My local priest blessed my brown scapular, but he is not a Carmelite priest, so it was not really an enrollment. He said a blessing before the Cross. I am wearing the scapular day and night and I hope that the blessing of my local priest is enough to have Saint Mary's protection.

It is ideal that you ask a Catholic Priest to bless the Scapular and to impose it on you while saying the following prayer: Short Form for the imposition of the Scapular (To be said by a Priest) - The Priest blesses and then confers the Scapular saying: "Receive this Scapular, a sign of your special relationship with Mary, the Mother of Jesus, whom you pledge to imitate. May it be a reminder to you of your dignity as a Christian in serving others and imitating Mary. Wear it as a sign of her protection and of belonging to the family of Carmel, voluntarily doing the will of God and devoting yourself to building a world true to His plan of community, justice and peace."

My wife was in a terrible car accident and emerged unhurt. We always have a Scapular hanging from the rearview mirror.
That same thing happened to a friend of mine. Huge car wreck and barely even a scratch. I told him he needs to wear it not just have it on his mirror.
