Sunday if the weather is clear. Last thing is the insurance, my full coverage is $80/month. I have it insured by the mile so up to 400 miles/month is $80 with nationwide. If I had gotten a 2005 model Lamborghini or Ferrari I can’t imagine how much the cost of ownership would be or how hard it would be just to get it serviced and this viper is way more reliable, it looks more exotic and I’m sure it’s more powerful.
A lot of people including me are too young to enjoy cars like this I'm 19 atm once I'm out of uni I can afford a car like this and I can tell you manual is 100% happening its just I dont have the money at the moment.
send it to Calvo or Nth Moto for a twin turbo setup. wanna shift quicker? PPG sequential manual. for body, i'd give it a T/A 1.0 rear spoiler and front splitter, ACR rear diffuser, and some nice wheels.

The story of the Conner Avenue Plant in Detroit was not discussed enough. The viper was mostly hand built in downtown Detroit at a purpose built plant. I wish they would have showed more of that. I was there when they restarted the plant to build this generation car. Those people had passion to build a great vehicle. The engine was built less then 5 miles from the Assembly Line. Just a great Detroit Car. Ralph Gillies who ran SRT as a brand in 2010's is an amazing car guy. I really respect him and hope he runs FCA one day. He is just a smart charismatic Detroit Car Guy..
I was shooting from LA to SF in a 911 991 Turbo S Cabrio. When I have to come back to LA I swapped cars with my co-host and drove Viper back. Oh my God I instantly became a Viper fan.
Love the Viper! I totally agree: I don't like cars with stripes on it. It's a style that kind of originated with muscle cars, so on them it looks a bit better, but sometimes you see Ferraris with those big stripes at it is just tasteless... :D

A few years (10) back, I looked at buying a slightly used Viper, while living on Long Island. At the time, the used car market has not yet heated up, and because Long Island being what it is, Vipers were plentiful. Trouble was, as Mike eluded to, they were crap. Yes, back then, you really could pick one up, used, for about $15-20k. So, when those last couple of hundred produced Vipers get down into that price range, that’s when I’ll shell out the money for one, or more to the point, that’ll be when I can afford one. Nice ride, Mike, as usual!
I have a 2016 Viper GT, put 20" wheels on front and 21" wheels on rear and lowered it too about 2 inches. If you leaving the stock suspension 20's and 21"s will fill the wheel well better.
A viper has always been a dream car of mine, I'm a big molar guy so one day ill have one. But I do believe dodge is working on it still, they say its gone but they'll come back in a few years bigger and badder with 1000 HP
Mike you should enroll in a driving school or two, nothing against your driving, it would just be super cool to see it for those of us that haven't been to one and watch your progression as they get you all learned.
I have to agree, I've only seen a handful of vipers and I've lived across the country due to my dad being military. Yet you see corvettes all across. Sure makes the viper more rare to me.

Anyway love your 6 vent hood and definitely go with the T/A spoiler it’s carbon and cost $3000 not cheap. And by the way it’s glued on. Im surprised you said your stripes are vinyl I was pretty sure the stripes were all painted on. And true very seldom you will see vipers on the road. They are unique and that’s what I like. A few years (10) back, I looked at buying a slightly used Viper, while living on Long Island. At the time, the used car market has not yet heated up, and because Long Island being what it is, Vipers were plentiful. Trouble was, as Mike eluded to, they were crap. Yes, back then, you really could pick one up, used, for about $15-20k. So, when those last couple of hundred produced Vipers get down into that price range, that’s when I’ll shell out the money for one, or more to the point, that’ll be when I can afford one. Nice ride, Mike, as usual!
Mike is the only one I know that goes 90-95 and still uses a turn signal to get over😂😂 love the content keep it up man!

I have a 2016 Viper GT, put 20" wheels on front and 21" wheels on rear and lowered it too about 2 inches. If you leaving the stock suspension 20's and 21"s will fill the wheel well better.
A viper has always been a dream car of mine, I'm a big molar guy so one day ill have one. But I do believe dodge is working on it still, they say its gone but they'll come back in a few years bigger and badder with 1000 HP

I have to agree, I've only seen a handful of vipers and I've lived across the country due to my dad being military. Yet you see corvettes all across. Sure makes the viper more rare to me.

Viper has always been my dream car. I own 3 Hellcats 2015 ,17,18. I just should have bought a Viper. Anyway love your 6 vent hood and definitely go with the T/A spoiler it’s carbon and cost $3000 not cheap. And by the way it’s glued on. Im surprised you said your stripes are vinyl I was pretty sure the stripes were all painted on. And true very seldom you will see vipers on the road. They are unique and that’s what I like. Funny enough, in Canada they are going for about 150-200k just for a GTS. They have skyrocketed in value since they were cancelled.

Matt Greene I slightly agree here, but he’s only going up 1 inch from stock so it’s not going to be that big of a difference. Esp because they will probably be lighter than the stock wheels, so I don’t think it’ll be too toooo different

The viper is truly a great car. There arent many v10 manual rwd cars
