This video is so much better than the official Slime instruction video.
It really works! .. I got home today and was looking at my tires and I found a 'Goat's Head' thorn sticking in my front bicycle tire. I pulled it out and of course it started leaking air! So I quickly flipped my bike upside down and started spinning the tire to hopefully get the slime to seal the leak.. and it did! About 30 seconds later the leak had stopped and I ended up losing only about 30 PSI of my tires pressure. Filled it back up with my pump and it is holding steady with no more leaking.
Nice! Yeah I got three punctures with slime before the tube finally failed. Just make sure you keep a close eye on the pressure sometimes it would just randomly drop on me. I also recently upgraded the rear tire to a Schwalbe marathon plus tour and haven't gotten a puncture since... excellent peace of mind.
Update?
How long does it continue to work? Do you need to re apply?
Yes please update us after 3 years
I use it as a preventative its not as good as the one used on tubeless, but that is because to seal, it needs quick contact with air, and you really don't get that when a tube is in a tire, so it just does not work as effectively.
I generally just bring a spare tube, and when I get home, just repair the broken tube just like carrying a spare tire. So people just take a spare tube. I generally have a Kenda thornproof on my MTB (it's a really old MTB that does not have tubeless rims) and a similar one on my Touring bike.
Also, if you are doing long trips with tubeless carry a spare tube, you may be stuck in the middle of nowhere with a big blowout and no way to fix your tire.
I had 3 punctures in a week on my ebike, so l tried Slime and have had none in nearly a year. I did try marathon plus tyres before trying the slime but still had a couple of punctures on them. So far Slime has been the best solution. When periodically putting more air in the tyres the slime can start to clog the valve as you’re attaching the pump line but the force of a good pump (l use a car foot pump) counteracts that easily.
dang, yeah same here. I now use puncture resistant tires and slime filled tubes. My biggest problem now is that I won't be prepared in the rare case that I do get a flat, heh.
Hey I have a front hub ebike kit on my 700x38c single speed bicycle. I got a huge nail in my tire today. Had that long walk home. I was able to patch it but it just wouldn't hold the air with two punctures on both sides of the tube as it went right through it
So do you think slime would be good for a bicycle set up like mine sir?
@@ralphieandthemamacat8383 slime will not stop up a hole made by a large nail. It’s for more ‘regular’ punctures eg thorns etc I’ve used it with a few bikes now and with mixed results. Some tires have been fine where others have gone down with tiny punctures. I wonder if the quality of the slime is different in different bottles/batches…
Slime works great with new tubes as a preventative as it has more time to seal before air the tire goes flat. Going tubeless is by far the best, Maxima brand or Slime brand tubeless sealer works great, I only get a flat if I explode my tire from a 12 ft drops to concrete other than that it seals up pretty much anything.
Thank you for the helpful video. I find it helpful to screw the clear plastic tube onto the valve stem rather than pushing it on. That eliminates pushing the valve stem towards the rim.
Just tried this on my channel. So far so good
Nice. I've actually been running Schwalbe marathon tires the last couple years and haven't gotten a puncture since, so thankfully I can't even share any updates on the slime lol.
Yes putting the green slime is very good but it takes a while for it to work. It was frustrating at first it took awhile for the green slime to work.. I wonder if it work with a tube that's been sunbaked.
Thanks for the vid. Followed instructions and worked like a charm.
I had a puncture in my slime inner tubes but I pumped it back up and it sealed the hole. How likely is it that it will puncture again
Quick and important question can i put a 26 x 2.25 as a sub for a 26 x 2.30 or will that cause problems
Man, Save my day!
Thank you!
