The latter is something that nobody else in the Bat Man family's ever done.
Ya but punishers stalemated daredevil multiple times and has much more experience fighting. So I'm ok with the decision.
Guys, can we please just take a second to appreciate how fucking awesome a job the guys portraying each character did? Holy shit! Those two guys are phenoms! I have the utmost respect for the actors that played Frank Castle and Jason Todd. Those stunts were extremely tight, well choreographed and perfectly executed!

Hand to hand combat, Jason wins. Trained by Batman AND the League of Demons?? I'm sure the flag wavers would say his Marine Corps training gives him the advantage, but this is our universe. HOWEVER: I'd think most likely Punisher would try to take him out quickly with a long-range sniper shot, and probably get it

This should be an alternate ending. This could easily go either way. Very equally skilled characters.
The Punisher has a tactical mind equal if not greater than that of Batman's, and although he has mastered less martial art styles than Bats, he has 40+ years of experience on both he and his student-gone-rogue. Plus, he's an expert with almost every firearm from the Vietnam war forward.
Punisher didnt waste time mastering every martial art because its impossible to master that many martial arts in one lifetime. punisher focused on mastering the killing moves of every martial art. why? bc punisher is boss.

I’ve watched this so many times over the past years since this has come out. And despite the unfortunate ending I feel like this is probably the best live action red hood we have and are going to get.

+MINI N0TCH I disagree Jason proved that he can keep up with the best of the best, he beat a Talon and almost beat Dick in Battle for the Cowl . he proved that he's one of the best Robins to ever Robin haha. He has some very impressive feats. The reason I said Jason vs Bucky is because they are pretty much the counterparts of each other. Sidekick killed and brought back to life with a vengeance and new training from around the world. It just seemed more balanced IMO

I lean toward experience and experience won the fight. Punisher is a better marksman and they are essentially equal knife fighters. Plus, even though he is a killer, Red Hood was trained to pull his punches for a long time, as a martial artist myself I can tell you it is hard to undo your training. Punisher has been trained to kill his opponent from the beginning. He has a more developed kill response.

So lemme get this right, a man who is an expert in military and guerrilla tactics, strategy, stealth and infiltration expert, special forces training, CQC expert, peak human physical condition and an exceptionally high pain tolerance, means he can beat a man who was trained by Batman so in theory also knows as Batman himself has said every single martial arts and violent fight techniques known to man, so basically everything Punisher knows and more, Ninja stealth techniques so either on the same level or more likely better than Punisher's and expert marksmanship in guns, knives and other weapons loses to the Punisher? yeah bullshit, Jason would've won hands down.

Ok, this is a Batman quote "I've been trained to perfection in every violent art there is." even if that wasn't true 127 is more than Frank's military background. Also Jason wasn't the worst student, he was the most rebellious and violent, so in regards to following orders and being a goody two-shoes, Jason was the worst, but he wasn't the worst Robin. When he came back as Red Hood he wasn't ripping off Punisher he was doing things his way, even when he was Robin he wanted to kill criminals, he might have actually killed a rapist, it was never explicitly stated whether he did or he didn't but it's highly likely. Red Hood's view is you can't beat crime with fear, so he kills them, permanent solution. They have similarities but many differences and Jason is younger, faster and a hell of a lot stronger than depicted in this fight.

Jason Todd is not stupid. He would not try to stab a fucking screwdriver into a bullet proof vest, he would have stabbed Frank in the eye. Not only that, he has his own knives and explosives, if he no longer has guns, he doesn't just decide "Gee, I guess no more gadgets and weapons for me" for the rest of fight. Come on, guys.

In all honesty depending on the type of plating the Punisher is wearing, ceramic plates would have shattered and the screwdriver would have went through the armor. If he was wearing AR500 then that would have been an entirely different story altogether. When it comes to guns even the most unskilled person could have won. Superpowers and guns aren't used the same at all lol.

And in his own comics Todd pulls off head shots like they're nothing. Unless he's partnered with Batman, then he only goes for knees, elbows and feet. My point is that he's a precision shooter. This fight was just poorly done.

