I think not liking Superman or any character really and using the "He's to overpowered" is a stupid excuse because most comic characters are overpowered these days, it doesn't matter how powerful the hero is, the writing is what matters.
No you're the idiot, it doesn't matter how powerful the character is if it's written well, Many of us sane readers argue that Batman is the most overpowered character in DC because the writers abuse his abilities and try to make it out that he can beat anybody (don't give that old BS prep time excuse) either and in doing so they take what makes Batman great... the fact that he's human and they make it meaningless when they make him be able to go toe to toe with anybody, super powered or not, bottom line most characters are overpowered but some are written better then others.

People who call Superman "overpowered" say "He never works for his power" are LITERALLY the same people who praise characters such as Hulk, Green Lantern, Flash, Manhunter, etc. So the problem is not that they think he's "overpowered", it's that they hate him for another reason. A reason that is very clear. Basically, everybody who hates Superman, hates him because he is a genuinely good person, and they try to find stupid reasons when they know that it's not true. Superman is a righteous hero and a white Knight. Batman is a dark, brooding, anti-hero. That is the VERY reason why people like Batman more than him.

The problem is that most(Not all) Superman haters have biased preconceptions of the character, but instead of doing further research and reading his comics, they just flat out avoid the character all together, which just furthers their ignorance of Superman. I think there is a lot going on in the superman concept. He is the midway point between man and god. The divine made manifest. That's a concept that can never get tired.. it represents man's struggle to understand the infinite, the futile attempt to make order out of chaos. He represents optimism, he is the essence of hope, never giving up, always finding the way home. Final Crisis encapsulated this best for me. He is the laughter in the face of death. I grew up on Superman TAS, do I never saw him as too OP. For a while I did question whether the boy scout routine was getting old, but then I saw "What's Funny about Truth, Justice and the American Way?" Jim hit the nail on the head with it. Chaotic Good, the attitude of the 90s antihero, the likes of The Authority; it's easy to be like them, brutal and vindictive. Neutral Good is only slightly less, just look at Spider-Man. Lawful Good? That's hard. It takes restraint, discipline, respect for life and humanity. That's why I love Superman.
I like Superman because he was my childhood superhero before Batman came into me, because with Superman he's idealistic and an immigrant from another planet who lost his parents. Not only does he have powers and abilities, but he has stood challenges that lie ahead.

We know that he spend time learning how to control them but in terms of improving his abilities, it comes about from passively absorbing earth's yellow sun and not from an actual physical effort of working to get stronger. Gokul receives new forms with new colours but we see the process and hardship he used to obtain said form. And even then we are actually given an explanation and shown why it comes about rather than just oh hey guys i can do this now.

You can’t really pit Superman and Batman against one another in a “ranking”. They’re not A-tier heroes, B-tier, or even C,D,E, or F tier. Superman and Batman are what I like to call Creator-Tier. They’re the templates for all other heroes and how all heroes act. Wonder Woman, Spider-Man, Wolverine, and Flash are A-Tier heroes. Green Arrow, Black Widow, War Machine, and Shazam are B-Tier. Daredevil, Batgirl, Cyborg, and Colossus are C-Tier. And so on and so on. But Superman and Batman could never be in any of these categories because all of these characters are somehow connected and influenced by Supes and Bats. That’s why they’re the best.