Hi! Will be so appreciate for help> Could you still recommend this product for inner tubes? especially for gravel. Just
bought merida silex and understood that tubeless was realy needed
I recently realised why roads & pavements in Glasgow are "sparkling" with widespread shattered glass inc thousands of tyre-puncturing shards that'd go straight through a toddler's soft shoes if stepped on. I believe what explains why there's glass & random steel screws everywhere is this; The Roads Dept apparently used *Recycled Glass Sand* instead of quarry / beach sand as "road grit". The Recycled Glass wasnt filtered so it's not just full of tyre+shoe puncturing shards of sharp glass it's also left behind 1,000's of car/bike tyre damaging steel screws everywhere. Since the ice melted we're left with glass everywhere; Cyclists can't use roads, pavements OR cycle lanes without daily risk of repeat punctures. £millions were invested developing cycle paths in Glasgow; Was that not moronic stupidity (Fraud?) to "grit" our roads using ground-up bottles!? I think we're all going to be watching videos like this.. and buying bike tyre slime.
dang, that sounds terrible sorry to hear it! Maybe someone can design a bike trailer street cleaner / sweeper?
@@eBikeaholic They'll never get this crap off the roads & pavements for years. Little toddlers and going to be falling over, getting up using their hands which will pick up loads of ground glass dust and particles then they'll be crying and rub their eyes. The Head of Roads Managements should be put up against a wall and SHOT for this.
Even on the sidewalks?
Very good video, thanks.
You don't need to wait until you have a flat to use Slime. I had that stuff in a MTB tires when I changed the rear tire I had a hard time to pull the tube out of the tire because it was glued in from the slime that sealed must been 50-75 punctures. Works a lot better when its already in tire. Don't carry it out it in the tire you won't even know you had a flat.
Say again?
how much did you use and long did the sealant last thanks
@@andy-the-gardener it will last the life of the tire or tube. Only goes in tires that have a shrader valve. It won't work if the hole is too big. Doesn't work well on higher pressure small tires of a road bike. The packaging will tell you how much. Prevents pinch flats and nail flats very well.
I purchased a new jetson bolt pro with 14 inch tire, tube. Before I took it out I pulled the valve stem and put in 4 to 6 oz. In tube then inflated. After all I heard about slime I felt protected enough to go on at least to go on the bike paths in my neighborhood we two days ago I experienced a rear tire flat because of a little tiny sticker which I thought I was protected from. Reinflated the tire and it held air overnight but once I was on the road for about a mile it went flat again what did I or slime do wrong cuz I thought I was doing serious preventive maintenance. Not to be undone by you regular sticker, 1/8 "
The best thing to do is add green slime tube sealant is before anything happens. I have confidence that the green slime tube sealant prevents costly tube repairs. I might later on add slime tire sealant to my bike tire,in my area we have plenty of bullheads which can damage a brand new tube.
Same my area they have them everywhere always going through tubes I just got some new ones and put slime in it before I even rode it because I know what’ll happen
Have you tried puncture resistant tires? I don't ride off-road too often, but I don't think Schwalbe marathon's would have any problem with bullhorns. Now I only run puncture resistant tires with slime filled tubes (as backup) for my daily commuter bikes... I think the flat from this video a few years ago might be the last one I've had.
@@eBikeaholicI haven't try it yet
for me, if i know where the puncture is, i will put it 180 degrees down after i spin the wheel, so the sealant can do its job sealing.
So you work on it top side and let it fall and settle out. Do you pressurize it with an air pump at the same time to help pressurize the seal?
@@brokentombot if i know where the puncture is, i will put the sealant and pump it. Then rotate a few times and put the puncture area at below part to let the sealant seal the puncture.
Incredibly helpful! Thank you
Thanks for the video.
in my experience it work very good. i have a very bad opinion about Continental sealant, at least for me it didnt worked at all. both cases tube and anvelope from Continental.
for my new bicycle i just ordered a 237ml recipient, just enough for both wheels. ill use a weight scale to know when to stop at 1st tube.
I was given slime as a gift, had my doubts whether it would work on Presta. Bad day: A five bloody punctures on same tube, fixed three then found two more - straight in bin. Took off good wheel, along with other trim & tyre to cycle shop, like yourself he informed me slime wouldn't work on these particular Presta valves. Found it odd you slimed with a number of punctures, marking outside of tyre. Best to start with good tubes & fill with slime. I see you have a belt & not a chain.
dang, sorry to hear that. Have you tried puncture resistant tyres?
