Mud Slap is actually a really good move to have. I ran out of PP for Leech Life and had no trouble surviving because I would barely even get hit.

It took quite a few tries but I got it! My advice would be to use PP Up on all your moves. Also, someone was clutch and used electric terrain before the shield broke, which prevented Mewtwo from resting.
Somebody actually set up psychic terain over the electric one someone else set before the shield broke and I was like what on earth are you doing?! You're making Mewtwo even more powerful there's a reason everyone suggested Misty! It also didn't prevent the heal rest like the person thought and Mewtwo was back at full. I couldn't help but laugh, it was so dumb!😂 Got lucky with some other random players and was able to beat it fairly easily but that one time was really funny!
the fact this cant, or at least so far doesnt appear to be, soloable is pretty bad imo cause pokemon doesnt do coop well so makin a limitedly available pokemon unsoloable is a huuuge mistake and i really hope this doesnt become a recurring issue with future raids. at the very least the mewtwo needs enough of a nerf that its possible to solo with the right set-up
Just completed this raid with 3 other randoms online. I made my Mew a support since I expect a large part of the people always want to deal damage. The Misty Terrain strat was absolutely a high IQ play. I saw a large amount of people saying that this raid is terrible but if you have NSO and a little patience you will find a good group to complete this.
@@sagenelumbo7183well, pokemon is all about communication with other people anyways. You can complete this raid with your irl friends with local communication, w/o NSO sub
Worth noting a Metronome will only be equal to a Insect plate or silver powder after 5 hits, as in on the sixth hit it will be better, on 5 it will be equal. If you don't think you'll be landing 5-6 in a row consistently, insect plate or silver powder is better Edit to say those calcs were done assuming you do 10 damage per hit, it appears that metronome gets worse if you're doing more damage, I recommend plate or powder Second edit, math is hard but overall I'm correct that the powder is better
Sooooooo, what I'm hearing is that Pokémon refuses to acknowledge that solo raiders exists, introverts are a thing, and communication between people highly depends on, well, communication skills. Also, going in with random people and not being able to speak to them is...counterproductive.
Managed to do it on my second try. My allies used Tera bug mew while I used a support Grimmsnarl holding a light clay with its moves being Thunder Wave, Light Screen, Foul Play, and Spirit Break. Max HP, max spe Defense.
@user-rd6zt2hi7rit's not worth it. Transfer a Mewtwo you already have, like the one from the Dynamax Raids and save yourself the stress. What's the difference with this one? A mark?! Screw that! Everything else this Mewtwo has, you can replicate (IVs, Nature, Moves, etc), the only thing, q stupid mark that doesn't really do anything. I mean, what good are bragging rights, really? I've done almost every event raid on my own with my own personal strategies, in the end, I only started playing Pokemon again to get the free Mew, grind some loot from the other raids, and soon the DLC, other than that, I'd rather spend my time on other games, not breaking my head in two trying to beat this Mewtwo with low IQ players online.
Miraculously, I beat this in solo queue. We were all Tera Bug Mews using similar stategies, but no one had Electric/Misty Terrain to skip Rest. Despite that and one person getting frozen with Ice Beam, we beat Mewtwo without anyone fainting. It was close though!
@@Unison23 Right now, my Mew is Adamant and 252 HP, 208 Atk, 48 Speed EVs. This gives just enough speed after the 1.2* raid multiplier to be faster than Mewtwo. On my first win, I was Jolly with 252 HP, 204 Atk, and 52 Speed instead since I wasn't sure if Mewtwo was Timid. I like being faster since that ensures I get Light Screen up (in solo queue, you've got no idea if anyone else will do it) before Mewtwo potentially hits me on turn 1. My only two wins so far (second one had the Rest skip) have been with 3 other Tera Bug Mews. Possibly international players since some had Japanese trainer names. The only outlier move I've seen is Pollen Puff which you can use to direct heal someone in trouble instead of Life Dew.
I got lucky enough to find 3 randos who knew this strat. We didn't have a support Mew, but it still ended up working. Thanks for all you do for the community.
With the exception of Inteleon, my friend and I always do these raids together. The fact that you can’t solo Mewtwo just feels like we’ve been training for this.
Big thank you to Austin John. This guide allowed me to catch Mewtwo FIRST TIME with 3 randoms online. I played as Support (luckily the others were attack) and I even forgot to Misty Terrain in time - we were still able to defeat him before the timer ended.
I get it. The rewards are amazing and Mewtwo is a Legendary Pokémon, but this is still overkill. It’s not a matter of you need 4 Mew to beat this. You need 4 specifically trained Mew, everyone on the same page, and a game plan on every single turn, which is almost impossible unless you team up in advance. Hopefully we can catch Mewtwo in TID.
It's actually not that bad assuming everyone has a Mew and has a relatively decent strategy. I got hooked up with another Bug Mew who basically used this strat, a Mew who spammed Mud Slap which actually helped a ton, and a Life Dew support Mew. I even forgot to PP Up Leech Life so I kinda fumbled that and fell back as a support roll spamming Struggle Bug. But I made up for it with the Misty Terrain. Basically, yes, you need four Mews that know what they're doing. But there is probably room for a bit of error and improvisation.
Me and my friends managed with 3 mews. 2 remained psychic types and 1 went tera dark using crunch. We beat it with a combo of snarls, mud slaps, and helping hand.
i was able to do this with two switches! both mews were the same attacker builds in the video but it came down to the absolute final second lol. neither of the mews died for the entire duration so maximum time is needed for this strategy, but it’s completely possible with only two players! good luck everyone 💕
@@hatsunemikuomgmy first had misty terrain (stops it from resting), struggle bug, swords dance and leech life, whereas my second had life dew instead of misty terrain. hope this helps!
Big thanks Austin! This raid was a nightmare! Easily took 10-12 attempts with raid groups that either weren’t following your strategy or had too many attack/defensive Mews. Even when I found the perfect group, circumstance led to a tight finish! Thanks again!
TLDR: Cannot solo Bug tera Mew x3 +1 support Ridiculous rewards Ridiculous Mewtwo battle Both the Mewtwo caught and Mew you battled with will have the Mightiest Mark. Pretty cool for mew, considering how difficult it looks.