When I was young, I disliked Superman. I always thought, what's so special about a big super invincible colorful guy!? Over the years I came to realize why. He's called a boy scout. Vanitas Darkness I've tried time and time again to get in to superman but the fact is that there is this impenetrable shield placed around that states he can never be beaten, that is what I can't get behind, he beats everyone and contrary to popular belief batman loses alot of the time, physically and emotionally he has to keep getting up. Superman never stays down for long and almost never has a physical challenge in my eye. hell in hush batman fell and broke every bone in his body and it was a journey just to see him get better. A lot of the reasons I have seen for Superman hate are just idiotic, hypocritical and ignorant. He has every power ever: No he doesn't, he has a good amount, sure but not every power ever. Lets list them. Super strength, super speed, durability, energy absorption, laser vision, telescopic vision, microscopic vision, super hearing, freeze breath, flight, intangibility (via super speed, vibrates super fast like Flash), solar flare. That is 12 powers in total, I honestly think Thor has more powers via Mjolnir then that, Thor at one point could literally time travel, Superman has only been able to do that in one dumb movie. The only time he pulled powers out of his ass was during a sillier age of comics, the same age where Batman had a different colored costume every week. Do you still see Batman in a zebra Batsuit? No? Because times changed, that silly shit went away, Superman has a specific set of powers, he only recently got a new one that is essentially just his heat vision but as an area of effect instead of a straight beam. He doesn't have all the powers and some characters like Martian Manhunter for instance, has all his powers and more. He's too op: Compared to who? DC characters? Nope, pretty much every Flash is faster than him and he's never won a real race with them. Martian Manhunter has made Superman bleed and I have heard Supes fears him. Two separate times I have seen Superman basically tell Captain Marvel that he was the only one who could save the day, in Elseworld stories but that still says something. I also believe that there is one story where the evil version of Captain Atom, Monarch, captures a bunch of alternate reality characters including a number of Supermen, this guy is so powerful he can contain an army of Supermen. Over in Marvel's side, Thor is pretty much his equal, maybe slightly weaker. In the semi canon Avengers vs Justice League, Superman said Thor may have been the single toughest opponent he's faced, this is after Doomsday. Then there are people like Silver Surfer who has been shown to drain energy from things, I recall seeing him drain Hulk of his Gamma radiation, nearly curing him so nothing is stopping SS from depowering Supes and Sentry is a schiziophrenic Superman that can also reality warp. Superman is over powered in the sense that he is extremely powerful...but so are a lot of characters...welcome to fiction, where some people can bench press planets and vacation in black holes...Superman is not unique in this. He's not relatable: How? How is he not relatable? Are you telling me that no one can relate to someone who lives in a place where they are drastically different from everyone else, missed out on a home or culture that they will no longer get to experience, work a 9 to 5 job daily and hell, now Supes has a wife and child, you telling me no one has a wife and son? Meanwhile you have the character he is most often compared to, Batman. Yeah, so relatable, being a billionaire super genius master martial artist jack of all trades just like every one of my buddies. He always wins: Well first off, no he doesn't? There is literally a story called "Death of Superman" that is famous, maybe more infamous these days, that is all about Superman getting the shit kicked out of him, and before that there was apparently a story where he may have died and a sand clone of him took his place, before that who knows how many times he's lost but got back up and won the day in the end. But besides that uhm...what is your point? Its a common thing in fiction, the hero wins. Mario will always beat Bowser, Sonic will always beat Eggman, Batman will always catch the Joker and Superman will always beat Lex. Heroes typically win, sometimes they lose and have to do a round 2, sometimes they lose completely and have to learn to adapt and grow past that loss but most of the time the hero is going to come out on top. Much like everything else on this list, Superman is not unique in the coming out on top thing, I am pretty sure there are a ton of fictional characters who typically win in the end. He shouldn't be challenged by his villains: Hmm, lets see...we have Braniac, one of the most intelligent and technologically advanced beings in the universe and I think they now retconned him into being a multiversal god. We have Lex, one of the smartest men on Earth, people excuse Batman beating Superman with intelligence, why is Lex not allowed to? You have Mr. Myxpitilk, a reality warper. Parasite who can drain Superman dry with just a touch and grow stronger when and if he does. Doomsday who is just as strong as him if not more so and he can adapt to things to make himself even more durable and stronger. Zod, who is the same species as Superman but also has military training so he should actually be more skilled than Superman. Cyborg Superman, same as Zod, has all his powers. Metallo, super powerful robot with a kryptonite heart, the thing that weakens him. Bizzaro, pretty much Cyborg Supes and Zod, has his powers, albeit with some reverse. Darksied, quite literally a god who's main attack can wipe people from existence. Silver Banshee who's scream I believe can typically kill whoever hears it, even Superman. That sounds like some pretty intense shit he's up again, reality warpers, the smartest beings in the universe, godlike beings who can adapt to anything and kill you in one hit? I can see how Superman is challenged by this shit, sounds crazy. He can do anything: This is sorta a repeat of the powers one but I wanted to compare him to Batman with this. People seem to hate Superman because "he can do anything" yet in the same breath they love Batman because he can do anything. As this video points out, people believe Batman has a contingency for everything and sometimes it seems like he does. Why does the normal human Batman get a pass but the actual guy with super powers who is meant to be powerful does not? I thought you hated him because he was unrealistic and it didn't make sense that he was challenged yet you can swallow Batman having trouble with the Joker when later on he'll put on a suit and knock Darksied on his ass, how does that work? Long story short, every 'sin' Superman has, tons of other characters have as well, including the ones he gets compared to often. Some of these flaws you could give to Batman, Goku, Thor, Hulk, Flash, etc. You don't have to like his story, his powers, his design, what ever. You don't have to like him, but if you don't like him because he's 'too op', 'can do everything' or 'he shouldn't be challenged' then you don't know what you are talking about. Plenty of fictional characters are just as, if not more powerful than him, they pull powers out of their asses as well and realistically they shouldn't be challenged given the things they have done. I have seen both Thor and Goku pretty much do things or compete with things that could pretty much imply they have infinite power, yet for some reason they always get a pass where as when Superman does something that is 'infinite', suddenly he is shitty and too op and can't be challenged. They literally had an event where a godlike being is obsessed with Batman and brings out a bunch of edgy Batman ocs that are just evil Batman with other character's abilities and every game, movie and cartoon tends to revolve around Batman or related characters. If they actually gave a shit about Superman they'd actually put their A-Game on him to make his stories work but instead they screw him over. I even saw a video last year where DC was explaining they weren't even sure what to do with Superman in terms of movies and all that and for games we only have Injustice where he's the villain. In no way is DC obsessed with Superman, they have the Bat Dick lodged down their throats so deep they changed their name to his original comic series, Detective Comics.
Why I personally relate to Superman: 1) He's introverted, but not Batman/Wolverine levels e.g. dark brooding loner who's afraid to let others get close to him. He does have a tight friend circle, he does go out, but he also enjoys his alone time and likes to recharge his batteries in his fortress of solitude. 2) He's lonely due to being one of the last if his kind. I am, for example, the only Superman fan in my small friend group... Oddly enough, I'm also the only one that reads comics, go figure. But there are other things I like that are for some reason niche. I don't like football or basketball, but I like Boxing and MMA. I'm also the only person I know with a serious creative streak. It's a genuine feeling of loneliness when something happens in those categories and I don't have anyone to talk to about it. 3) I'm a pretty good guy... Doing the right thing isn't always easy to do, even when it is. And Superman inspires me to do the right thing. 4) I'm also a beast of a man capable of fantastic feats of strength and toughness, and because of my combat capabilities, people are literally safer when I'm around.

