Kabru has a perfect social mask and won't show displeasure no matter what. Combine with Laios being dumb as a brick and you'll have a guy happy to feed you monster and the other too polite to refuse. Also, his giddy reaction to black magic is probably an overcompensation since he was that shocked.

BUT, somehow, the Dub and CC sub for it alternated that sentence into making fun of Rin?
Note the eastern islands (their world version of Japan) doesn’t have much contact with other regions. Only dominant races there are humans/tall folk and onis. So it’s rare for them to meet halffoots, dwarves and such besides elves if they visit often.

(laios when talking to kabru about marcille) and "he's a terrible liar and equally terrible at hiding things" (kabru right after that)

Kabru is definitely one of the best characters in this show. The contrast between Kabru and Laios' personalities is very interesting. They are both smart but Kabru is very good at reading people. Just take one look at Lios and see immediately he is not guilty. While Lios doesn’t even notice how exhausted Shuro is🤣🤣🤣
