Thanks for checkin my video Andry! I'm always on the lookout for more off the beaten path places in Seoul... Even though filming places such as Gangnam brings easy traffic to the channel, I'm more into discovering new and interesting places.
Actually this village is a beautiful place. Looks that the houses conditions are very low, but looks a lovely place. Great video Seoul Stroll, big hug from Spain.
Thanks for watching Habi Tours! Yes, this place is quite interesting on every level and people there are extremely kind. Not my typical walking location but I do like to go to places that are not really meant to be visited. In that regard, I think every part of Seoul needs to be seen.
I visited this place in 2019 the people there are very kind and I found the place quite beautiful and very peaceful. They even have a shop there! Hoping i can one day go back if its there next time I can visit Korea.
Thank you for sharing! I just learned about this place today and its fascinating. Its inspiring to see how people have created such beauty in difficult circumstances. There are beautiful gardens and flowers ...so much green...and beautiful views of the city and the mountains. I'm sure it's not easy, but I'm humbled at how they have created their homes. I saw another video that showed beautiful paintings on all the buildings and its a bit sad that those will be lost when torn down. Ultimately, when this area is developed I hooe these people are able to find even better circumstances. But I have to say ...even though there are areas that are in very bad shape and I'm sure its not easy.....I don't get a bad vibe from this place. Theressomething special about the people who live there I feel and even a sense of comfort. Of course I've never been there so maybe I'm totally off on that, but I really do get that feeling.
Me too, I know these kind of videos (places) can be divisive for some people as it's has nothing glamorous to show and it's never cool to show people's misery. But I did get a totally different vibe while walking there. As you mentioned, there's some organisation going on and there's a sens of community as well (I didn't show it but there's even a church!). Later I also want to visit the 104 Village, it is another slum in Seoul but the houses are not "illegal" constructions... Perhaps it's the same place that has the murals you were referring to. The saddest part of all this (imo) is the huge construction site across the street that is pushing forward. They're most likely going to build luxury apts.
Been watching Kensington, Philadelphia... I don't wanna call this area as slum since there is no drug or prostitution. 😅 Guess RUclips algorithm led me here becoz of the word "slum"
Nice video! I didn't think there'd be a walk-through of a slum in Korea. It seems much more organised than other slums I've seen. It's a bit sad that they have to leave the place that they've built with such a nice community though. I hope the government gives them enough support so that they can have a better future.
Yeah, I have no idea when the eviction will take place? By the look of it with the enormous construction site right across thr main street it could be only in a few years. I really hope these people will get some kind of compensation or something. 😧😕
@@SeoulStroll I just read up about it and apparently the Moon government is promising public housing for the residents so that they can reshape the area before 2025 (that's the end of President's Moon's term). It's difficult for the residents however, because renting prices are getting higher (especially because of covid) and they've heard such 'promises' of governmental support before, to no avail. It seems to me that the slum will stay for a while? I hope so.
Who knows how long it’s going to be there? I’ll probably go again this winter when it snows to get a diffrent view/angle of the village. Also want to explore the 104 Village.
@@SeoulStroll I just cameback here to watch in full again :) Cats are adorable..I saw your reply comment that all people living here are senior or old? I am right? coz I got teary eyed, they dont have relatives to take care for them?
Everyone still living there are usually very old and without family ties. Their age prevents them from getting any meaningful job opportunities to make a living. (government pensions/aid are just barely enough to get by) The young have all left the place to start their own lives, and the parents who manage to get support from their children also leave the place. That's the reason you see so many abandoned homes.
I didn't even think about going to Guryong Village, but I send it like this. Usually, it is filmed mainly in the downtown area, which is amazing. I'll record it later. This place will be developed soon.
How can anyone say that this is a beautiful place. It sure doesn't look like that to me. All of you that are subscribed to this channel why not help, one way or another. I will not subscribe, because it is what I do not like. It looks more like a junk yard, instead of a community. So you people out there, do something about your beautiful community.
Most cleanest slum I have ever seen 😀😊

This is subject to REDEVELOPMENT.. and this piece of land cost a fortune to the dwellers there.. by how much? well by 1Million dollars per 150 sqm²