I have loved Superman and will always Superman my entire life. He is the ethos of what we could be in this life. “They only lack the light to show them the way, for this reason above all, their capacity for good. I have sent them you…my only son.” Now many don’t know this quote. But it was said in the 1978 film Superman by his father Jor-El played by Marlon Brando. He says this right before sending Kal-El off to earth to escape Krypton before it explodes. This quote sums up what Superman is and what he is about. He is the light, the path to us becoming the best versions of who we are. He is the alpha and omega. The love and the pain of humanity, the prosperity of us all. Superman is more than just a vigilante that fights crime (no offense to Batman at all) he’s more than the one that saves others from danger. He IS the soul of humanity, the hope, the inspiration and love. He is the GOOD that we all possess within us. The life we contain in our hearts, the honor we have to fight the good fight and protect those that cannot protect themselves. Superman isn’t just an “OP” hero that people make him out to be. It isn’t his powers that make him a favorite to us his fans. He’s more than that, he’s an icon. A symbol for something greater out there in the universe and on this planet. He is truly the light we need to show us the way. I will always love him. No matter what. I will be a fan, a follower, and a loyal pupil of whatever story of him comes out. Superman IS the best, the most amazing, and the most incredible character/icon/symbol, ever created in the history of mankind. These are all my own personal opinions. I honestly don't know why I like Superman. I just DO. But if I had to take a guess, it would be because he feels so human even though he has these immense powers. That point of "He's an ideal for humanity to strive towards" is the best reason I can think of for liking the character.
He's the Classic old hero can't see why you don't like him I mean it's ok to like other heros but he's the original so why compare him to anyone else it's comics, plus he's suppose to be overpowered.
I guess the thing is from the outside looking in he appeared very unrelatable to me but hearing a bit more about him I guess as with most superheroes it's mostly about the writers. Some want to only stroke their own egos and be like "LOOK HOW AWESOME BLAH BLUH." but some are actually really good. Hearing someone who does genuinely like superman talk about some of the plotlines really helped me go from just hating him to at the very least having a neutral attitude going in.

