Holy crap I'm sweating, I love how Tchaikovsky REALLY gets to the climax and makes everybody excited with it. He's exactly the sound of Russia and does triumphant music like none other romantic composer can do!

I agree. The 4th and 5th are like he is struggling with something and overcoming it. The 6th, however....it's like he struggles a little bit and then gives up and the music just fades away.

..jeeepers! i think i'm sweating with mr gergiev.. Tchaikovsky really knows what he's doing.. it always gets me, the ferocity of the end of the 1st movement followed by that gorgeous beautiful oboe starting the second (played oboe in school it's very difficult lol).. thankyou 🙂

Chaikovsky orchestraition goes beyond the most unimaginable inspiration. This 4th is for me the best of his six symphonies. And I have listened many good versions. This one is outstanding but listen also HR FRANKFURT symphony with Prieto, or Karajan with Berliner Philarmoniker, or Bernstein with Viena Philarmonic. Excellent too.
Thanks for this fabulous pleasure for our souls.

Two guys on flutes? It has to be the old VPO!
As for the work... not even Gergiev on RUclips can compare to seeing this symphony in real life with the horns blaring out the fate motif, although this is certainly a good performance. What is often missed is the tympanist performing almost like a drummer throughout the first movement.

Jesus Christ died and resurrected for remissions of everybody's pre-existing sins to save from eternal hell. Penalty of sin already paid by Jesus Christ on The Cross. Accept HIM. Be saved from eternal hell. Enter heaven. Enjoy heavenly music. For free.
