    The 19th century belonged to Britain, the 20th to America, but the 21st is already shaping up as belonging to Asia, wherein India will play a major role! Derek Michael D'Costa; SJEHS-B'lore'63, IIT-Kgp'69, P.Eng.'76, FEC'09, OVSA'10, PEO-WT'19. Toronto, Canada M5S2T9. February 21, 2019

    Parag talks a lot of sense and backup with data.

    It'll be a lot more peaceful when the issue of who's number one becomes irrelevant.

    To be more correct, the future is Africa.

    • @johntse8655

      yes, in a hundred years. the most advanced african country right now? SA, and it is going down. until the majority of african countries can govern themselves selflessly, it will not happen.

      There are African countries that are growing rapidly, it's just that their starting points are low to begin with, making their growth seem meager. But many are at the same place that several Asian countries either still are or were prior to their industrial booms. For the most part, the countries that are developing more rapidly or stably are small countries like Eswatini, Botswana, Rwanda, Senegal, and Ghana. However, it's my hope that the other, larger African countries, like Nigeria, Kenya, and Ethiopia, begin to also experience more rapid, far-reaching growth soon. But growth doesn't happen in a day. Even South Korea used to be one of the poorest countries in the world. So I wouldn't discount them.

    Parag's analysis is very good, even on how to compete with China in other countries.

    • @johntse8655
      @johntse8655 3 года назад

      actually, there is no need to compete with china, in fact, no Asian country can or need to compete with China, why? there is a trend, and it happened in the past, Parag did refer to it in the beginning
      that is, before china, it was japan, as japan matures, cheap labour goes to Korea and to Taiwan and Singapore, they became the east Asian tigers, later, china copied Singapore
      i.e. one-party authoritarian meritocratic state that is not really democratic but also not communistic, and this formula works, and because it worked so well, labour not longer cheap,
      once china's interior cities also become middle class, all the cheap labour has to go out into the neighbouring countries with Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand and even Laos being the main beneficiaries. India also has very big investments, mainly in IT. India is special in that, they are the world's best in IT. Indonesia is potentially an even bigger beneficiary because of its huge rural population, i.e. cheap labour. why, just like in China, most cheap labour comes from the countryside, i.e. farmers. provided they can get the terrorist and corruption problem under control, the same problem with the Philippines. most farmers earn very little and barely live hand to mouth. so a factory salary plus working away from the sun. that is a big incentive.