He's a great character and all but I think the biggest problem with him is inconsistencies he's a horribly inconsistent character not just from power wise but character standpoint too how many times he was horribly written so many remakes and reboots that stunted his growth consistncies matter too sometimes he is well written and sometimes he's badly written which makes it harder to follow he doesn't have a consistent portrayal I know he's a deep character who has his emotional struggle and he's better than batman bruce himself said that but I think saitama is a better executed character and superhero concept than superman one punch man season 1 was a great take on OP character even better than both hulk and superman it perfectly examined the struggles of godlike heroes/characters in a very realistic way it looked pretty easy and neat saitama seems like a much better done version even saitama himself knows being too OP is boring I know both characters are OP and they fight evil and save people but they still have their lives struggles and such but overall saitama seems like a better executed character with a better and easier concept to follow plus more consistent too

If you liked All-Star Superman, you should Superman: For All Seasons. It's a great book about Superman right when he begins his career. It shows a nice human side as Clark doubts actually being Superman and asking the people closet to him if being Superman is worthwhile for anyone

Amazing video and awesome points! Superman is such an amazing character with lots of depth. His stories can focus on normal day living yet can also take place in vast reaches of the universe with other aliens. Superman stories aren't about him having too much power but instead are about how he will get through a difficult situation while at the same time not compromising his values.

I think not liking Superman or any character really and using the "He's to overpowered" is a stupid excuse because most comic characters are overpowered these days, it doesn't matter how powerful the hero is, the writing is what matters.

The problem is that most(Not all) Superman haters have biased preconceptions of the character, but instead of doing further research and reading his comics, they just flat out avoid the character all together, which just furthers their ignorance of Superman. I think there is a lot going on in the superman concept. He is the midway point between man and god. The divine made manifest. That's a concept that can never get tired.. it represents man's struggle to understand the infinite, the futile attempt to make order out of chaos.
He represents optimism, he is the essence of hope, never giving up, always finding the way home. Final Crisis encapsulated this best for me. He is the laughter in the face of death.

I grew up on Superman TAS, do I never saw him as too OP. For a while I did question whether the boy scout routine was getting old, but then I saw "What's Funny about Truth, Justice and the American Way?" Jim hit the nail on the head with it. Chaotic Good, the attitude of the 90s antihero, the likes of The Authority; it's easy to be like them, brutal and vindictive. Neutral Good is only slightly less, just look at Spider-Man. Lawful Good? That's hard. It takes restraint, discipline, respect for life and humanity. That's why I love Superman.

We know that he spend time learning how to control them but in terms of improving his abilities, it comes about from passively absorbing earth's yellow sun and not from an actual physical effort of working to get stronger.
Gokul receives new forms with new colours but we see the process and hardship he used to obtain said form. And even then we are actually given an explanation and shown why it comes about rather than just oh hey guys i can do this now.

You can’t really pit Superman and Batman against one another in a “ranking”. They’re not A-tier heroes, B-tier, or even C,D,E, or F tier. Superman and Batman are what I like to call Creator-Tier. They’re the templates for all other heroes and how all heroes act. Wonder Woman, Spider-Man, Wolverine, and Flash are A-Tier heroes. Green Arrow, Black Widow, War Machine, and Shazam are B-Tier. Daredevil, Batgirl, Cyborg, and Colossus are C-Tier. And so on and so on. But Superman and Batman could never be in any of these categories because all of these characters are somehow connected and influenced by Supes and Bats.

