Great video! Subscribed. So hey! I have the same exact vehicle. My radio works and all the speakers except the subwoofer. Also, there is no bass at all coming from the speakers. Someone said on reddit that it was the amp. Any advice on what to do? I just want the factory sound back. Thanks!

You could replace the amp with another JBL amp, but honestly it sounds super weak compared to the freestyle audiophile system sub, its really worth the conversion. I also wired one up in my 95 f250, used a box and speaker from a 2004 sport, same plugs, rattles the cab. Exhaust your options, because the premium audio system for the explorer comes with a full 8 inch woofer, the jbl system comes with a 6 incher, its more worth your money to bypass all that jbl bullshit and go with a bigger speaker in my honest opinion. The premium box is larger because the radio amp isnt there, making it the best choice

@@Hunt4Yoshi Thanks for your quick reply! How do I even get to the amp? Also, Do you think the amp could just need a fuse? Does it control the bass in all the speakers? I hear no bass.

@JoeRobertsPersonalpage you would get the amp out of another truck in the junk yard, they dont sell them anymore. And your speakers will cut all bass unless the amp is working for the sub. Which is the reason i bypassed it, because it was hindering the audio. Sorry for late response, i dont get notifications for replies for some reason.

You're only using the factory sub amp, correct? You bi-passed the other amp all together? I'm trying to do the same thing but would like to use the JBL Stereo amp. Thanks

I left the original radio/amp plugged in so i could pass through the power to the subwoofer, but bypassed its speaker outputs to run them to my head unit

I showed the amp, and what wires were cut and spliced, i told you where i routed it, i told you how i made a plug, im not understanding what you arent getting from that, the only thing i didnt do was cut and splice on camera because it would have been a bitch to do.
This video was more or less me showing what mods i had to do to get my sound system working the way i wanted it

@@Hunt4Yoshi but still not how and what wires are used for the speaker wires, that 2nd plug off favtory head unit doesn’t have enough wires to have all speakers

@Christian Bailinson i mentioned in the video that i cut the harness for the speaker wires out of a ford aerostar, realistically any 90s ford should have the standard 8 pin connector, i also mentioned i ran a 9 wire from the dash all the way to the amp, i showed the amp plug with the 9 wire spliced to it, the wires are universally color coded to speakers on the 9 wire end, i also posted a link to the colors on reddit