Just to put forth a legit argument, Todd would be wearing ceramic armor, why? Because its lightweight and easy to manuver, Frank doesn't just carry a handgun and a shotgun amigo, typically he is used to shooting at armored criminals, his weapon would have some form of armor piercing capability either been a SMG of some sort like he is typically potrayed with or an assult rifle, which would have ended the fight instantly. Frank was ex special forces, he fights villians with super powers but more realistically he takes on multiple gun wielding goons at the same time, I hate how people try and equate Batman to god, batman is simply that a man. In a realistic situation without comic book exaggerations. Frank has better training, Special force operatives typically take on well trained hitmen. Which is all Todd is, but frank has the muscle and size on Todd. That instantly gives him a win. In a realistic situation there is a reason they have weight classes in the MMA because bigger guys win fights. Todd is a martial artist first, and a marksmen second. Frank is a marksmen first and a martial artist second. He has the advantage in both fields.
***** Except that this came down to a hand to hand fight, and it isn't realistic expectations, it's fictional, comic book expectations. Todd should've won this fight as soon as he had the advantage to stab him, because he would've most likely stabbed him in the face once the first strike didn't work.
Also, Batman takes on groups of armed goons all the time, so I'm not sure what the random Batman reference was thrown in for...
This wasn't accurate towards skill it was about votes and most people know the Punisher but don't really know Red Hood.

Jason is physically stronger than Frank and faster, more skilled and also has reinforced bullets that can pierce Deathstroke's armor but Frank has allot more tactical experience. This is not the way this fight would go down...
Jason is not physically stronger... frank and jason are both peak human condition. But Frank is larger (as in height) has much more combat experience and is also not that rebellious. Red Hood pretty much discarded all of Batmans lessons because he became rebellious.
Also frank has better pain resistance and is a better shot based on his education and such. Jason taught himself shooting and batman is not really known to be a good shot. So he wouldn't be able to teach Jason enough.
Jason has two advantages: Martial arts training and dexterity/age advantage.

Punisher is a master strategist and has military tactical prowess (he has really quick thinking that gets him out of veeeeery sticky situations, imagine if he is given time), he has fought individuals ten times more powerful than him, has held his own with several of Marvel’s greatest martial artists (since he has extensive martial arts training on top of his military training), has enhanced trained reflexes, and I think hands down he’s just stronger, the only thing red hood topples on the punisher is speed. Also, he has had military training from the U.S. Navy SEALs, the U.S. Marine Corps, airborne school and even the Australian special air service regimen

i believe punisher would have went a more methodical and tactical route. He's the type to lead you into a trap or have a deep plan with a shit load of resources, with the extreme physical conditioning and accuracy from his years of training. But the Red Hood has advanced hand to hand training from one of the best in the DC universe, batman. He also has unique gadgets with quick thinking tactics he learned from batman to deal with this type of stuff. So I honestly think it's very situational on who sees who coming. Punisher does have more experience and is usually always known for taking on the bigger names, unlike Red Hood who usually is after the small time criminals or lower tier heros. I'd think Punisher has more lethal training rather than Red Hood and his hand to hand training, because we need to remember Batman trained a lot on attacks and defenses that were only meant to knock someone out, where as punisher's tactics are all about eliminating the enemy. We also need to account for Red Hood's preferred methods of combat. As Punisher has been fighting to kill forever and Red Hood is kinda newer to a slaughter method.(depending on which timeline you go with but im keeping it simple). So really I'd say it's up to place and time. Because fighting in the streets or rooftop is leaning towards Red Hood unless Punisher had a good hour to prepare, then it's leaning a lot to Punisher. But if the fight goes towards the jungle or forest at night, then it's way more complicated. Punisher has those extreme survival tactics to make traps that can kill someone and survive in that environment for years on end and Red Hood although highly trained in stealth by batman, he wasn't trained to fight for a long period of time in that type of environment. I think in this video, Punisher wouldn't be as dumb to try to beat him in hand to hand, he'd purposefully take a bit of a beating to either surprise a weapon on him or use the environment around him to his advantage or lead him into a trap. But Red Hood is the hot headed type to keep swinging. Really I do see punisher winning the fight, but not like that because if Punisher did engage Red hood in that manner, he would have lost and he would've seen it coming. Punisher is violent and is nonstop like a train, but he isn't dumb. Red Hood is a hot head, but he's definitely more skilled in physical combat.
I give Punisher a free pass on it, but I have a problem with superhero stories in any medium: They minimize the damage guns do. "Just a flesh wound", or "The bullet passed clean through" is _total BULLSHIT._ You don't get shot and ignore it. You don't keep fighting. In real life, if you get shot in any way, even by small arms, you're on the ground crying and screaming. (_Reservoir Dogs_ did a good job on how bad a gut-shot is.) Even if you're wearing Bat-armor (unless it's vibranium or some other unobtainium), the sheer _impact_ of a gun shot hurts like fuck, and CAN injure you, as in broken bones. Kevlar prevents penetration; it doesn't make you invulnerable. The first _Kick-Ass_ book at least acknowledged it's like a hard punch in the chest.
It's good not to shit your pants at the sight of a gun, but instead of "powering down" superhumans, gunfire should be "powered up" to a REALISTIC level of danger.
(And don't even get me started on Batman miraculously dodging sprays of fully-automatic gunfire from a squadron of police in _Batman: The Dark Knight Returns_!)
If anybody who has been shot disagrees, I want to hear it, but "It's just a movie" or "Don't take things so seriously" is not a convincing argument.
I know people who have been shot wearing sapi carriers (usmc body armor) and walked away without a bruise. I also have read write ups of marines who have taken bullets as well as shrapnel and continued to fight. If you also do some research into police reports there are countless cases of individuals taking bullets and continuing to fight. It all depends on where the round impacts. Another interesting thing is I have heard stories of people who have been shot in the military and would rather get shot than OC sprayed. I have no experience personally taking a round but i did serve 5 years in the Marine Corps and have met people who have and read many write ups on medal of honor recipients.