To all the people who say they cannot relate to Superman because he's "too overpowered," here's something to think about...
if you think about it, Batman is part of the elite one percenters. He has a vast amount of resources and has access to the best training therefore being in peak physical conditions. Basically a rich strongman with traumatic issues. Diana is the heir to the Amazonian throne. The Princess of Themyscera, daughter of Zeus and blessed by the gods. But Clark? He's just a regular guy trying to use his special talents to make the world a better place. Now, who can you relate to more?
Compared to these two, Clark is basically a peasant.
Superman is the Everyman. He's nothing special (unlike Batman and Diana) but he's given special talents just like all of us have our unique talents and skills. It's just up to us on how we want to use those wether to make the world a better place, or not.

When I was young, I disliked Superman. I always thought, what's so special about a big super invincible colorful guy!? Over the years I came to realize why.

Vanitas Darkness I've tried time and time again to get in to superman but the fact is that there is this impenetrable shield placed around that states he can never be beaten, that is what I can't get behind, he beats everyone and contrary to popular belief batman loses alot of the time, physically and emotionally he has to keep getting up. Superman never stays down for long and almost never has a physical challenge in my eye. hell in hush batman fell and broke every bone in his body and it was a journey just to see him get better. A lot of the reasons I have seen for Superman hate are just idiotic, hypocritical and ignorant.
He has every power ever: No he doesn't, he has a good amount, sure but not every power ever. Lets list them. Super strength, super speed, durability, energy absorption, laser vision, telescopic vision, microscopic vision, super hearing, freeze breath, flight, intangibility (via super speed, vibrates super fast like Flash), solar flare. That is 12 powers in total, I honestly think Thor has more powers via Mjolnir then that, Thor at one point could literally time travel, Superman has only been able to do that in one dumb movie. The only time he pulled powers out of his ass was during a sillier age of comics, the same age where Batman had a different colored costume every week. Do you still see Batman in a zebra Batsuit? No? Because times changed, that silly shit went away, Superman has a specific set of powers, he only recently got a new one that is essentially just his heat vision but as an area of effect instead of a straight beam. He doesn't have all the powers and some characters like Martian Manhunter for instance, has all his powers and more.
He's too op: Compared to who? DC characters? Nope, pretty much every Flash is faster than him and he's never won a real race with them. Martian Manhunter has made Superman bleed and I have heard Supes fears him. Two separate times I have seen Superman basically tell Captain Marvel that he was the only one who could save the day, in Elseworld stories but that still says something. I also believe that there is one story where the evil version of Captain Atom, Monarch, captures a bunch of alternate reality characters including a number of Supermen, this guy is so powerful he can contain an army of Supermen. Over in Marvel's side, Thor is pretty much his equal, maybe slightly weaker. In the semi canon Avengers vs Justice League, Superman said Thor may have been the single toughest opponent he's faced, this is after Doomsday. Then there are people like Silver Surfer who has been shown to drain energy from things, I recall seeing him drain Hulk of his Gamma radiation, nearly curing him so nothing is stopping SS from depowering Supes and Sentry is a schiziophrenic Superman that can also reality warp. Superman is over powered in the sense that he is extremely powerful...but so are a lot of characters...welcome to fiction, where some people can bench press planets and vacation in black holes...Superman is not unique in this.