@@carloscollazo6418 It's a raid, content that is designed for group play. While past Mighiest raids have been soloable, they were designed for multiple players to take on together. Now we have a raid against an Unrivaled Legendary; its not surprising that it is so strong we are forced to use group strategies to bring it down.
Fun fact about Mew, if you have BOTH Scarlet and Violet save files on the switch, you can get Mew in BOTH games. This isn't like the special event raids where you can only get one. I have two nintendo switches, the OG and the special ScarVi switch. I have both Scarlet and Violet on both consoles, I have four Mew. I have these things cause gaming and movies are my hobby and I have no life or friends lol.
Another great supporter: Alolan Muk Held item: Wide Lens Snarl Mud slap Screech Crunch Lead off with a couple Snarls and then switch between Snarl and Mud slap depending on where Mewtwo’s stats are at. Use Crunch if the debuffs are maxed out. Once the shield drops Screech its defense all the way down.
Dont think this is ever going to be soloable unfortunately. The stat drops from Struggle Bug or something similar are just way too required to ever be able to do everything necessary by yourself.
@@ItApproaches8F is a shorthand to refer to how to get a transferable shiny Mew from the 3DS eShop versions of Red and Blue, see Austin’s video from months ago on that.
Mew can be caught in Virtual Console version of Pokémon red or blue on the 3DS. 8F is the name of the, for lack of a better name, “glitch item” that opens up developer sub menus in Pokémon red. This allows for certain Pokémon with specific stat distributions to perfectly morph into the mew that was given away as an event in the original Pokémon red and blue. This Pokémon can then be passed onto Pokémon bank and home. I’m simplifying this a lot. Austin John does an amazing breakdown.
@@ItApproacheslong story short it’s essentially a way to reprogram Pokemon RBY (and their VC 3DS releases) from within the game. You can program any encounter, alter Pokemon’s stats/OT, and a lot of other stuff. It’s essentially a GameShark on steroids with no extra hardware required.
If for some reason you can’t make/get enough copies of Leech Life, you can compromise by teaching attacking Mews X-Scissor and using the Shell Bell. Between two of us being raid-ready we fell one Leech Life short for our friend group so that’s what I did, being the attacker that pivoted to support when necessary. I know it’s not much of a tip but it’s a good thing to keep in mind.
You should make a code for player who wishes to use the strat with the first in the battle the support and all other who join the attacker because rando SUCK HARD. Most of the time they attack him with like Ceruledge or mew that only do special attack, it sucks.
I really enjoyed the previous 7-Star Raids as training a Pokemon with a hyper specific build just to solo it was always a fun time. The amount of collective effort and need for friends that this raid requires makes it feel incredibly less fun. I hope someone figures out how to solo it or Gamefreak updates Mewtwo's code but in the meantime I'm good with my Mews that I never use lacking the Mightiest Mark. What Austin describes sounds like a high level WoW dungeon raid coordinated with 20+ plus people!
Yeah. I agree. Like, I don’t have time to mess around much as it is. I have even less time to mess around with people throwing on useless Mons that won’t work
My thoughts exactly. My Mews are just gonna sit in the PC for ages. I enjoy using other mons way more, plus, got other games that got my interest way more now. I'd rather play what I'm into right now instead of forcing myself to play this just for the sake of this raid.
See I’ve been annoyed that the previous 7 stars raids are way too easy. This is exactly what I wanted. What’s the point in having tough raids if you can easily solo them by yourself.
Yeah there is absolutely no strategy to solo this. It’s literally just not possible. If there way unlimited time sure , but there isn’t meaning this is not possible to solo. There is no cheese strats that work either. The cheese strats just say it’s unaffected. Guess I’ll be going to grind bud Tera dens fml
I love how mewtwo looks in this game , 3ds mewtwo looked kinda bland but in S/V looks very menacing with that new added depth in the model , It reminds me a lot to the mewtwo in the movies and Pokken

