Kobe Bryant game winner vs Spurs (2002 playoffs - game 4)

- (2002) Wester conference semi-finals game 4: Kobe= 28pts incl the game winner with 5 seconds left.
Kobe Bryant has always been a force in the 4th quarter. He was nothing short of dominant in the final moments of this series.
In the 4th quarter of game 3, he scored 11pts on 5/5 shooting to lead his team to a 2-1 edge over San Antonio.
In this game, he struggled to find a good rythm the entire game but with less than 3 minutes to play. He came alive, hitting two big threes and the game winner after a great rebound with 5 seconds remaining.
Final score: 87-85 L.A with Kobe outscoring the Spurs in the entire 4th 12 to 10 (notice that Kobe matched San Antonio final 12min total in a span of 2:40)
The most underrated game winner in playoff history. That rebound was insane.
Jeffrey Fraler seriously!
@@facelessandnameless yeap
Media does not want to show this because it will ruin their MJ-Lebron GOAT narrative.
@@robertofranciscor.beltran5588 Facts!
Please. Jordan did this like 200 times.
That rebound was insane.. The extension with the LEFT hand..
Kobe = clutchest man alive
Kobe used those other skills when it was necessary which was during clutch time. That makes you better in my book.
Shaq wins these 3 rings without Kobe ??? Shit no . People crazy when they say Kobe got “carried” if u actaully watched the games, u know Kobe was Kobe .
They know
Exactly! Kobe was the go to guy late in games because Shaq was a liability at the free throw line
It's games like this that make me LOL at people who dismiss Kobe's contributions to these 3 Championships as a "sidekick." Sidekicks don't take over like this. Superstars do.
Not a sidekick, but no he doesn't get three championship without Shaq. Kobe was great as well as Shaq was being dominant.
@@josh1667 they needed one another plain and simple
Kobe side kick numbers are pretty close to Lebum as the guy numbers to so Idk haters gonna hate
@@josh1667 Shaq wouldn't get those 3 rings without Kobe
Shaq is and will always be better than Duncan he and Beans rip bruh smh Shaq and Kobe in my top 5
Marv Albert said, "Bruce Bowen has actually done a VERY good job defensively on Kobe Bryant"
Game 1- 20 points (9/18), 4 assists
Game 2- 26 points (12/25), 6 assists, 4 steals
Game 3- 31 points (15/31), 7 assists
Game 4- 28 points (11-27), 7 rebounds
Kobe pwns Bruce Bowen.
Lol! That IS a very good job! Kept him under 30 most nights! It’s playoff Kobe we’re talking about here. 😜 This was meant as a joke but now that I think about it keeping playoff Kobe under 30 is actually a very good job!
Kobe was the closer during the championship years.
Duhhh
Rip to goat Dawn Kobe was the best cold blooded destroy the Spurs I remember that game

wat a ridiculous rebound kobe grabbed
best one i have ever seen
This is one my favorite moments from Kobe's career. The extension to grab that rebound was amazing. One of his great moments, but it gets lost among all his other great moments.
Shaq passed a lot of times the ball to Kobe, he actually liked to play with him...
NBA on NBC needs to come back.
I was at this game.... last game at the dome. I couldn’t stand Kobe when he took over against the spurs .. ... but I LOVE Kobe!
Lol look up the playoff run in 2000 and 2001 if Kobe wasn't there we wouldn't have won a lot of those games. Lakers percentage wise played better with shaq on the bench.. just saying they both were important to the team but don't act like shaq did it himself
+Prince Cyrill: Warriors fan since 2015! Stats are for losers says datruth683
You’re a complete fucking dumbass if you thought the Lakers in 2001 and especially 2000 were better with Shaq or Kobe on the bench or vice versa. They both NEEDED each other to win. The amount of retards that like ur comment proved how brainwashed you conspiracy theorist idiots are.
WHAT A REBOUND!!!
MVP is about favortism. Watch the game. whose closing these games, especially when they play teams like the Spur where Shaq size didn't mean shit!.
MDJ good point. Shaq was dominant nonetheless
KOBE TOOK CARE OF THE WEST & SHAQ TOOK CARE OF THE EAST

