Cracks me up every time Steve turns a grinder or something loud on when the customer is mid-sentence. Kind of a subtle hint to shut them up
Or he has to get to work
That woman had the most annoying voice, like she was 3 sheets to the wind. He should just walked around with the grinder running the whole time he was there.
I had a pain in the ass “engineer “ hawking over me while I was installing his boiler. It would wipe my solder joints and flick the little solder booger in his direction. After the forth order fifth time he got the hint and went upstairs lol
"They look friendly to me" hahaha
It would be like the scene from “something about Mary”
@@Samlol23_drrich 😂🤣😂🤣
I liked that line too
That was funny!
Loved the sarcasm. 😂
she sounds hammered 🛠
Wasssstid
Thought same 😉👍😂😂😎
First thing I thought, lol
High as a kite
Definitely
"they look friendly to me" 😂😂 I died laughing when you said that and in my head I was thinking "no effing way are they friendly"
We went out to an old ladies house once to do some work and she called her dog the beast but he was friendly. She had him locked up on the back porch and he was chewing the plastic pieces off the door window trying to get in and each bark you could feel it in your chest how loud he was. Oh but he's a real cuddler lol.
If she took her empties back that would probably cover it.
I think in Massachusetts you get nothing for empties.
@@serge4856 She should move to CT; our great blue state is going to .10cents a deposit.
@@AStanton1966 but you pay that upfront, only profitable if you're collecting from other's.
@@AStanton1966 wow, Michigan been 10 cent since forever
I was thinking the same thing. But hers probably comes in a box lol
Ooooooh mama she sounds like one of my lawn care clients in New Bedford Ma, always tipsy & tough to get money from!
"mud from her shoes" I needed a good laugh today. Thanks Steve!
Guarantee Steve knew that wasn't mud! 😆
@@volvo09 Nothing like a bit of Shogdite on the floor 😉
Not good
“They look friendly to me!” 😂😂😂
He sounds like Columbo when he enters a crime scene. Half the conversation is casual chit-chat while under his breath he is making a diagnosis and solving the problem. 👍
Yea the diagnosis is is this one a stiff or is there money
This is why its a good idea to have a minimum charge for a service call, at least she was honest lol.
They're up to $800 here and $400 per hour afterwards
@@wileecoyote5749 where is here??
AFTER he questioned her. AFTER.
Half honest is lying.
@@scottr8360She assumed it would cost a low amount and that was her mistake. Steve talked about this and I experienced the same thing, It is very hard to give "free" quotes without tearing into things and time is money. The customer may be able to find someone willing to give a low quote, but how good are they? will they be able to cover good quality materials? do they have the proper tools? do they guarantee their work? Can they do the job right away? If you don't think the customer can afford the work, then you have to ask tough questions to cover yourself. This comes with experience. If you have a minimum service amount, it covers you regardless and you win either way. If its a 20 dollar fix the problem, do you think the lowest rate person will be honest about that?
All of a sudden she became a disabled vet and bounced checks... red flags everywhere.
disabled due to her drinking probably.
Must have seen some serious action.
Slurring "I'm a disabled vet"
No response...
@@volvo09 exactly either she’s all benzod or alcoholed out sad
These things happen all the time to businesses.
The problem is that small businesses don't have the manpower, time, or resources for these disgusting BS wannabes artist clients.
“No they are friendly”. “They look friendly to me”. 😁😂😂
But $$$talks!😎👍😊
The joys of being self employed
People always see the other side of grass greener.
Be careful of what you wish folks.
It's about the entire package 📦 , not just the best portion of it.
after the drive and diagnosis I would have just asked her how much cash she could get. It wouldn't be a big deal to sweat a couple couplers for $100 or so. Better than driving Wy empty handed at 9 mpg
I was thinking the same.
You don’t negotiate your rate. Worst thing you can ever do.
@@John-lu2bp yup because then people expect it and waste your time
So, you went from $500 to $100 dollars and you still did the repair and responsibe for your work. I would not do it. What's to keep her from paying you just $50 at the end.
@@david19226 that's why you ask how much cash she has before you start but your right. after giving a diagnosis and using 8 gallons of gas to drive there and back leaving empty handed is the better option
A plumber with a heart is a plumber out of business. I learned this lesson too late
As a self employed master electrician contractor I fully agree with you.I couldn’t make a buck .
Yes you guys are 100 percent correct. I personally would have worked with her because she was retired RN and Vet. If you're running your business right you should be able to do a small job like that for free maybe once a year or every other year. My opinion.
Wrong Steve did it right no money no work simple
500.00! You do charge like it’s rocket science.
300$ was fair
Next time she calls i wouldnt even answer lol
That's right! Cannot work for free. Steve has to cook a big pot of something and fill 32 plastic containers. He ain't gonna buy them groceries with his looks mama!!
I have that same thermostat, and I think all the (2 AA) batteries do are for backing up the settings. I'm sure it runs off of a 24V supply.
