Beautiful rendition, loads of love from West Bengal, India. We learned Robert Burn through Tagore(First non European to receive Nobel prize). Tegore had deep admiration for Scottish poets. He infact used the tune of "Ye Banks and Braces" to compose another song "Phule Phule dhole dhole"..(my mom used to sing that song for us when me and my brother was little kid)..I have visited Edinburgh and heard this song in bagpipe...So Rabby Burn is really close to my heart.
What a voice! Tonnes of love from India. I learnt Tagore's Bengali version of this song as a toddler. Got to hear the Scottish version as an adult. In love with this song.
Beautiful, came here searching for the song after learning that the famous Bengali song ‘Phule Phule Dhole Dhole’ by Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore was actually inspired from this.
Hi Every body...I belong to the clan of Rabindranath Tagore and I'm from Bengal in India...Kavi Guru Tagore had adopted this tune for a song 'Phule phule dhole dhole'...ya..most importantly u r a remarkable artist..hats off to u...
I'm performed this song in my music class and I wish I had heard your rendition of it sooner. Such a beautiful tone I truly love your voice and take on this piece.
Thank-you Ashly, that’s a lovely comment for me to hear! Are you taking classical singing lessons one-to-one, or is it group lessons? 😊 It’s a great song to be singing! 👍🏻
Christy-Lyn is such a nice woman. She is always friendly and she has always a smile for her audience. That's what I estimate about her and her videos. We are not quite accustomed to that up here in Europe.
Thanks for the recommendation! Someone told me before that I remind them of Claire from Outlander, but I've never seen it before. I would love to watch it though, I should try to find it somehow! I do know the song Skye Boat Song, but I usually play an instrumental version and the words I know are slightly different. But the link you sent is a stunning version!!! Thanks for sharing
So lovely! This has been one of my favorite melodies ever since I first experienced Percy Grainger's wind band setting of it back when I played in school bands!
Very pretty! I love the downward chords during the vocal parts. I'm glad you're doing another concert-I have it in my calendar! I missed the last one as I was playing in an Irish session, but I figured that was a good excuse ;)
This arrangement is so effective without being difficult, I love it! After I'd played this arrangement I couldn't really get my mind out of the space to arrange my own version. This one just stuck! So pleased you're planning on watching the next live concert - can't wait!! You're right, an Irish session is the best excuse ever :D
***** You're wellcome! By the way, what date is your next online concert? (You said it appeared on the screen, but since I can't see that, thought I could ask here :) )
Ye banks and braes o' bonnie Doon, How can ye bloom sae fresh and fair? How can ye chant, ye little birds, And I sae weary, fu' o' care! Thou'll break my heart, thou warbling bird, That wantons thro' the flowering thorn: Thou minds me o' departed joys, Departed never to return. Aft hae I rov'd by bonnie Doon, To see the rose and woodbine twine: And ilka bird sang o' its Luve, And fondly sae did I o' mine. Wi' lightsome heart I pu'd a rose, Fu' sweet upon its thorny tree! But may fause Luver staw my rose, And ah! She left the thorn wi' me.
I truly love this one! May you consider it for a future harp/singing video lesson? I know you have already a huge list 😄 Just adding this idea! Anyway, this kind of song fits your voice beautifully, wow! So delightful to hear ❤️
Hi Vivek! You should definitely start learning the harp!! There are so many resources online. And if you're interested maybe subscribe to my channel - I'm going to start giving harp tips etc soon.
How beautiful! You are really blessed! :) I wanna learn this beautiful instrument as well. May I ask you how long you play the harp yet? You sing like a professional as well! SO beautiful! Incredible! Thank you for sharing this music!
Tagore wrote the song after being inspired from this Robert Burns song. Tagore was also inspired by Auld Lang Syne and composed Purano shei diner kotha based on that song too.
“"The Banks O' Doon" is a Scots song written by Robert Burns in 1791, sometimes known as "Ye Banks and Braes". Burns set the lyrics to an air called The Caledonian Hunt's Delight. Its melodic schema was also used for Phule Phule Dhole Dhole, a song by Bengali poet Rabindranath Tagore.”

I've only read Tagore in translation, but he is wonderful! He is a world treasure.

Beautiful. Have not heard this in over 40 years. I went to a school called Braeside and we sang it there.
Thank you for taking me right back
Ah beautiful nostalgia! I'm so glad it could do that 🥰.

There is a song which is similar to this composed by Rabindranath Tagore -"Phule phule dhole dhole in Bengali language.
Tagore wrote the song after being inspired from this Robert Burns song. Tagore was also inspired by Auld Lang Syne and composed Purano shei diner kotha based on that song too.
this ar's my gyle.

I'm curious about your shawl pin. It looks like a clan badge but I can't make it out.
Yes it is! It’s the McDougall one - my mom is a McDougall 💕
I'm a Robertson by birth....think that's why I
love the harp. It's in my blood.
Nice voice..but please mention the original creator of the music of this song "Rabindranath Tagore"..