I have always found that slime makes my tire expload on warm day in the middle of a ride making a unfixable flat and then I need a new tire , I recommend runny super glue for flats.
well, that's not good... it does get a little messy when the tube finally fails. It's probably best to just use this stuff for a temporary fix until you can get a new tube in there.
You over-filled the tires. That's your fault.
New to this is one of the slime bottles enough for both tires cus both of my tires are punctured and don't know why the one in back did it was fine an hour ago
What those are. Is the small metal fragments from steel-belted radial tires from cars. I got dozens of them over the years and they produce very small leaks. They have been a pain in my ass for years!
If slime fails to seal even after a generous application do I add more? When I let air out will I have a mess?
Did u try the tube protective liners?
Thanks 🙏 for this video
What is that “Tool” supposed 2do exactly?.. Also, I tried using the Slime last night and it’s like it won’t Smoothly come out the bottle and or go into the valve… All the slime kept falling on the floor..?🤦🏼♀️ #pleasehelp
I've watched a few videos that's ended like that. the slime wasn't green though.
hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
in order for the hole to close, must you have removed the (thorn, glass ...) or do you leave it in the tires without removing it?
Yeah you should definitely remove whatever might be stuck in the tire / tube or it'll just create another puncture.
@@eBikeaholic ok thanks!!
You know the few refills made sense plus letting the tire hold the air a bit longer to see if it'll last made sense also
I poured excessive liquid, now air leaks from valve. I replaced valve but no luck . Do you have any solution? @ebikeaholic
Hmm not sure. Try putting a little grease on the valve and play around with how tight it is. Otherwise you might need to replace the tube. Also try putting the inflated tube under water to see where it's leaking... maybe it's coming from the rubber surrounding the outer valve shell?
What’s the fancy valve cap?
Walmart has tubes with slime already I them. They work great seal right away.
Yup I use those now, much easier. Paired with puncture resistant tires I haven't had to touch the tubes in a few years.
If I apply that liquid in my tube would I have to apply it every single time when there is another puncture or what??
How much do I use for.small tires.
CAN YOU USE THIS EVEN IF NOT FLAT BUT TO STOP FROM GETTING THIS PUNCTURE
It fixed very slow air leak on my e-scooter most probably thru the rim. I had usually flat tyre after 2 weeks. Now it is 2 months and my pressure is still the same and nothing escaping.
So the slime works on small punctures on the inside of the inner tube? I'm having the same problem with my ebike
@@daveassanowicz186 yes
So nice
what size tires does 4 oz. seal?
I would have bought a new tube at walmart first. Or just fixed the holes. Then you could put in the slime to prevent that in the future. Although I guess it doesn't prevent ALL punctures.
How many ounces do i need for a 16x1.95 inber tube
Probably only a few ounces.
Does it work on any tubes?
Not sure, but I'd imagine it should so long as it's a rubber inner tube.
the slime tool broke in the valve so now i have some useless slime laying around.
What am I doing wrong? I've followed the instructions but I can't seem to physically squeeze it into the tube. Tyre is deflated and the inner part of the valve is removed but the stuff just won't go in
hmm, have you checked the bottle, hose, and tube valve to make sure they're not clogged? The slime bottle should feel squishy.
Remove the cover lid is under the cap
@@geramx0 lol i was stuck until i removed the lid and saw that cover that prevented it from releasing

Hello, i was wondering if i can use Slime Prevent & Repair Flat Sealant tube for my new bike, the tyre are new and no puncture hole damage, can i still install the slime tube sealant on my new tyre now or should i use it later after my tyre are damaged with puncture holes? Please replay back soon as possible.
Ryan Matt Hi. Put it in now to reduce the chance of a puncture. If anything pierced the inner tube it should get sealed by the slime as you are riding. Works for me.
Agree. At the very least having it in there before a puncture might help you get to your destination or a local transit stop. Always carry a small pump.
I have used Slime and Flat Attack on bicycles. Flat Attack is a more reliable product to fix flats on bikes. If you make the wrong choice, you might have a long time to think about it when you walk your bike home. Another product you might add to the mix is a Tannis Armour tire insert with a Flat Attack filled support tube. This combination will give you a very flat resistant tire.