though i love no.8 .. i must say as kobe has grown he has been better and better at making better decisions

my favorite kobe play of all time. without a doubt.
Este partido resume mucho lo que kobe fue, después de Jordan el mejor de largo
That rebound was crazy. Yet he lost the ball at the first hand and after the rebound he didn't share the ball with open Shaq under the basket. But the passion in his eyes is unmatchable.
+Furkan Baran Definition of a back hand compliment lol
Furkan Baran I don't think anybody would pass the ball to shaq in the final seconds considering he can't shoot free throws to save his life and he would probably get intentionally fouled
Furkan Baran if he passes the ball its 3 seconds lol. nobody passes in the paint right there and if he did they would’ve fouled Shaq and made him shoot frows
????🙄 3 second violation bro
Smh, the hell are you talking about?
Fun fact: In all of the 5 games they had in these series the Spurs led going to the 4th in all 5 but only won once because of Kobe's 4th quarter heroics and this was the last game the Spurs played in this building and the last shot that went in was a Kobe game winner.
would have been fun fact if it was true...
necyasports Why don't you do some research, you're too young for this.
lol i'm a private collector of 80's & 90's nba games, just GTFO
it seems that the Lakers led 2 times at the beginning of the 4th while the spurs 3 times...what's wrong with people nowadays ?
Kobe was awesome against the western conference teams .. then once they played the finals the east team didn't have any elite big men so obviously you feed the most unstoppable inside force of the modern era
It was moments like these that make it all the more ridiculous when people say, Shaq won those titles, and that Kobe was merely a sidekick. Kobe and Shaq together won those titles, why do people discredit Kobe's contributions?
I was at this game and still remember it like it was yesterday even though i was just 14 at the time but i loved every minute of it haha :)
This is when Kobe began developing an unstoppable and effective iso game.
Began? a couple years late
i like to see Lebron do this vs the Spurs oh that right he can't
theres no need, just bcus ray allen saved one of his ring that doesnt mean lebron dominates the spurs.... 2007 finals(4-0) and 2014( blown out by a record margin)
Dominic dominic When Kobe won rings with Shaq it was "Kobe can't win without Shaq". Then he wins two with Pau and it becomes "He can't win without Shaq or Pau"
*Make up your mind*
And btw OKC was
young, weren't in their primes. Spurs were old, weren't in their primes. See the pattern? The ages of those teams isn't as significant as the fact that they simply *weren't in their primes* . Kobe was straight owning the Spurs' roster when their Stars were in their *prime*
@Dominic dominic idiot brontard spotted
@@anthonythomas4836 Kobe owned the spurs in their primes, but he had yet to enter his prime. They love hating the boy
Hmm well Kobe does have the most dominant player, with possibly the greatest coach of all time, beside that, yeah you have a valid point.
People who say Kobe was carried have no idea what they're talking about. He was a bona fide clutch performer. He struggled in 2004-2005 because of his beef with Shaq/Phil/Malone and then balled out with Lamar Odom as number two and Kwame Brown as number three lmao. Once his team was right again he picked up where he left off.
Also, NBC was so good for the NBA. ABC/ESPN really suck.
Aye...peep 3:51 & look at Kobe's stance after that shot.
Smooooooth
Just amazing. What more can you say?
Shaq won that mvp because they played the New Jersey Nets, where they didn't have anybody to defend a 300 pound 7 footer, but if they don't get past the Dynasty in the making known as the Spur cuz of Kobe there's no championship.
MDJ still would've lost
MDJ I agree . .. kobe destroyed the west teams then once they got to the finals they played east teams who had inferior centers .. you had to play thru shaq tho that's common sense .... I still say the 01 lakers was the 1 year that kobe accepted the robin role and played thru shaq and they just destroyed everyone... it wasn't fair they had kobe and shaq I mean come on