Are you telling me that no one can relate to someone who lives in a place where they are drastically different from everyone else, missed out on a home or culture that they will no longer get to experience, work a 9 to 5 job daily and hell, now Supes has a wife and child, you telling me no one has a wife and son? Well shit, if that is all it takes, I guess I can relate to Arnold Schwarzenegger because we are both human, never mind our life experiences, age, interests and body types, we are both humans so that is all it takes...I guess? I mean, I am not a blind ninja with super senses, but I can relate to Daredevil due to his anger issues, you can relate to people even if they are not a one to one match with you.
He always wins: Well first off, no he doesn't? There is literally a story called "Death of Superman" that is famous, maybe more infamous these days, that is all about Superman getting the shit kicked out of him, and before that there was apparently a story where he may have died and a sand clone of him took his place, before that who knows how many times he's lost but got back up and won the day in the end. But besides that uhm...what is your point? Its a common thing in fiction, the hero wins. Mario will always beat Bowser, Sonic will always beat Eggman, Batman will always catch the Joker and Superman will always beat Lex. Heroes typically win, sometimes they lose and have to do a round 2, sometimes they lose completely and have to learn to adapt and grow past that loss but most of the time the hero is going to come out on top. Much like everything else on this list, Superman is not unique in the coming out on top thing, I am pretty sure there are a ton of fictional characters who typically win in the end.
He shouldn't be challenged by his villains: Hmm, lets see...we have Braniac, one of the most intelligent and technologically advanced beings in the universe and I think they now retconned him into being a multiversal god. We have Lex, one of the smartest men on Earth, people excuse Batman beating Superman with intelligence, why is Lex not allowed to? You have Mr. Myxpitilk, a reality warper. Parasite who can drain Superman dry with just a touch and grow stronger when and if he does. Doomsday who is just as strong as him if not more so and he can adapt to things to make himself even more durable and stronger. Zod, who is the same species as Superman but also has military training so he should actually be more skilled than Superman. Cyborg Superman, same as Zod, has all his powers. Metallo, super powerful robot with a kryptonite heart, the thing that weakens him. Bizzaro, pretty much Cyborg Supes and Zod, has his powers, albeit with some reverse. Darksied, quite literally a god who's main attack can wipe people from existence. Silver Banshee who's scream I believe can typically kill whoever hears it, even Superman. That sounds like some pretty intense shit he's up again, reality warpers, the smartest beings in the universe, godlike beings who can adapt to anything and kill you in one hit? I can see how Superman is challenged by this shit, sounds crazy.
He can do anything: This is sorta a repeat of the powers one but I wanted to compare him to Batman with this. People seem to hate Superman because "he can do anything" yet in the same breath they love Batman because he can do anything. As this video points out, people believe Batman has a contingency for everything and sometimes it seems like he does. Why does the normal human Batman get a pass but the actual guy with super powers who is meant to be powerful does not? I thought you hated him because he was unrealistic and it didn't make sense that he was challenged yet you can swallow Batman having trouble with the Joker when later on he'll put on a suit and knock Darksied on his ass, how does that work?
Long story short, every 'sin' Superman has, tons of other characters have as well, including the ones he gets compared to often. Some of these flaws you could give to Batman, Goku, Thor, Hulk, Flash, etc. You don't have to like his story, his powers, his design, what ever. You don't have to like him, but if you don't like him because he's 'too op', 'can do everything' or 'he shouldn't be challenged' then you don't know what you are talking about. Plenty of fictional characters are just as, if not more powerful than him, they pull powers out of their asses as well and realistically they shouldn't be challenged given the things they have done. I have seen both Thor and Goku pretty much do things or compete with things that could pretty much imply they have infinite power, yet for some reason they always get a pass where as when Superman does something that is 'infinite', suddenly he is shitty and too op and can't be challenged. Fucking Goku shakes the universe with his fists one instance then nearly dies form a laser, don't give me that shit like Superman is the only one who is like that at times. I:

They literally had an event where a godlike being is obsessed with Batman and brings out a bunch of edgy Batman ocs that are just evil Batman with other character's abilities and every game, movie and cartoon tends to revolve around Batman or related characters. If they actually gave a shit about Superman they'd actually put their A-Game on him to make his stories work but instead they screw him over. I even saw a video last year where DC was explaining they weren't even sure what to do with Superman in terms of movies and all that and for games we only have Injustice where he's the villain. In no way is DC obsessed with Superman, they have the Bat Dick lodged down their throats so deep they changed their name to his original comic series, Detective Comics.
Why I personally relate to Superman:
1) He's introverted, but not Batman/Wolverine levels e.g. dark brooding loner who's afraid to let others get close to him. He does have a tight friend circle, he does go out, but he also enjoys his alone time and likes to recharge his batteries in his fortress of solitude.
2) He's lonely due to being one of the last if his kind. I am, for example, the only Superman fan in my small friend group... Oddly enough, I'm also the only one that reads comics, go figure. But there are other things I like that are for some reason niche. I don't like football or basketball, but I like Boxing and MMA. I'm also the only person I know with a serious creative streak. It's a genuine feeling of loneliness when something happens in those categories and I don't have anyone to talk to about it.
3) I'm a pretty good guy... Doing the right thing isn't always easy to do, even when it is. And Superman inspires me to do the right thing.
4) I'm also a beast of a man capable of fantastic feats of strength and toughness, and because of my combat capabilities, people are literally safer when I'm around.