Never heard of flat attack but I'll have to check that out, thanks for the tip. What's the major difference that makes it more reliable than slime?
@@eBikeaholic it is much more reliable to plug holes. The Giant bike shop here turned me onto it. I have had flats with both. Slime will work on really small holes (stickers)but Flat Attack will plug larger holes. Flat Attack is a better product. I live in Texas and we have lots of mesquite trees. I ran over a mesquite thorn twig pulled it out and the Flat Attack bubbled out. I aired my tire back up and it held pressure on my way home. It also continued to hold pressure after, made quite an impression on me. It would have been a long bike walk home. Did not have anybody I could call to come and pick me up.
@@vonwane nice, good to know I'll give it a try if my Schwalbe's ever fail me.
Hey is that flat attack your talking about. Is that a company name.
Oh I just saw freedom tubes is that right
Hello, I hope anyone can help me. My inner tube has punctured tyre. I used that before, I can use again in that inner tube.
How many times I can use that liquid in the same inner tube? Thanks for your help.
Check the instructions on the bottle. Personally I would only do that for temporary use until a new tube arrives.
I’m pretty sure you’re supposed to take the tube out when u put the slime in and check the inner tire for anything sharp if I’m not mistaken!
Can you use it in tubular tires?
You can use it but it’s way better to plug a tubeless tire
Thanks I’m using it on my e scooter
I have a super73 s2, i got a puncture in my tire that made my tire lose air (obviously) and have been looking for solutions that didnt involve getting a new inner-tube, I just want to make sure that this solution allows me to use my punctured inner tube and just put sealant in and it will fix it, please let me know it would be much appreciated!
It depends on how large the puncture is. According to Slime, it should work for tube punctures up to 1/8" (3mm).
@@eBikeaholic okay thank you
@@eBikeaholic if it doesnt fill the hole I can always just get a new tube and use that, just wanted to find and easier solution
does this work with presta too ?
Definitely. Here’s a how to guide.
www.instructables.com/Slime-Your-Presta-Valve-Bicycle-Tubes/
The back place that's suppose to screw of the needle on the tore does not work
Do I need to patch the tire before using sealant or can I just use the sealant?
So long as the hole is smaller than 1/8" (3mm) you shouldn't need to patch it.
It didn’t work. I put 4 oz with slime and then 10 hours later, kaboom. I got slime over me. I have a road bike. Do you think that I put too much air or too much slime on there? I realize that I can just put 3 oz but I’m not sure
Sounds like a pinched tube or low pressure with high speed.
DarkLinkAD too much air
@@justinrnayy Ive only had failures due to the mentioned above.Low pressure on a downhill, sounded like a shotgun. A slime mess inside the rim.
And in my younger days, airing up a new tire without tucking it properly.
The faster you spin the tire the longer it will take. Spin fast does not allow the flow of slime to spread.. Spin slow to allow the slime to spread.
good to know thanks for sharing
Yep. I learned this through a physics simulation. Akin to centrifuges, it has something to do with gravity that just makes the object within the contained space smush into the surface it is within rather than freely moving about. Sorry if I sound like a smartass I just find this interesting
Don't they have the directions on the bottle?🤔
@@trini_boi2414 probably is but I always need a magnifying glass to be able to read what's on it and i have 20/20 vision.
I wouldn't use slim, it's just so messy, I use an ultra light tire liner, I check my tire once a week for embedded nails and glass.
I'm beginning to agree with you. I recently (about 150 miles ago ) upgraded the rear tire to a Schwalbe marathon plus tour and haven't gotten a flat since! I hesitated for years because it seemed like a lot of hype for a $50 tire but couldn't be happier with it. The peace of mind alone is well worth it... still waiting to get a flat so I can make a video review. I also want to try Tannus airless tires (mostly for not having to inflate them) but they're $80 each and mostly get questionable reviews. The current models seem like they'd be terrible on a hub motor and probably dangerous on gravel but I love the concept and hope they keep at it.