Hello - I was matched with 3 randos who also followed this strategy and was able to get Mewtwo! Thanks for the help and yall remember - you can do this! It might take a couple tries, but is definitely possible.
Cool. Guess I'm not gettting a Mewtwo with the mark since I don't have people to play with and I'm not doing this with strangers. This is such a bummer, I hate these things.
I think if they dont nerf it u cant solo it, but I just made an attack build mew and i think after about 8 or 10 times i catched it with some randoms, they also used mews and two of them wer supporters and one was attacking, it was close but in the end its possible to do it with randoms😅
I just caught it 10 mins ago. With my umbreon (snarl spam, helping hand) and my teammates which are 2 physical attack mew(leech life and crunch) and 1 support mew who keep healing us and make sure mew didnt get to rest
I assume standard raid spread, so since these are physical attackers with leach life an adamant nature with 31 IVs in all stats 252 in atk and hp, with the remainder going to s.def.
Pro tip... It doesn't matter what you do if everyone else is doing their own thing. You either get lucky with a good team or you work with friends. It took me over an hour before I just by luck got with a group where we all managed to work like a well oiled machine.
Just a little more info that I think it's important, keep in mind struggle bug even if you're an attacker mew, sometimes mewtwo uses calm mind in a turn against one of the four people and it can sky rocket in spatk if the team don't keep it in check at -6 In one of my runs between healing and the terrain, mewtwo got to +4 and it was troublesome to keep everyone at a decent hp
I think it's dumb that he spams Calm Mind, and even more dumb is that you can't see him doing it with other players. So it goes from 1 to 5 in a heartbeat.
I thibk people are really overlooking the Terra Dark option. Due to the Terra Stab, the Psystrike will actually do more damage to a Bug Mew than the non stan 80BP SE Aura Sphere to a dark type mew. Fishing for defenses drop with Crunch has been very useful. I used Shell Bell instead of metronome. Unless you havw an organized team I still had to use hinder ans setup moves msyelf making the Metronome stack not really all that effevtive.
It could be your mew that comes over for Thanksgiving, It could be your mew that is celebrating its birthday, it could be the mew that you met once in highschool but lost touch with...
This was so helpful. I happened to get it just before this cause I got lucky and found a group that was running this. This raid is nuts and you sir are a legend
You need a four stack of mew online. I don’t think you can really solo it. Apparently there might be an Arceus build for solo you can lookup and try though.
Thanks for the strategy breakdown, I managed to do it with just me and 1 friend, so it's definitely possible with 2 mews. My buddy was on the support Mew, and on my Mew I cast Leech Life 15 times, Swords Dance 9 times, and Struggle Bug 9 times
Decided to go with a support Mew and miraculously got on a team of Japanese players who were all playing this exact strategy and playing as the attack part. Executed it perfectly. Thanks a lot!

