This is actually beautiful. Sounds like someone much older having a nostalgic look back on their excited young self, nearly 18, ready to take on life. It’s somewhat somber but also just really nice, I’m imagining them shedding a few tears while smiling at the memories. Really wish Neil did a full version!

1.25x makes the vocals sound pretty close to the original, and it all actually works very well.