I have loved Superman and will always Superman my entire life. He is the ethos of what we could be in this life.

Now many don’t know this quote. But it was said in the 1978 film Superman by his father Jor-El played by Marlon Brando. He says this right before sending Kal-El off to earth to escape Krypton before it explodes.
This quote sums up what Superman is and what he is about. He is the light, the path to us becoming the best versions of who we are. He is the alpha and omega. The love and the pain of humanity, the prosperity of us all. Superman is more than just a vigilante that fights crime (no offense to Batman at all) he’s more than the one that saves others from danger. He IS the soul of humanity, the hope, the inspiration and love. He is the GOOD that we all possess within us. The life we contain in our hearts, the honor we have to fight the good fight and protect those that cannot protect themselves.
Superman isn’t just an “OP” hero that people make him out to be. It isn’t his powers that make him a favorite to us his fans. He’s more than that, he’s an icon. A symbol for something greater out there in the universe and on this planet. He is truly the light we need to show us the way.
I will always love him. No matter what. I will be a fan, a follower, and a loyal pupil of whatever story of him comes out. Superman IS the best, the most amazing, and the most incredible character/icon/symbol, ever created in the history of mankind. These are all my own personal opinions. I just needed to share this for those that will always defend him as I do when others refuse to understand why we look to the Last Son Of Krypton for hope.

I honestly don't know why I like Superman. I just DO. But if I had to take a guess, it would be because he feels so human even though he has these immense powers. That point of "He's an ideal for humanity to strive towards" is the best reason I can think of for liking the character.
He's the Classic old hero can't see why you don't like him I mean it's ok to like other heros but he's the original so why compare him to anyone else it's comics, plus he's suppose to be overpowered.
I guess the thing is from the outside looking in he appeared very unrelatable to me but hearing a bit more about him I guess as with most superheroes it's mostly about the writers. Some want to only stroke their own egos and be like "LOOK HOW AWESOME BLAH BLUH." but some are actually really good. Hearing someone who does genuinely like superman talk about some of the plotlines really helped me go from just hating him to at the very least having a neutral attitude going in.

For the people who are trying to pull out the overused "Superman is OP" argument, here's a short list of DC Universe characters that are as powerful or more powerful than Superman:
Wonder Woman, Flash, Martian Manhunter, anyone with a Power Ring, Doomsday, Darkseid, Mongul, Mr. Mxyzptlk, Bizarro, Captain Marvel, Shazam, Black Adam, The Spectre, Phantom Stranger, Imperiex, Anti-Monitor, Parallax, Cyborg Superman, Superboy Prime, Orion, any of the New Gods, Michael Demiurgos, Lucifer, Great Evil Beast, the Source...do I need to go on?
***** Wonder Woman took him, along with most of the League down in A League of her Own. Flash has been proven to be faster than him. Cyborg Superman has most of his powers, and then some. And anyone with a power ring has power only limited by their willpower and imagination.

He's a great character and all but I think the biggest problem with him is inconsistencies he's a horribly inconsistent character not just from power wise but character standpoint too how many times he was horribly written so many remakes and reboots that stunted his growth consistncies matter too sometimes he is well written and sometimes he's badly written which makes it harder to follow he doesn't have a consistent portrayal I know he's a deep character who has his emotional struggle and he's better than batman bruce himself said that but I think saitama is a better executed character and superhero concept than superman one punch man season 1 was a great take on OP character even better than both hulk and superman it perfectly examined the struggles of godlike heroes/characters in a very realistic way it looked pretty easy and neat saitama seems like a much better done version even saitama himself knows being too OP is boring I know both characters are OP and they fight evil and save people but they still have their lives struggles and such but overall saitama seems like a better executed character with a better and easier concept to follow plus more consistent too

An anime that ran for a couple years won’t have the same inconsistencies as a 70 year old icon’s story that everyone takes a crack on.
I feel like everyone who hates on Superman has never actually viewed anything Superman related and just hates on the image of Superman, because literally all of the criticisms talking about how “He’s too overpowered, nothing is a threat to him” can be shot down by simply viewing any movie, show, comic or whatever, because literally all of them have things that are a legitimate threat to him in it

Superman harshes on people's angst trips by just existing, so some people can't stand him for that :p
But Superman is very easy to write boring. Since he's so strong just throwing something strong at him makes for a poor story.