My build for this raid was basically the same as everyone else Leech life, bug buzz, swords dance (also threw electric terrain on there) But i see a lot of people going for shell bell, i personally used leftovers and they worked great
On the one hand, I’m a grown ass man still playing Pokémon. In the other hand, despite and amidst growing global unrest and strife between our common man, I just watched Austin’s video to inform myself to prepare for this raid, and by grace and luck, I zoned in with my attack Mew and two others with the host donning the healer role, and we just spent about fifteen minutes in steady battle. To experience with complete anonymity, a coherent strategy and teamwork between us that was just enough that a few misplaced attacks would have meant our defeat, we beat this thing (for me) first try. Austin, and Pokémon community, our love for this thing and sense of care toward each other to earn our victories… ya’ll made my weekend and added some fuel to my fire of the goodness of who we are and what we share in the world. It’s not small thing in my eyes. Love y’all, and thank you!
The only way to win this raid is to have four mews with perfect coordination. You either have to own four Nintendo switches and have four different save files with four different mews or you have to find four other people to coordinate with. The strategy has to perfect with every single person doing the exact moves needed in the exact order needed or else you don’t win. Well, it looks like I’m not gonna get this one. If by some miracle I do in violet I’m not even gonna try a second time in Scarlet. Simply put it’s not worth the aggravation. I’ve already spent two hours of failing, I’m not gonna keep doing this to myself.
Update: After almost 4 hours of trying today I FINALLY beat it. Everyone brought mew. Two attackers and two supporters. But it was CLOSE. I actually ran out of leech lifes even when I maxed the PP. i’m not doing that again in Violet. I’m debating if it’s even worth the effort in scarlet now.
Watched this video, prepped my mew and went to my first raid with other player. First time success, it looked other players also saw this video since they all knew what to do lol. Awesome video and guide. Would have liked that you showed the stats and nature of mew as well recommend to max pp leech life, I didnt ran out but came very close.
Got extremely lucky with this one. Went in with random people, I made my Mew attack based, but when I saw the other three Mews were spamming swords dance, I changed my role to supporting and spammed Struggle Bug and Life Dew. We just slowly chipped away that health. Psystrike did little to no damage, and whenever someone was low, one player would temporarily repurpose their role to Supporting for like 1-2 turns and as a result, nobody was knocked out. It was amazing.

