Hey, I’m Sonny! I’m from the US but I’ve been living in Asia for 10 years and started making food and travel videos to document my experiences. I travel to different parts of the world, hunting down and documenting the most unique food each country has to offer.
If you see any factual food errors in my videos, please feel free to politely let me know in the comments. I'm a huge fan of trying different, interesting foods in each country. My show is from a Western point of view, but more importantly, MY point of view. It is not meant to offend any person or culture.

Hey Dad

am from Negros oriental philippines.
Wow. My province. Hi from CA. You are always amazing Sonny!!!💖💖💖

We got to give credit to the co-host! She’s very enthusiastic and fun to watch! Her punchlines were not bad at all! Kudos!
he did. lol
she's also pretty
I agree 💯
She’s so cute.
Right
When eating in the Philippines, I suggest you partner them with rice as the food here is basically intentded to have along with rice. If you eat it plainly, it may be too salty or too sweet. You'll really appreciate the flavors once rice balances it all out.
I think they try to eat it without the rice so that they can focus on the main flavor of the dish and also to not get it all filled up when visiting other restaurants.
Rice is our life 🤭🤭🤭🤭
Nakaka busog kasi agad pag may rice haha
Nope , Kapampangan foods are never too salty every dishes are well balanced and kapampangan foods are most likely flavorful and savory trust me, I live my whole life there. ^^
@@arjay3803 Put it this way, when you eat a chocolate, the first bite is most heavenly, usually you even haven't taken a bite yet but your mouth is already salivating. The next bites are still good but they are not as spectacular as the first bite because your palate is already used to the taste.
The purpose of the rice, after your first mouthful of the dish which is to die for, is you would want to wash your palate with rice off the residual taste so you can experience again almost the same effect as your first mouthful. Filipinos just eat this way but non ever tried to verbalize why rice is very important to them.
I like her as a co host. Please have Aling on more episodes because I enjoy her self confidence and she's up to trying the questionable gleck you sometimes eat without too many qualms about it.
same thoughts, she brings such good vibes to the whole video.

This is so awesome, in Puerto rico we call a pig roast over a fire lechon, the legs of animals Pata and fried skins chicharon too. 😍 I've gotta visit the Philippines at least ones I'd feel right at home.
The Philippines was colonized by Spain for 300 years just as your country was colonized i believe for 400 years? Please come and visit, I would love to visit Puerto Rico too!
not only food they influence us😅😅 even our language etc.. imagine its like broken spanish mix with tagalog
Yes puerto rico was colonized by Spain as well. I would love to visit the Philippines ,but right now with tensions so high with so many countries, I don't know that I'll be able too. Hopefully I live long enough and these politicians get their heads right and I'll take a trip to the Philippines sometime.
both colonized by usa also
I live here now but I miss living in the carribean and the food that surrounds it; I ended up opening a small Cuban restaurant. I hope to go to Puerto Rico soon, I have many mainlander friends moving there.
Philipino cuisine is criminally under-rated! I’m Mexican American from So. California and believe it or not, I went my first 23 years of my life never having had the pleasure of trying it outside of a few random delicious desserts from my aunt’s filipina coworkers. Wasn’t until I started dating a half Filipina half white girl I first got to try it at a legit restaurant. I absolutely loved EVERYTHING! My family would always tease me for putting vinegar and salt on pretty much anything and when I realized spicy vinegar was a normal everyday table condiment I felt like I found my long lost relatives haha! That alone would have been enough for me but then dessert absolutely sealed the deal… HALO-HALO!… Are you kidding me filipinos!? That is crack cocaine in dessert form! And everything else! All of the sweet sticky rice flour balls filled with coconut and ube purple sweet yam and taro!
I love my Mexican food and while I wouldn’t ever trade it for anything, filipino food seriously gives it a run for its money in my opinion.
and we are called the Mexicans of Asia. Glad you liked our food my brotherman. Likewise, we are obsessed with Mexican food!
Loved reading this comment 😂🥺 happy you love Filipino food that much!

Most Filipinos can relate to your co-host, Patricia. I'm a 21-year old Filipino yet I haven't eaten most of the foods you featured in this episode. Heck, even my parents said they haven't eaten some of them yet. So this is a nice episode filled with enlightenment and can also help us learn more about our country's dishes.
True, I believe that is because most regions and/or provinces in the Philippines have their own unique dishes.
Oh please! Chicken butt? Really? Patricia is trying too hard for reasons that I do not know. She does not represent ‘most’ of you young Filipinos. It’s a shame to have her represent this part of the Philippines when even a damn chicken butt she hasn’t seen or tasted. Wth!
It's like that for every culture, there are always gonna be the non mainstream meals that only few enjoy or have even had to chance to experience

The amount of times she says she'll eat this with rice is starting to make me think I'm Filipino 😂
or Hawaiian lol, same!
Being Hawaiian I looked for rice the second bite on all these dishes. One thing the Philippines and Hawaii have in common is an appreciation for medium grain or 'sticky' rice with our food....if not taro.