Living in the desert, everything has thorns so they are everywhere. I have tire liners in one of my bikes that I mainly ride on the street, but it also sees its share of trail-riding. My other bike, which is mainly my trail bike, has slime. I have yet to catch a flat on either bike. I don't know which one functions better, but they both seem to do the trick. However, I do know that without any protection, my ex-girlfriend would get a flat approximately once every two weeks, and that was from riding only on the road . . . I could only imagine the frequency of a flat tire on the trail without protection. She eventually used protection, I can't recall which, but flats were no longer an issue for her.
Tire liners are heavy and you have to balance the tire if you don't you're just asking for wear and tear on other parts. Slime works just fine when using a new tube as a preventative, best options is going tubeless, I have and never looked back, the only time I get a flat is when I street freestyle and explode the tire on a 10 ft drop to concrete other than that thorns just pop out or bounce off and it seals. I use Maxima Tubeless sealer or Slime Tubeless sealer, both work the same and you save so much weight. I'll never use liners ever again.
@@FarmerFpv U right but I am rather using Tannus so no need to change the liquid in the tube.
Tire liners are great but you have to change them every two years because they end up getting hard and brittle which punctured my tubes and luckily I also had slime in my tubes so I got home without walking.
Late to the party I know but I think, when I get my new bike, I will be using this as prevention rather than cure. Wonder how long I could go, from new, before I finally got a puncture..
good idea, but I would definitely also consider puncture resistant tires. I replaced the ones from this video with Schwalbe marathon tour plus tires and still use slime in the tubes as backup but can't remember the last time I had a flat.
Yep, didn’t take for a good while, nearly 45 mins with three pump ups. Thanks for your video. Otherwise I would of given up...
sweet, glad it worked out for ya. Patience is virtue!
Cool
The plastic valve always breaks
Andrew Nava happened to me rn
My bike has a tube selent and Thorn protector. So it's probably gonna be hard to get new tires on and off😂
Better that than having to constantly replace tubes!
Yes so true👍😆
yes a small pump will take forever but it will still get the job done mate
I can’t remove the valve from the tube. I even broke the cap that removes the valve. I’m stuck.
yeah sometimes the valves seize up, probably time for a new tube.
You need to have the valve at the top position so it flow down inside the tire.
Yup, then give it a few spins and rotate it so the slime distributes.
After fill in the slime.how long it can lasted?
Good question, I'd imagine you'd get enough punctures and want to replace the tube before the slime would stop working but this question is probably best directed to the manufacturer.
Slime say it works up to 2 years
natalie19831000 it does more than that
Already have a slow puncture ?
Take your valve out and syringe in 50ml of milk.
I've even done it on cars.
Grandad taught me that in the early 80'S
Interesting... wonder what that must smell like after the tube fully blows out a few months later ;)
Hey, Bob. Can you please explain how that works and why you'd use that over synthetic solutions? I'm super intrigued. Thanks!
A spray bottle with soapy water is the best way to find leaks cause some leaks are so small that you can't see it
Tip: put the bottle of slime in a bowl of hot water or hold it under the hot water tap for a couple of minutes - that should improve viscosity when filling the tire…
The inner valve will not come completely out. What do I do?
I tried using this on my stroller it didn't work so I threw the stroller outside (not with the child in it unfortunately)
That's why I like knobby's but I'm still going to get it your tire is bald no wonder you got so many holes LOL thanks for the vid
Used same slime sealed instantly :p
Austin Martín Hernández nobody asked
You're not supposed to use the whole bottle. Sometimes you need to refill the tube with air a few times and spin it around. If it doesn't stick after that the puncture hole is probably too large or there may be multiple holes. Did you inspect the tube afterwards?
Why did you leave the bit in where it falls off ?it put me right off
this stuff is pre thick you need to give it time to slide around you were just spinning the tyre straight away and the centrifical force was holding it in place
centrifugal
Find the puncture by putting it in a bowl of water.
yup that's a good tip. I didn't even remove the tube or tire when I made this vid... but it's always a good idea to pull it out and check for debris.
Just pull out the tube and squeeze it and find the whole
Yup, if it's a tiny hole you can also put it in soapy water and find the bubbles.