Love your videos and all the work you do for us, especially those of us with skill issues! 😂😂❤
Hi John. Thank you for the help with the raid! Can you confirm if Mew getting the Mighty Mark is one per save file? Or if I beat Mewtwo multiple times can I have different Mew get the Mighty Mark?
just like old generation 1 ubers, Mew always ran a physical set so it didn't need to worry about Mewtwo boosting its Special stats. it's almost cute seeing everything wrap back around like that (Mew didn't run Leech Life back then, though, it had 20 base power. it ran Body Slam or Earthquake as its main attacking move.)
Just to add for those who don’t have mewtwo yet. Please go in with mew with bug Tera, with struggle bug, leech life, life dew, and swords dance! Make sure the other people playing with you have a mew as well. If they try to go in with something else back out of the raid asap. It took four mews with what I listed above to beat it last second!!
I did it with Hatterene + 3 random Mews. 2 of which were the physical bug set, the third was dragon and did really accomplish much. I was supporting the physical Mew with: Mystical Fire Light Screen Life Dew Nuzzle The extra leeway full paralysis gave was helpful with his attacks and calm mind spam. Only lost one mew and only cause Mewtwo froze me and I couldn't heal him. Ice beam is the only thing it can really hit me with due to typing so I never tera'd. The key is definitely keeping his Special Attack Stat DOWN. We didn't have electric/misty terrain to prevent his rest, so the Mews had to munch him to death from full, it was NAIL BITING and we barely clenched it before time ran out.
Ahh to be randomly put with 3 others that know this same strategy, it was great. I immediately became the support after I buffed defenses and kept using struggle bug/life dew to keep an eye on the teams health. No fainting once, 2 attackers and 2 on defense. Wish there was a way to thank/talk to each other after the battle to make new friends!
I just recently got into revisiting all the old games! Been enjoyed tf out of HGSS and BW2 but I definitely will have to take some time for this event! Thanks Austin!
I ran it with Espathra, Opportunist-Mirror Herb, Lumina Crash, Shadow Ball, Light screen, Calm mind. Beat it with 2 mew teammates and Grimmsnarl. Pretty tough, i died 4-5 times myself until we offset Mewtwos sp atk with my opportunist boosts, as well as lumina crash harshly lowering his Spdef boosting Shadowbalk and Snarl damage. But the leech life strat looks way easier lol

The point of terrible is they force you to go online without much strategies for playing alone with NPC that help nothing at all.
What is NSO?
@@DeVon675 nintendo switch online subscription
@@sagenelumbo7183well, pokemon is all about communication with other people anyways. You can complete this raid with your irl friends with local communication, w/o NSO sub
Oh thanks. And what stats are recommended to raise for a support mew?
Thanks for spreading awareness of the build! This does a ton of good for the community! We appreciate you 💙
Worth noting a Metronome will only be equal to a Insect plate or silver powder after 5 hits, as in on the sixth hit it will be better, on 5 it will be equal. If you don't think you'll be landing 5-6 in a row consistently, insect plate or silver powder is better
Edit to say those calcs were done assuming you do 10 damage per hit, it appears that metronome gets worse if you're doing more damage, I recommend plate or powder
Second edit, math is hard but overall I'm correct that the powder is better
Sooooooo, what I'm hearing is that Pokémon refuses to acknowledge that solo raiders exists, introverts are a thing, and communication between people highly depends on, well, communication skills. Also, going in with random people and not being able to speak to them is...counterproductive.
Honestly this raid was insane
Tell me about it
That’s like saying the sky is blue
They’re forcing people to have to interact
Miraculously, I beat this in solo queue. We were all Tera Bug Mews using similar stategies, but no one had Electric/Misty Terrain to skip Rest. Despite that and one person getting frozen with Ice Beam, we beat Mewtwo without anyone fainting. It was close though!
Omfg I've been an idiot i was using dark tera mew 💀
But did the others have Mew?
What were your Mew’s EVs?
@@luuthienan2703 they said they were ALL bug tera type mews in their comment
I feel so bad for kids playing this game
Why can’t I just catch pokemon without having to do these stupid events….
With the exception of Inteleon, my friend and I always do these raids together. The fact that you can’t solo Mewtwo just feels like we’ve been training for this.
Can I join you guys ?
Horn Drilled Mewtwo six times now.
@@ItApproaches that’s a lie , Tera raid bosses are unaffected by ohko moves. It literally says they are not affected by it
Super dang doesn’t even work , idk why you thought a horn drill would, if you’re gonna lie at least make it believable
You can totally do it alone 😂😂😂
But yes, HornDrill/etc. does not work...
Remember when you could solo Pokémon games……Pepperidge farm remembers
Big thank you to Austin John. This guide allowed me to catch Mewtwo FIRST TIME with 3 randoms online. I played as Support (luckily the others were attack) and I even forgot to Misty Terrain in time - we were still able to defeat him before the timer ended.
Tera raids are still trash and buggy. Timer bar is so random and sometimes skip a chunk of time without any reason and the hp bar still bugged
So basically, if you don't have friends to play with, you have no chance. Thanks Game Freak!
Unless you got another switch and another copy of the game. Still sucks though.
Agreed
Honestly outside of the 100 psychic tera shards the rewards aren’t worth the effort in my opinion
@@Tyreek09 3 Ability Patches and 3 Gold Bottle Caps for first clear: Am I a joke?

