This could also be titled "Gram Parsons & Emmylou Harris sing Boudleaux Bryant." The songwriting team of husband and wife Boudleaux and Felice Bryant wrote all three of these songs.
Emmylou has translated the essence of life in so many songs...so few artists in history can do that! Thank God Gram Parsons knew this. Emmylou...carry us through this pandemic with the angelic promise of your voice, your heart, and your guitar!!
Nobody knows what the essence of life is, rendering it untranslatable. But out of the incoherence of such a vacuous claim one truth emerges undeniable: thank God for the genius that was Gram Parsons!
Always, always the best version of 'Love Hurts' in my mind. And worth a cry, knowing that Gram and Emmy could still have been singing it all these years after.
@@cathrinecolwell3303 Their version is the first and original and very special, i agree. Maybe what Boudleaux and Bryant envisioned for their creation. But Gram and Emmylou put so much soul and feeling in to their performance, it just gives me goose bumps every time i listen to it.
These two geniuses were born to sing together. I've seen a video where they even toss their hair at the same time. So glad to hear them perform the songs of two other geniuses, the Bryants.
What is the video? I've just discovered Gram Parsons. Have heard Emmy Lou for over 45 years but those two together are superb. I am in search of a tshirt with the two of them but no luck so far....
If Sleepless Nights doesn't tug at your heart, then you're already dead. I can tell by these three songs that Gram & Emmylou have great chemistry. Very talented to say the least.
Their love for each other was very powerful. It had to hurt under the circumstances. They sang as if they were connected at the brain and their voices were two parts of the same instrument. This magic has never been duplicated.
@@susiekwong3814 To be brief Susie, Gram hired folksinger Emmylou to harmonize with him on his upcoming solo albums. They hit it off well, singing beautifully together. They did one long promotional bus tour together. Gram was married at the time. After cutting the second album, Gram's marriage ended, and Emmylou realized she was in love with him but hadn't yet told him. Stressed by some difficult events, Gram headed to the desert to cut loose a bit, miscalculated his drug and alcohol intake, and died age 26, leaving a broken-hearted Emmy. She credits him with her career success and has paid tribute to him ever since in her music, writing some beautiful songs about him. Guess I wasn't brief, but it's a story of great loss for Emmylou, for Gram and his loved ones, and for everyone who loves music.

I was always a Rocker, and love the blues. But Gram Parsons, and his greatest performances with Emmy Lou Harris were my first introducdtion to Country Music (execpt for the Stones several great country songs, mostly due to Keith's affection for country, and his freindship with Gram).
