    my family has a cabin in angel fire, so we primarily ski at the resort. although i've had many memories there, it has many flaws and countless things to improve upon. i definitely wouldn't ski there if it wasn't easily accessible. if you are thinking of skiing at angel fire, do what you want, but i'd reccomend better resorts such as taos or santa fe, which are relatively nearby.

    I just finished my trip at Angel fire today, and honestly it wasn’t bad at all. Definitely go during off peak days during January or February if possible, but Night skiing won’t be available in those days. And yes it is a very good beginner resort, as I learned to ski here about 8 years ago. Like mentioned in the video, nothing has changed. In my time at the resort the only route that was closed was Texas Flats which I had no interest in doing anyway. Interestingly Headin’ Home was not that crowded and mostly just some little kids, but Lower Domingo was more like I-95 traffic especially in the afternoon. Also I did Hully Gully a few times, and I think the ice spot you mentioned is gone now as I have not seen any accidents. Instead, the turn on Highway with the fence has a huge ice spot. I saw a few people run into the fence, and too many to count that fell because of it. Nothing has changed with the crap on the lift like you mentioned. Gloves, ski poles, chip bags, etc. My best advice for anyone going to Angel fire is get there as soon as the lifts open, and try to avoid usually crowded paths (Headin’ Home, Lower Domingo, Highway) if you can. All of the Black Diamond routes were completely empty like it was a private resort. Most of the Blues off of Highway were empty too. As a more advanced skier though I would recommend Taos, but overall not a bad resort. Thank you if you actually read all of this, you earned a new subscriber.

      The trends you're mentioning are not uncommon at resorts with a general beginner connotations-the so-called "choke points" at which all of the runs flow together or at which there is one inherent easiest way down. Angel Fire's not a bad resort in general, but just isn't what I'm used to. As a whole, it just had a very different feel, but I'm glad to hear that other people like it, and that conditions have shaped up since January. I appreciate the love!

    I've never skied AF but have gotten the mountain bike seasons pass there for years. Your video was great! For those that don't know why he refers to it as "Texass" it's because that's the license plate on most of the cars there. The only place I've seen more Texassans is at Ski Apache. Come back to AF during the summer time and it's ... well, still populated by Texassans, but these ones know how to downhill mountain bike.

    I check the web cams at various times for ski areas in CO, UT, NM. In the winter of 2023, the snowiest winter in about 20 years, Angel Fire closes before the end of March. It's like they wanted to ignore what was falling out of the sky and just went home until the mountain bikers arrived to reopen.

    • @SRGSkiing
      @SRGSkiing  10 месяцев назад

      Now, it is possible that that was a forest service regulation. Or, Sun Valley has to close at the end of March because all of their workers' (who are from Peru) visas expire, so AF could be seeing some type of situation like that.

      They offer jobs to people from Mexico and other places around the world and sometimes students who have to get back to school before winter break ends and the lifts close because the immigrants visas expire and they are understaffed

    Must never ski out east...you see people hurt on the bunny hills/greens all the time. They are usually the more dangerous spots because of too many inexperienced skiers overcrowding the area. Hell, I had a friend of mine who is a very experienced skier break his collar bone getting off the lift because a noobie rode to the top before they knew how to get off the lift and they fell into him/knocked him over getting off the lift. It's crazy out there, lol.

    Not saying Angel Fire doesn’t have some issues… but you’re non- review- review, is complete BS. You evaluate AF ski when it has no snow and extremely limited terrain, during the busy holidays and then a week later go to its nearest competition RedRiver after the snow hits and give RR a glowing review. I encourage you to go back to AF after it opens up a bit- like now that the snows hit. Once you get off the greens- you’re skiing your own private resort. Skiers that know the area- know this. You should be embarrassed…

    • @SRGSkiing
      @SRGSkiing  10 месяцев назад +2

      Be embarrassed for what? I made it very clear that it's not a review, and you even acknowledged that. It's a video just for entertainment, and isn't intended to show anything good. I don't need to know the area to make a semi-comedic entertainment video. If I were making an Insider's Guide, then yes, I would highlight all of the good, and showcase the resort in full. But it's not an Insider's Guide, it's a Hater's Guide, and there is a very distinct (and obvious) difference between those two types of videos.

    • @MikeBeerisfood-tr7et
      @MikeBeerisfood-tr7et 10 месяцев назад

      You should be embarrassed for giving Angel Fire an unfair and inaccurate review. From what I see the only difference between you’re Haters guide and Insiders guide is one is positive and one is negative- with a sardonic flavor. Again, not to say AF doesn’t have some issues, but any ski resort that is 90% closed would have similar problems. And you just posted a hatchet job to thousands of skiers painting an incredibly unfair depiction of the resort. And, the very next week, after snow give a glowing review of red river- which clearly would have very similar issues without snow. And, to be clear RR is an amazing ski town , worth visiting- but for skiers AF has far superior terrain. 1. Taos experts. 2. Angel Fire- great for beginners, amazing for intermediate, and has very good advanced runs. 3 RR great, lively “ski town” for entertainment and smaller ski hill. All have strengths and weaknesses. I take offense to the fact that perhaps hundreds of skiers will give an off beaten path , non mainstream ski hill a miss because of inaccurate nonsense. That’s why you should be embarrassed.

    • @SRGSkiing
      @SRGSkiing  10 месяцев назад +2

      Hey man, if you would like to give Angel Fire a true review, whatever that is to you, please be my guest. I would be more than happy to host a guest-written Insider's Guide on my channel. Otherwise, please just relax a little bit. I understand you don't like the video. Hit the dislike button and move on. I'm done trying to explain this video to you. In the grand scheme of things, I am a very small RUclipsr that first of all, you really shouldn't be spending all of this effort dwelling on, and second of all, really doesn't have all that large of an influence on peoples' decisions.

    Made two posts criticizing your piece. You removed them both. Pretty thin skinned for a guy who is willing to produce a non-review- review of a ski resort during a busy time prior to it even being a 1/4 open because of lack of snow. Ski it while it’s fully open. Jeez ski it today. Once you’re off the greens- it’s like you’re skiing in your own private resort.