Bug tera Mew x3

Ridiculous rewards

Both the Mewtwo caught and Mew you battled with will have the Mightiest Mark. Pretty cool for mew, considering how difficult it looks.
The support Mew can have the dark Tera type and use Snarl whenever Mewtwo removes its stat decreases.

Boost your physical defense with Iron Defense, Mewtwo's Psystrike deals physical damage. Reflect will give you more time to max your defense

Snarl
Mud slap
Screech
Crunch
Lead off with a couple Snarls and then switch between Snarl and Mud slap depending on where Mewtwo’s stats are at. Use Crunch if the debuffs are maxed out. Once the shield drops Screech its defense all the way down.
I’ve been desperate for this guide! Thank you Austin!!
Dont think this is ever going to be soloable unfortunately. The stat drops from Struggle Bug or something similar are just way too required to ever be able to do everything necessary by yourself.
The fact the mew also gets the mark is making me want to do the 8F thing
What the hell is 8F?
@@ItApproachesA long convoluted glitch done in Red/Blue that uses a glitched item called "8F" to make mew transferable to pokemon home.

I assume standard raid spread, so since these are physical attackers with leach life an adamant nature with 31 IVs in all stats 252 in atk and hp, with the remainder going to s.def.
Hey Austin John, thanks to you I got my Mewtwo on my second time. Thank you so much!
Pro tip... It doesn't matter what you do if everyone else is doing their own thing. You either get lucky with a good team or you work with friends. It took me over an hour before I just by luck got with a group where we all managed to work like a well oiled machine.
So you’re telling me that Pokémon thinks everyone has at least three friends?
And can afford online
I sure as hell ain't gonna buy the NSO
Well that's all my excitement for this event completely shot.
Just a little more info that I think it's important, keep in mind struggle bug even if you're an attacker mew, sometimes mewtwo uses calm mind in a turn against one of the four people and it can sky rocket in spatk if the team don't keep it in check at -6
In one of my runs between healing and the terrain, mewtwo got to +4 and it was troublesome to keep everyone at a decent hp

My build for this raid was basically the same as everyone else
Leech life, bug buzz, swords dance (also threw electric terrain on there)
But i see a lot of people going for shell bell, i personally used leftovers and they worked great
So you HAVE to pay for Nintendo switch online to even get this thing? bruh 😑
What’s the EV spread used for Mew?
Max hp and attack and leftover EVs for special defense.

Followed this method as a supporter mew and caught mewtwo the unrivalled first try with randoms! I love this community
What stat spread do you use for each mew?
The biggest part is hp, I've done it without other evs, the important part is keeping mewtwo at -6, with that, you can invest in attack if you want
so hp and attack for the attacker mews and HP and sp. def for the support mew?

Hi John. Thank you for the help with the raid!

Just one per save... like all the Mightiest 7 star mons

just like old generation 1 ubers, Mew always ran a physical set so it didn't need to worry about Mewtwo boosting its Special stats. it's almost cute seeing everything wrap back around like that (Mew didn't run Leech Life back then, though, it had 20 base power. it ran Body Slam or Earthquake as its main attacking move.)
I did it with three mews and a bot, 1/4 timer left.
Finally beat ‘em!!! Playing online with people on the same page is awesome
I did it with Hatterene + 3 random Mews. 2 of which were the physical bug set, the third was dragon and did really accomplish much. I was supporting the physical Mew with:
Mystical Fire
Light Screen
Life Dew
Nuzzle
The extra leeway full paralysis gave was helpful with his attacks and calm mind spam.
So do you think is it possible to beat without a mew? also thanks for the tip
Well you get a free mew still and the Blisseys get you bug tera shards so might as well to do this strat.
I'm hoping we don't actually need this particular Mewtwo or a Mew with Mightest mark for a mission in the DLC. Anybody remember the Sinjoh Ruins mission in HGSS and the Zoroark mission in BW???
