pickle brines like those are usually just added on. take old vegetables out, replace with new, add sugar, vodka and peppercorns. my family used to have one that goes back at least a generation, but it went bad
@@purpleblackberries6850No, that’s not how it works. You never take the pickle brine out and wash the jar. The bad bacteria is killed by the acidic conditions and garlic and whatnot. If your pickle brine’s seal goes dry it will go bad. It could probably also go bad from neglect (not adding ingredients)

How do you keep the bottom so clean of sediment? The bacteria that eventually die off settle and I always end up restarting my ferments?