Writers always have a hard time writing a good superman comic because they need him to overcome something, which is impossible because all he needs to do is absorb sunlight, he's not a good character by any sense of the imagination, people like Batman and Spiderman because they have limits and because they are more human than superman, people can relate to a billionaire more than a god from outer space, that's how crazy superman is, he can lift entire solar systems, how the hell do you write a story about that?
Superman is more of a slice of life character, he is not about combat most of the time. It's Superman's relationship with the world, his past, and people around him, which makes him interesting.

Superman is more of an ideal, concept or even religion that "everything is gunna be alright" character.He's alright for you, he's alright for me, he's alright for the american government, He's alright for the freedom( westernized version of it atleast), he's alright for the planet, he's alright for the universe.

Reasons why I can relate to Superman.
Superman senses allow him to see and hear suffering all around the world, but he knows he can't stop every bad thing from happening. In the 21st-century we have the same experience every time we turn on the news.
Superman could stop most of the world's problems, but to do that, he would have to push his will upon people, which would alienate him from the world. I can relate to that, but on a much smaller scale. I have friends that have drug problems or mental illnesses. I try to help them, but often I push too far and alienate myself from them, ultimately losing their friendship.
Superman is an alien, but it has been stated many times that he is more human than any of us. I can relate to this since most of my friends are immigrants that came to this country as a young child. They still have their fascinating cultures from their home country, but in many ways they are more American than me.
Superman has a dog and many other pets. I can relate to this since I have a lot of pets, the only difference is that Superman's pets have superpowers.
Clark Kent is a normal dorky guy, and I am a normal dorky guy.
Superman was brought up by a loving family, which taught him their values. I believe even if someone does not have that in their life they can start a family and teach them their values even if that family is not biological.
Superman has a lot of pressure on him, and we've all felt that at times.
Superman has all these amazing superpowers and people think that makes him not relatable, but I believe that makes him more relatable. We have all dreamed of never getting sick, never feeling pain, and flying. Jerry Siegel created Superman from the dreams he had of stopping the bully and getting the girl. Superman is a character that is built of dreams, and I find that incredibly relatable.

I hated superman then I eventually bought all star superman and then I understood why people liked superman I'm no fanboy but try to read a book that isnt trying to test superman's strength and instead his faith and morals now all star superman is like top 5 books for me
If you liked All-Star Superman, you should Superman: For All Seasons. It's a great book about Superman right when he begins his career. It shows a nice human side as Clark doubts actually being Superman and asking the people closet to him if being Superman is worthwhile for anyone

I loved Superman since I was a kid. If you really want to read some good books, then read "Superman Smashes the Klan" and "Superman: Secret Origin".
Batman is my favorite hero but I really like Superman, maybe I don't want to buy novels or comic books about him but I won't go hating on him just because he's not Batman that's just stupid.

It's funny to me how so many hate superman but love goku who alot of his storyline copy superman. The origin is like superman. Goku was rocketed from his home world before it was destroyed seemly the last of his kind. Found and rised by earth people then like superman one day 3 villians come to earth from his home world. goku's brother, vegeta and nappa. Sound like superman to me. Amazing video and awesome points! Superman is such an amazing character with lots of depth. His stories can focus on normal day living yet can also take place in vast reaches of the universe with other aliens. Superman stories aren't about him having too much power but instead are about how he will get through a difficult situation while at the same time not compromising his values.
Now don't get me wrong, I love superman but I love batman more because I like to see regular people overcoming impossible odds. I've never read a superman book until rebirth because the new 52 superman was dark. Rebirth Superman or pre-52 Superman is the one I prefer. He is more of the Superman that everyone can relate to
