    I really really love this! I am definitely going to try this. even though here in the United States terracotta pots are not that expensive but when you have a lot of succulents it does get expensive over time. and it's so funny I was just thinking this morning I have to pick up probably another 15 to 20 terracotta pots and at three to four dollars a piece it's expensive! once our warm weather gets here I am definitely going to try this method,,❤️

      Wonderful !! Yes now you can use that money to buy more succulents .....and with more succulents there will be tons of toilet paper which can be now put to good use 😄
      I never buy pots either I make my own concrete pots or I recycle and save money to get more succulents ☺️

      Hey Frank, I finally made a few papercrete pots yesterday. They are left to cure under a plastic sheet. Can’t wait to see how they turn out.
      I have a question though.. after curing for 7 days, do I have to mist them when I place them for further curing in sunlight?

    • @LushGardener
      @LushGardener  3 года назад +3

      yes initially never keep in direct sunlight we usually think it should get dried quickly but quick dried pots will crack very soon so the curing process has to be slow it’s always good to spray water on them to even more reduce the curing process ….just add more cement and yes my papercrete pots are all out in the rain there don’t have any issue ….but it might get slightly very slight soft so don’t pick it up immediately but as time passes by they will get more stronger ….my few pots have been around for almost 1 and half year still going strong be it summer monsoon winter season ….but just increase the ratio of cement ( paper pulp : cement ) make it ( 2:3 )

    • @LushGardener
      @LushGardener  Год назад +1

      You can use some sand instead there has to be some aggregate otherwise it won’t be strong …

      @LushGardener  3 года назад +2

      It’s better to use it the same day especially if you have already mixed cement ….but without cement mixture only paper pulp you can keep the pulp around for couple of weeks…. But drain out or squeeze all the excess water out …. Otherwise there will be foul smell
      Even if only paper pulp dries no issue when u add water it will get mushy again
      All the best also if you want the pot to be very very strong increase the amount of cement ☺️

    • @LushGardener
      @LushGardener  3 года назад +2

      Yes we can however I have noticed and my personal experience grey cement is much stronger.....but even white cement is good just let the white cement cure more time like if grey cement takes 2 weeks to cure,give 3 weeks for white cement to cure ...all the best

    • @LushGardener
      @LushGardener  2 года назад +1

      sir let’s say it’s a 10 cm pot then the inside mould has to be small than the bigger pot atleast 2 cm smaller then you will get a good shape

    • @LushGardener
      @LushGardener  3 года назад

      absolutely I have been growing my IMPATIENT flower cutting in this …but probably you will have to make slightly bigger pot but just increase the ratio of cement ( paper pulp : cement ) make it ( 2:3 )

    • @LushGardener
      @LushGardener  2 года назад +1

      yes probably water might have fallen and it has turned into clumps ….it will difficult to make it powdery again ….yes when there are clumps it wouldn’t hold that great or it might be difficult to put it together it’s should be smooth consistency like clay …
      if you can filter it …it might help but please do wear a mask ….it will be very dusty

    • @LushGardener
      @LushGardener  2 года назад

      absolutely it will pull out all the excess moisture just like a terracotta or unglazed clay pot ….but add more cement than the paper pulp… if using 2 parts paper pulp use 3 parts Grey cement 😊

    Is the papercrete pot recyclable?

    • @LushGardener
      @LushGardener  Год назад +1

      recyclable as in after it breaks you mean ? ...it will be difficult for it to become into pulp again in water as it will get hard ....but if it breaks you can use it in the base of other pots like how we use broken clay or concrete pots ...but we cant put it in water make a pulp and use it again ....
      but lets say while making it or while curing if it breaks and its still soft yes you can mix it in water and make it fresh pulp again :) and can re moulded again

    2. Can we use white cement ?
    3. Can we replace tissue with newspaper ?

      1.make ir 20 percent paperplup 30 cement keep the cement ratio more orelse the pot will be soft
      2. as per my experience i felt white cement is not very strong and they develop cracks easily due to heat or exposure to sun .
      3.yes any paper tissue ,cardboard,newspaper ,brown grocery paper bag .

    What a sense to make pots of papercreate, if it is destroyed by water? Probably the better thing would be to find any other material

      Destroyed by water as in ? Infact people have been using them and are intact they been around for a long time out in the rain …they haven’t been destroyed 👍🏼….at the end of the day it’s your choice you can use any material not Necessary only paper it’s just an idea to recycle waste paper.