U can hear it
I couldn't focus on the video. I was too distracted by the beautiful bike :)

What is that peace called I need to buy a better one..
Flat Attack blows this carp away. Check it out
Haven't heard of that yet, will look it up. I now use the tubes that come pre-filled. Paired with puncture resistant tires I haven't had to touch em in a few years.
You should remove the metal object first!!???
Thak god dam shit also blocks the valves. And after destroying the valves had to go by another set of tubes. SLIME DOESN'T KNOW A NAIL HOLE FROM THE VALVE PASSAGE.
yeah after a while it can seep into the valves. I top off the air pressure often enough that it won't seal, how long did you leave them sitting? ... maybe try adding a little air more often. Otherwise, most tubes have removable valves, you can just replace those next time.
@@eBikeaholic
Good advice. I've thought of those solutions. First time the valve got plugged i didn't know it. So i screwed valve filler on and turned on the pump from my battery jumper and the pressure immediately went to a couple of hundred pounds of pressure and blew out my pump. One thing I don't understand is the values on my car never plug. My bike is stored in my house. At least this time i made sure to check before I blew out another pump. Thanks for your response. I will probably just remove the valves if i store the bike for winter.
Oh by the way i did not use slime the second time somehow the valves just corroded.
The valve removal tool broke inside the tire making both essentially useless. I got another tire and tube of slime and even when it worked the second time, it did not stop punctures. It is utterly useless and the worst product I have ever purchased.
Dang, sorry to hear that. Maybe it was a large puncture, I'd give it another try. I use puncture resistant tires now with the prefilled slime tubes and haven't had a puncture since publishing this video 3 years ago.
Also, how did you manage to break the tool inside the tire? Also how did that make the tire useless?
Same. Used it on a rear inner tube for Xiaomi m365 PRO electric scooter. It did nothing. 😒
It's sucks when tire flat u can't patch it good you have to remove it everytime because of the slime terrible purchase just put a patch and keep going. No need for the slime
How much did they pay you to advertise this total RIP OFF?
Haha works on what it’s never ever sealed even a small thorn for me I’ll stick to my stans fluid that actually seals flats this slime is a marketing scam been around for years
I actually haven't tried Stan's yet but heard good things, will try that next. The best real prevention though is a solid set of puncture resistant tires.
You skipped the hardest part using the tool
It's not worked in 6yrs on 5 bikes😱
You can't plug a tube as it's expandable 🙄
Creamped
Nope! Can't even get past the 1st step! That nozzle cap is useless
Does it stay a liquid or not !!? What is wrong with you people !!? Nobody could give me a simple answer !! Does it harden under 2 years or stays a liquid after you put it in !!!????
Extreme hot or cold will break it down. In hot climates, the sealant lasts up to three years. Cold climates, not sure the life span. Okay, where's my fye dolla?! 💯💯💯💲💵
if you look at the side of the bottle 4:13, you can see a black mark on the bottle that indicates the 4 oz mark. you are not good at this!
Everything that slime makes is complete garbage especially their tubes. I was stupid enough to buy four of their tubes. The two that I bought for my 26er, the valves were so clogged couldn't put air in them. The other two were for my 29er I got one quick ride out of each one of them. Within an hour or two after finishing my ride they were both finished. There mini air compressors are okay but that's about it, don't waste your money on that garbage learn from my mistakes.
This product is crap , doesn't work.
Got a puncture on bike by a thorn which was removed , green slime just continues to ooze out and didn't solidify to stop the leak - utterly useless and makes patching the tube more difficult.
This video is rambling and worthless. I did not learn how to remove the valve body using the black cap on the slime body but a lot of worthless exposition was included.
If you're tire is in that condition.., just buy a new one!!
Yeah I mostly try to reduce waste by patching small holes but sometimes its worth the peace of mind to just replace the tube. Now I only use puncture resistant tires like Schwalbe marathon's and almost never get punctures.
Yeah that's one option. Wouldn't make much of a video though. This guy is showing us the other option. The cheap option that people actually want to see.