A cop OC sprayed me once. Totally unexpected and undeserving. I wasn't doing anything illegal, just being stubborn, and when they tried to move me by force (not under arrest), I instinctively struggled. BAM! with the pepper spray! Which I didn't even know about in 1992. Horrible agony. I began sobbing and screaming "HELP! SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP ME!!" But it was at a Morrissey concert, and what the fuck are 20,000 Morrissey fans gonna do against two big cops.
The cops told me they all had to take OC to the face in their training. But, I maintain, the pepper spray you're _not at all_ expecting hurts a lot more than "Okay, this is gonna hurt, but it will be over eventually."
Likewise, military guys who volunteered and trained for service are a lot more ready for the pain and impact of gunshots than unsuspecting civilians. I'm guessing you also know or read about people who _did_ get injured despite body armor.
Agreed, there are also people whose superpower is "the crazy", and they might ignore the pain out of sheer adrenaline or mania.
Armor aside, if the bullet actually penetrates the skin, muscle, nerve tissue, organs, etc., that's going to stop most people. Sure, there are always exceptions. Maybe a lot. But I still think these stories minimize the danger. _Dark Knight Returns_ has a big, thick, 55-year-old Batman running _toward_ the squadron of police firing autos at him. Somehow they all miss him, whereas the crazy clown who just awoke from catatonia tags him easily.

A 9mm wouldn't knock over a man the size of the Punisher. The adrenaline factor weighs in, but mostly I think an arm shot wouldn't slow down Frank just because he's been shot so many times that nothing short of an artery or ligament would slow him down until the adrenaline wore off. Same with a few gut shanks from a screwdriver. Yeah, he'll need surgery from a mob doctor, but gut shots are almost never immediately incapacitating unless they got the aorta.

Punisher is my favorite marvel character but even I can see that there is no way he could take down red hood, he is out trained and he's basically fighting a batman without the fear of killing.
+Archangel760 Red Hood is a bit smaller and lighter. Punisher is bigger and more powerful plus is one of the most dangerous humans in the Marvel Universe. He can keep up and give most of superheroes of Marvel a run for their money. There's even a story where he kills the entire Marvel universe. It's not canon but it shows how smart and tactical he is. The guy is expert in military and guerrilla tactics, marksmanship, close quarters combat, infiltration, and demolitions, & special forces training. This doesn't take anything away from Red Hood or the Bat family but Punisher is also smarter and more seasoned.