I wouldn't say she's struggling too much. Sunroom, super fancy high efficiency boiler. She's spending money someplace. You saved yourself a BIG headache with this one I think! Good move
It's Massachusetts, someone talked her into (or she convinced herself) into a new boiler with the "green" tax incentives for new heating systems. They were giving like 2-4k towards replacements, with various long loans on top.
dog food isnt cheap
Lol as soon as he makes his first cut and water is pouring out… “I don’t know if I can pay you”.
He goes “dogs look friendly” omg man.. love this guy
Sounds like if you had a bottle of 🍷 Boone's Farm, she could've worked it out in trade🥒😂
Fun Video, Thanks!👍🇺🇸
Sounds like she had a head start on the wine...maybe!😂
Long long ago I did service calls. I’m glad I quit that soon after I started. No money, bad checks, drunks, stinking filthy places and then yeah well honey we can work this out in other ways. No thanks. Lol
Ole Steve probably worked it out alright🥰
Good call Steven. It's all about priorities. She is willing to spend for dog food and new flooring. But heat is optional?
We’re all curious if there will be a Part 2 to this..
Those are the people with the most money.
She's tighter than 2 coats of paint, momma!
As a small business owner myself, Chasing my money is turning into a full-time job, Momma!
Steve I don't have time to watch this whole video, I just wanted to drop in and say I'm glad you're pumping out the videos again. I'm waiting for a slow time to binge them all
this is great watch this one full of dog shit everywhere
I had a guy who told me what the problem is . And I told him ok maybe , maybe not I need to test , so after testing he was right and I told him ok yes it is here he told me I told you because another plumber was here and fixed it ,so I fix the problem ,charged him I think 185. He said no the other guy ONLY charged me 100 bucks. I said when 3 weeks ago ,why did you not call him back , he will not come back ,well now it is fixed right I told him ,185 he said no 100 and I have other work for you , I told him are kidding me , I took the 100 and said don’t ever call me again. People are mess up.
4 inches of water 😅 Last weekend my neighbor comes home after being out all day to find water all over the first floor and a rain shower in the basement. Called me because he had no idea how to turn the water off. I shut the main and eventually isolated the shut off for the line. Evidently he used an unlicensed plumber (to save money) who ran the supply lines in an un-insulated exterior wall. Needless to say the pipe froze and burst 😂 He’s got a $5k deductible on the homeowners policy. As they say, the cheap comes out expensive!
I've worked for Electricians and they usually have a service fee just to come out to a job.
Depends on the area you are in, but the lowest is usually $80 per person.
Well, when the wannabe client doesn't have money, it is what it is.
Later on, spend lots of time chasing ghost money 💰?
Steve gave her the old how you doin!! 😂😂
She should have been straight with you on the phone and tried to work a deal out before she asked you to do the call
This lady owes you Money for wasting your time.
You need one of those big hanging work lights (batterie operated) for when there's no lights in the basement 😊
Miss Molly lookin’ sooo cute in her turtleneck sweater! I’ll tell ya what, they should outlaw those f’ing battery powered thermostats. What a stupid idea, your whole house potentially being ruined because of a couple of AAA batteries!! Should be required to have a 24 volt supply and batteries only for clock memory backup if the power goes out. Stupidest idea I’ve ever heard of and insurance companies shouldn’t allow them!
people need to understand if you did repairs for free you would not be in business very long. steve did the right thing.
I retired from the bowling machine repair business. One small center told me he would not be paying any invoices till September 'cause business would be slow. I told him to call me when he had the money. BYE !
At least Miss Molly was enjoying the ride. I laughed when you were at the red light at the beginning of the video, and she was rocking her head back as if to say, "Come on let's go!"
Why is it old people dont want to admit their pets are relieving themselves on their floor? My dad when he got older he had a dog that would urinated all over the floor and my dad would insist it was that it wasnt pee it was that he had spilled water there.
Mudd from the shoe mixed with poop. Those dogs looked friendly until you enter. One had big drooling fangs too.
I understand getting old is not pleasant however, having filth all around and with children to help out and they don't is a sad thing...I'll bet the mother didn't raise the kids in filth like they are doing to her.
Nobody wants wants to deal with chasing customers down or taking them to court. Good call packing it up!
Nobody needs to deal with that kind of BS🐂 💩.
You read that lady like a flippin book Steve!
🚩🚩🚩🚩 Experience has clearly taught you when to run.
@@serendipityforever1406 Working men with years on the job like Steve and myself could probably write a book on how to avoid being screwed over by a customer. His direct approach is perfect. "We ain't workin' for free Mama!"
Cash is King.
I caught a buzz just listening to her
I’ll gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today
That cellar is straight out of Silence of the Lambs. It puts the lotion on it's skin.
...or else it gets the hose again!
The lady teaching Steven about mud from her shitty shoes and how rubber checks go bouncy. And how friendly dogs bite you in the wallet.
gone in a flash!!
I remember the one video you did saying the lady wouldn't pay you /didn't remember. This video made me think of that video.
Have another drink lady!
That's what I was thinking it sounded like she was slurring her speech.
