    Painting memories in your head for years to come…do all the drives you can Peter..the costs are far greater if you don’t do them…..and one day you wake up and find you can’t because of dozens of reasons and those hurt…they really, really hurt. I have been lucky and travelled many, many mountain passes and some in the days of loose surface which adds even more fun..or terror…but there are more to do…and time is short when you get older. I’m glad you enjoyed it but now, do it again but with Tracey beside you and make those roads even more special. Stay young Peter…50 is not old…74 is much, much worse! 🫣🫣😬😀😀😀😀😀Now…time to get my SL sorted out for a trip like that..if only my far better half could get in it more easily…age is hard work sometimes! 😎

      @@Yorkshiremadmick Michael…make sure to do it when the car is ready. We managed a trip through France, Germany, Belgium, Holland and Poland just before the pandemic arrived to wreck everything. We had many places on a list to revisit but bought a house for restoration instead…that is finished so now..back to those roads! Remember…tomorrow is too late…you never wake up younger! My SL is an R231 and one of the best cars I have ever owned…no Nissan Micra’s in Nursing Home beige here thank you! 😀😀😀😀😎😎😎

    There are many epic roads around there. I have been based there, on and off, for many years. Driven all three plus many many more. They are all epic and you don’t need to be in cars like you lot are driving. I have driven them in a range of cars from hire cars (we all know how quick they can be!) to my 1.2L Fiesta and my 850cc twin cylinder Panda 4x4. Excellent filming and editing to show them off so well. Thank you.

    My wife and I spent an incredible day in a Boxster S here a few years ago. We were based near Nice and the Monte Carlo Rally had just finished. The weather was cold but bright and sunny. All day long, we had the roads to ourselves and, to give you an idea of how much fun we had, our full tank was empty by the end of the morning! I'd love to do it all again in my GR Yaris Rallye, but it resides with me in Australia...

    Being from Portugal those kinds of roads are not new for me but no matter how many times you drive on them is always a special moment, like the first time every time, makes you smile. Amazing series you did here, the last bit of driving was just out of this world. The only small very small detail is that the GTS is a bit too silent, he needs an exhaust :), apart from that for sure one of your best videos ever, and you have a lot of good ones. ;)

      I don’t think GT Tourz have a qualifying list as such but their tours are based around performance sports cars. You don’t have to follow the lead car. Each car has a sat nav with the route and a road book so you can do your own thing if you want. However for me the fun is getting the benefit of Alan in the lead car calling the road 👍

  • @nigel.w

    So, you're driving behind a 720S and a F12 on some of the best driving roads in the world, and you're keeping up no problem at all, in a car with half the horsepower. This proves that 350-400hp is more than enough for the road. I'm sure the turbo helps going up hill, but at no time did you look as if you were struglling to keep up. I also think for the average driver in a convoy like that, PDK/DCT reveals its strengths. That Red Rock Road looks very challenging at pace. I don't think I'd like to drive it in a manual at pace in a convoy. Well done!

      Thanks Nigel. Very good summary. I could really push the car and actually had to hold back quite a bit of the time. I was getting in the power very early and could really trust the car not to do something silly 👍

    Not seen that red rock road ( try saying that fast) before. Its almost as if the builders were thinking about people driving sports cars! Quite often , small tunnels require a give way system, or slowing right down. The diversions are brilliant. Lots of explosives used there, I would think. Wonder when it was built? Great vid.

    Hi Pete. Great video and love your new car. You'll be ditching them p zero's though 🤔. I am on my s3. They are so hard and uncomfortable and scary when cold 😭

    Whoa why did you guys keep going over the lane line? Even knowing you made it out safe, I winced everytime. Perhaps the lane markers were mere suggestions? Hope you let your brother drive!

      The lead car was saying when the roads were clear via walkie talkie.

    • @PetrolPed
      @PetrolPed  2 года назад +1

      It was clear and safe to do so. It smooths the line and keeps the car more stable. A technique taught by the Institute of Advanced Motorists and the Police when training pursuit driving 👍

      @@PetrolPed If we were out having a drink I fear the teasing might sneak out, but as in a comment it might sound critical (which I am not, it looked like such fun) I will say you were in the pursuit of pleasure! And my quote when I finished The Dragon here in states got lots of laughs: I didn't know you could have that much fun in a seated position! So now have more roads to add to my Bucket List.

      @@m1keyw Yes I did hear them and have used them myself driving in groups. You think they drew straws for who had to go first and either stay within the lines or make the drive more thrilling by risking it? Was teasing and hope it didn't come off critical.

    So after driving the red rock road a couple of weeks ago, I must admit, while it was good I wouldn't say it was up there as one of the best roads I've driven. Admittedly it was raining and we got stuck behind a bit of traffic, but IMO some of the Swiss alpine passes are definitely better. It's still a great road though with some cool tunnels 👍

    Epic stuff. How to do the Col de Turini is in a MINI through. 😂 Think it was the most focussed driving I've ever done, even more than being on track. Would love to do an organised trip, but it's very satisfying when you've planned it all yourself.

    Hi Ped
    I think you have got the message across with this one, congratulations.🤗🤗 If any one complains in the future “how crowded these routes were”, then you could be held responsible.😉 Not wishing to knock home territory, you will not find roads to equal your routes anywhere in U.K. even the north coast 500.

    • @PetrolPed
      @PetrolPed  2 года назад

      Mate it makes the NC500 look very ordinary. NC500 might be stunning to look at but in terms of actually driving it’s nowhere close 😬
