If we have learned anything from the super crush video and this, it's that Lee is not a fan of the fuzzy Orange drive goodness. I mean, fair enough, but I love it:)
There’s so many videos on RUclips of this just using the DI out with the horrible cab sim that is on it or going straight into the front of an amp. I’m glad I can finally hear what it sounds like going into an fx loop as it should - prefer other Orange sounds but at least it sounds like how a preamp pedal should be used
The Tele didin't sound thin by any means when you handed Pete the Les Paul to fatten it up. So I think you answered your question in terms of monitors when dealing with units like this because on the youtube end it sounded pretty awesome.
The advantages with this is many orange amps don't have a full eq or 2 channels. Also many preamp pedals emulate a gain channel but don't have a clean channel to go to and this one sounds nice. Also the effects loop and ground loop are really useful. Shame its not closer to £200 I reckon they would sell loads at that price. The stamp still seems better value
You probably can use it as pre-preamp before the regular guitar input on your amp as a tone-shaper/boost/overdrive and I'm sure it will be just fine or maybe even better than in the effects return, though your results will vary from amp to amp. Thanks for the demo!
It does sound really tasty, but I've got a little Orange Micro Dark hooked up to do just this job for recording with a real valve sound (obviously, not as neatly, but it works and sounds great for clean and edge of break-up tones - and it takes pedals beautifully). As a digital alternative, my Neunaber Neuron gives incredible flexibility for recording. I use it as my "always on" pedal and just dial-in the sounds I need - it's so much quicker and easier than messing about with plug-ins. Saying all that, I'm definitely tempted by the Victory V4 series as a way to get some real valves in a small package. In fact, I was all set to buy one from Andertons until they showcased the new Yamaha Revstars! Hmmm - the classic dilemma... a new amp or a new guitar?... Let's just say the Revstar with P90s won! 😉
I use Amplitube 5 for my amp sounds. It is easier to fit a guitar collection into limited space, and it gives me way more flexibility than could be achieved with the handful of amps I could fit in the same space.
The Kali monitors are fine. Having a subwoofer or two with some DSP to handle the room modes might give you what you are looking for. Your problem might simply be one of volume, which more accurate speakers like iLoud MTMs or something from the lower end of Neumann or Genelec are not going to solve.
My 2 cent, using a few months in rehearses: a) in the amp's Fx loop 👍 it sounds great, great tone, but.... with the band, the sound disappears a little (I still don't know why). b) cab sim 👍 good tone, and it sounds normal with the band. c) in front of the amp 👎 the worst way, really bad sharp tone. Congrats, the best review of The Guitar Butler I've seen.
Hello. Great video, as always. One question, how the 4 cable method could "bypass" the preamp better than only pluging the new preamp directly to the fx loop return? Wouldn't it be completely bypassed using the fx loop return? 🤔 Thanks!!!
I suspect that non "guitar" frequencies listening through monitors is the reason they gave the presence control. Just turn that down, and you are good.
He’s made a few comments on other episodes about eating well and staying active. It’s great to see the process he’s made. He looks really healthy and happy.
The direct sound was wonderful with gain!!!!!!! Especially compared to Orange's previous attempts at this type of product. I think you guys were off on this one!!!
I respect Rob starting a business making guitars. I'm just not a fan of one single guitar of his. They just do not look good at all. Ola Englund did badass with the Solar guitars.
It's a matter of taste really, I personally own a BEA standard and I love it! I looked at the Solar stuff but it was too much of a "I listen to metal and I want everyone to know it so it's pointy everywhere! Like BC Rich you know" but the colour choices and woods are great
Can anyone actually name a famous artist or song who used Orange amplifiers? Just because they were the backline on The Beat Club does not translate to being used on classic recordings or live albums. Sabbath did not use Orange except on one promotional video.
Ok here's my beef with these type of preamps. I'm a stereo rack guy, I love old rack gear and not many manufacturers are making new products anymore. IF this had stereo outs, I might consider integrating this into my rack. I could just shelf it and hook it up to my line mixer like all my other preamps. If I was running mono, it would be doable, but things sound better to me in stereo, especially when you are running two cabs on either side of the room. As it sits it's completely useless to me, and that also goes for a majority of all these other preamp type pedals. They are made for the lay man and that is pretty lame.
Its okay guys… with the tube shortages and future uncertainty for prices across the board, we all have to lower our standards and make some compromises on gear so you’re just preparing us for the inevitable
Man these analogue cabsims sound absolutely ass, same on the terror stamp. I own the stamp and running the FX loop send into an ir is world's better. Really unfortunate that you can't switch the cab sim off on this thing, makes the XLR out pretty much unusable.