You’re awesome! Thanks for your videos , you helped me figure out my galvanized well water tank was filled with water and no air. Drained and added air
Sounds like Mrs Wormwood from Matilda
Why are these old ladies so loud?good call steve
Probably half deaf.
So the pipe is already cut open water dripping..oh by the way check might bounce...i love steve this dude is straight up and down..not easy being chessy momma
The number ONE reason that Service Pros don't hesitate to come to my house and help when I need it... I PAY CASH!! The plumbing guys, the septic guy, the hvac guy... Cash is ready when the job is done.
My kind of customer. Cash is still King.👍👍
@@veeko616 I pay mostly ether in debt or cash if i can. I very rarely pay in check.
Jesus, the son or daughter should be the one dealing with that shit, not her.
She’s 3 sheets to the wind.😅
Boy, she had the nerve to call you and has no money.
Just what I was thinking. Waste of fuel to drive to a no pay job, I don't think so.
@serendipityforever1406 yes she said she had 700 but she had other bills coming out of it and didn't know if she had the money to cover the 500-dollar check. That's why Steve packed up and left. He doesn't work for free. Listen to the conversation again. She is the one who said she thinks her check will bounce.
Good thing those were nice doggies
Maybe it is a good idea to put a disposable plastic tray under the damaged and cutted pipes to catch the drips and draining out the pipes"Steve".
I usually keep a couple of cleaned grocery stores' plastic produce trays for the purpose.
We all know it's not a freebie economic 101.
Yeah that was kinda stupid to just let the water out on her floor and not put something under the cut to let the water pour into.
you got so lucky she's a talker, most that know the check will bounce won't even be around while you are there
Great video! Enjoyed every second of it!
Steve tha ear,s tha ,ear, ooh that,s the spot ,yeh buddy peace to all
That new Viessmann boiler wasn’t cheap looks like a decent install.
Ya them pups look real friendly 😂
"At least it washed all the Dog Sh** off the floor, huh?"
Steve pulled outta there almost as quick as biden outta Afghanistan . But Steve didn’t leave anything behind
Left her with a leaker momma lol
Steve might would work for free but Molly sure won't
What a waste of time (and gas) going out there. Don't call someone over to do work and tell them you cannot pay them when they are half way through the work!
Luckily she said it now before giving you a flimsy check . Then your chasing her down for 500 bucks . Her liquor store got paid but she is trying to F the repair man over GTFO
Steve ,s like yup he,s a hugger ha ha
the best god damn channel on RUclips ......
In God we trust...everyone else pays cash...and that water leaking everywhere...
You are the best. Man you got patients.
Hang in there Steve. You can't work for nothing no way. Thanks for the video
Why didn't she tell you that before you drove all the way the f&*^ out there???
I wonder if the people that installed the "new floor" got paid??
She's how old? She sounds like she's grown up there...But didn't know...ok. I bet she has plenty of money. She definitely has plenty of things to sell.
At your rate the job probably wouldn't have been half that price. An older woman like her should have known what time and material meant. I would have charged $25 for the 4 fittings and $10/foot for 3/4 m plus 2 hours to fix and purge the baseboard so right around $250 and I bet you would be right around there as well.
Good thinking to ask her about payment before starting the job 😅
I would do the job and get her heat before the house floods and then cash the check when she tells you to cash the check. She fought for our country Steve.
lol
If her son turns on the valve to that zone you cut she's going to be flipping pissed off.
Once she started with the "Is it still gonna be $500?" time to roll
Been there and done that! I would have left too! When you go back, cash only!
My hats off to you putting up with residential.
"They look friendly to me!"........ 😂
He’s nicer to the dog than some customers! Lol!
The copyright ticker is not needed. You don't have a copyright until you actually file with the copyright office. So, really its just annoying.
i put it in there because my videos are always getting stolen so it a good thing to have it inbeded in videos
@@stevenlavimoniere Ok, that makes sense. In the youtube studio you can designate if someone can use your video or not. You can make it so it can't be downloaded. But, yeah that's crazy.
Check out the battery grinder they run pretty good When the batteries Half full you can control them very well
Doesn't have money for repairs but had money for new floors to shit on and the Taj Mahal's heating system in the basement.
There are 2 types of people who cry poverty any time they have to dish out money to get work done to their house. The first type is a cheap SOB that has the money but they have been frugal and stingy their whole lives that they hate to part with their money. The second type is the one that will have the money to spend on frivolous stuff like clothes, accessories, cars, adult toys etc but when it comes to getting work done they act like they got no money. I've seen both and they are both disgusting.
500 a bit steep to solder in a 3' piece of cooper pipe, should have helped her out a little
That’s wat I was thinkin..
yes time and material would have been a lot cheaper i offer that...but she wanted a price ..i dont know what i will run into so yes i go in high .. unless your a dumb dumb and go in low
@@stevenlavimonierebut you saw that it was going to be less than $500. Why couldn't you have just charged what it took to fix it. You knew the $500 was way more than it would have taken.

she sounds like someone i know who is ALWAYS drunk.
