    got to sit and see the new mazda at the International autoshow in detroit. I instantly loved it, this is the first new car I have ever wanted.

    As John Davis said, please don't upgrade to the automatic. And he's right this car SHOULD ONLY be driven in a manual transmission, as a TRUE sports roadster should be.

    wow 5.9 seconds to 60 mph ?
    not bad for 155hp

    • @sdlausen1
      @sdlausen1 8 лет назад +2

      +Cetifiably Snuggly It's mostly the gearing Mazda set up for it. P/W does help though.

    • @youcanrunnaked
      @youcanrunnaked 8 лет назад +9

      +GOBbluthagain It also helps that Mazda is being very conservative with their hp rating. On the dyno the cars are pushing 145 -148 whp, which converts to nearly 170 hp (crank). It's a legit 6-second car. You need to drive it to appreciate how quick it really is.

    • @youcanrunnaked

      +Ticky Tocky
      C&D: 5.8; MT: 5.8; R&T 5.9; Edmunds: 6.3. Under 6 is because the testers are using a 1-second roll-out to factor out launch variations; over 6 are not; over 7 -- ?? Maybe poor driving technique? Kind of missing the point of the car if the range of 0-60 times is the thing you are fixated on. It looks like a few cars slipped through with improperly hardened gears, but waiting to hear from Mazda what the story is.

    I disagree with the stock seats being supportive at the track, as I had to reposition myself coming out almost every corner @ Lime Rock...... They are very comfortable for street use tho. :)

    Timeless design. At first it seemed edgy, but it has aged very well and still looks brand new.

    • @lemonstrangler

      how is it edgy, it doesnt have too many lines and edges like some other modern cars . this is modern design done right

    i swear the new mx5 and the gt86 are the only new cars i see myself saving up for one day. im tired of every car nowadays needing 300+ hp to remedy their crappy gearing and overweight chassi. give me a light weight car with a decent twin cam 4 cylinder and you have me sold. i would love to see a mazdaspeed version of the new mx5

    I wouldn't call a 2.0L 4 banger "tiny" when the largest 4 is only .5 litres larger. This is coming from someone with an actual "tiny" 4 banger, 2013 Fiat 500 Abarth.

      +Dan McCarthy Good point Dan, didn't realize that but nowadays it's pretty much in the middle, not small by any accounts. Mitsubishi had a 2.7L 4 banger in the Conquest IIRC.

    I want one but not for above $30k. This should be $20k and everyone would rush out to buy one and it would lose its gender bender image.

      I'm starting to see used 2016's out my way for reasonable money. I'd say by fall 2018 they'll be pretty close to the $20k mark. Depending on trim of course.

    This guy proves more and more he just does not get it. The Miata is not, has not been, and will not be a track car. Yes - one can do mods and drive it on a track for fun. And yes - people do do this. But it is designed almost entirely for the fun and thrill of thrashing it through the corners and around the block without risk (mostly) of killing yourself and others. That - along with incredible reliability and affordability in one package. Why else has this car remained THE most popular and best-selling sports car of all time when Saturn, Toyota, Honda, and others have put out competition that has just faded away? Hmmm??

    • @bobreno4042
      @bobreno4042 2 года назад

      Interesting as the Miata is one of the most tracked cars, in fact, it has its own Cup series, check it out

    • @nfexec1312
      @nfexec1312 2 года назад

      @@bobreno4042 Having owned 9 of them, and being very familiar with the breed, I do know this. But that's not the main purpose and use of this car. The youtube tracking clip is fine, but a bit misleading as to the vast majority of its attraction to buyers along with how the car is used. ;-)

      I owned an NC so I get the Miata thing, This ND was disappointing. I wanted it to good. I drove the Sport. Power is still lacking. Your knee will rest against the trans hump. The seating position is too low (you'll feel like a pimp). Cannot get leather in the Sport??? The gearbox is excellent however. I bough a TT roadster and love the performance and the tech. The NC is a mishmash of analog and digital and low res Nav, which look ugly on the dash,.

    • @diegovillicana1514
      @diegovillicana1514 8 лет назад

      But the Club version is the one you should've thought about... Great gear change, it is one of the greatest cars I've drive in a long time, still TT is a great choice, but l am staying with the miata.

    • @Lee-70ish
      @Lee-70ish 8 лет назад

      Diego Villicaña in europe the TT has taken over from the MX5 and is now classed as the girly car.
      I have this model MX5 so has leather seats etc
      www.mazda.co.uk/cars/mazda-mx-5-icon/
      I'm 6,1 and my knees don't hit anything so Im not sure how you sit to drive.
      The lower the centre of gravity the better as far as I'm concerned when it comes to handling and the designed in roll limit is a brilliant concept for dishing out the fun factor.
      As for power the MX5 has never been about power its about fun and poise at any speed its got enough power to make it fun.
      The big trouble with too many higher performing cars
      Lambos, , Ferrari,s,Mclarens etc they are great once they are wound up. but that can only be done legally on a track.
      For normal highways they are totally hideous to drive as they just constantly want to be driven full tilt so its just bloody hard work . Track days (which I have done several times) and the exotics are brilliant fun where you can let them loose.
      I agree the slab sat nav on the dash is ugly but not many people want cars these days without some bells and whistles.
      The ND is selling really well in Europe with 10,000 cars sold in the first 7 months of this year which is higher than any model MX5 for the same period
      so i think they must have got something right