You two are a hoot. Great demo as always.
Not sure if you have demoed it, but I think Lee would enjoy the Orange TremLord a lot.

I wonder how this compares to the emulated out on a micro terror.
I'm with you on the Flash Gordon tree stump reference.

Sounds great. I was hoping you guys would do this one

Have to compare it to the victory/synergy preamps. Not the amp Sims. Also some sansamp stuff, but even they do multiple amps.
What is the reasoning behind the hieroglyphs. I would much prefer just plain old English labels. Nice sound from a pedal. Nice vid.
The Guitar Butler vs the DSM Humboldt Simplifier?? Both analogue DI. Which sounds best?
Nice Demo video, is that Lazarus behind Pete ? Oh, it is.....
Hmm, Guitar Butler vs Terror Stamp thoughts?
Pete's new 60's era psychedelia power trio "the Windy Pigs"
i'd love to see a review of the h+k stompman and see if it's any better!
Hobson from the movie "Aurthur" with Dudley Moore....my most famous Butler
Good pedal and I want the same t shirt that Lee has.

I love orange, I have a micro terror and it’s freakin awesome
I have the Rocker 15 Terror, and I think I'll get the Terror Stamp, too.
When did Pete get so skinny!?
He’s made a few comments on other episodes about eating well and staying active. It’s great to see the process he’s made. He looks really healthy and happy.
@@timoconnell and not drinking.
Very cool pedal: does have a sine/square switch so i do suspect a guitar synth inside 🧐🤣
The direct sound was wonderful with gain!!!!!!! Especially compared to Orange's previous attempts at this type of product. I think you guys were off on this one!!!
Does the Anderton amber 59 have a matte rear laquer w gloss top?
Diggin it dudes
What are you doing with your website guys
Wasn't that Device you could Fit to a Les Paul Head Stock To pull the G string straight inline with the neck Called the GUITAR BUTLER ?
I think it might have been the String Butler?
@@lukehenderson436 Yea your Right !.
Where I’d Rabea? And Mat? Are you going to do anymore “sounds like “ vids?
Terror Stamp is also a good choice and cheaper.
Plus an SC100 fead is just $200 more.
If Lee owns Andertons, why is he questioning the quality of the monitors in his studio?
If they put the tube-based rockerverb pre in a box, I'd buy it in a second.
The most famous butler is in Dinner for One for sure. Don't you think?

Mystery meat navigation? What with the daft icons? Give us words!
...and Here I JUST bought an OR-15.... (sigh)...
Dudes what about the fixer for Gibsons called the guitar butler.... I see a cease and desist order coming and a Law suite!!!!😁😂😀😎
Can anyone actually name a famous artist or song who used Orange amplifiers? Just because they were the backline on The Beat Club does not translate to being used on classic recordings or live albums. Sabbath did not use Orange except on one promotional video.
Y’all need to share the Andertons diet; everyone keeps getting skinnier! Is the UK on bread rations?? My chubby a$$ is getting jealous!😅😅
I thought it was something quite different :P
Nice
The Kali 8 will sound much better if You add on subwoofers Guys... Troy from Alantic City 🌆

Just use a splitter
Could you use two?
Mr. Belvedere..

Or…. Just a buy an Orange OR15 like I did. Problem solved. 😄

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Complicated.
I can't wait to pay over $400 for this solid state dirt box. NOT!!! Just sayin
Sounds just as bad as every Orange amp I've ever heard.
Only 20 min.? WTH is this? Unsubbing. 🤡🤣🥰