To me Shaq lead 1997-2000. But 2001, 2002, & 2003 Kobe was the better player regular season & playoffs
@@onepiece6529 2001 & 2002 Shaq was still better at both. Kobe didn't take over until 2002-03 season. People forget how great Shaq was in the 2001 playoffs and Regular season. As well as 2002. WCF had the big men Rasheed, Webber, Duncan etc. Kobe was playing against guys like Nick Anderson( Sacramento) Antonio Daniels(San Antonio), Steve Smith(Portland) nobody was double teaming Kobe

Kobe greatest of all time
Kobe hit the boards with the offensive rebound full extension & the put back to win the game on the road
Wow, that is the ultimate Michael Jordan set jumpshot at the 3:49 mark if I ever saw one. It was also wll beyond area code about 4-5 feet outside the top of the key. Not to mention that it was a raindrop of an high archer and a beautiful release and follow through, amazing deep shot.
This is the difference between a clutch Kobe rebound and a clutch JR Smith rebound
and that is how Kobe closed the Alamo done for good because it was the last game in that building.
I hate the spurs more than the Celtics
Ransom Ballard Just like the Spurs closed down the great western forum a few years before 😉
Well you're not wrong, but he's also shown many clutch moments.
Could not agree more. People just look at the Finals' MVP awards and say Shaq was the reason while they fail to look at the matchups.
If there was such thing as a "PLAYOFF MVP," Shaq would have the 1st and Kobe would have the last two from this 3-Peat.
Mama, there goes that man
Can't believe he's gone.
Kobe still better
this is a real game winner not what Demar did these past 2 games
sick rebound
Vintage Spurs home
let us not forget the final minutes of many playoff games were shaq gets fouled out and it is Kobe who closed the games for Lakers
I believe this was the last spurs game ever in the dome. So many memories there.
San Antonio Spurs last game ever played in the alamodome in game 4

R.I.P black mamba what a game against the mvp Tim Duncan
Jason Kidd the true mvp that season.
2:06 "from this young man" about Kobe. feels weird hearing that in the present
It had to hurt the lakers more when the spurs shut down their forum. There's alot of great memories in the forum. Michael Jordan won his 1st nba title there. If you can name a better moment name one
Bruce Bowen has obviously done a very good job defensively on Kobe Bryant black mamba
time stood still for kobe 05 secs
the move @1:03 was so sick even shaq had 2 shake his head
This is an another game Kobe haters don’t believe ever happened.
Man, Kobe had a nice ass hairline
For the record Shaq said it himsef that Kobe was the best player in the world and that without Kobe he would've never won. So saying that Shaq carried Kobe to 3 rings is just stupid. They equally were bringing greatness to the laker franchise.
5:35 oh boy
@csikkmusic .. tru say kobe the greatest player of all time to me tho
The Real G.O.A.T #blackmamba
nice... great playoff run by the lakers.
Coincidence- the Alamodome's last game was in the same year as NBC's last NBA game.
They just seemed to go together
its the alamodome...they actually had to close-off half of the stadium with a curtain because it was so big and in this video there is 40,000 seats available to be sat-in....80,000 total without the curtain
That was the last game ever played at the Alamodome. Kobe shut it down. Had to get the Spurs back for shutting down the Forum in 1999.
The Spurs closed the Forum in 1999 and then Lakers closed the Alamodome in 2002. Simply unbelievable.
Can you please try and upload the 5th game clincher in L.A.??
i never said anything about that,i was just answering ur question,u asked why people call lebron "lechoke" and i answered it with his tendencies to miss a lot of late game free throws and the 2011 nba finals collapse

Best player than james.. more style, more elegance
damn that guy is clutch lol
There was nothin short
R.I.P dawn kobe bryant wearing 8 and 24
i could just be because he's playing at practice speed since he is the best in the game right now and it's not really a challenge anymore(unless he's playing against the celtics).
true....only 3 games come to mind though
What is the problem of struggling in shooting? everyone faces it in playoffs, but keep fighting and get the clutch basket, lechoke pls learn it from the GOAT and kobe
I watched this game back in 02, but don't remember how it ended. Did the Lakers foul or did the Spurs miss the final shot? Anyone remember?
people forget that kobe dominated against the Western Conf. while shaq just beasted the weak eastern conf. bigs
because he wasn't very likeable then (too self centered), or as likeable as shaq was anyway. he's been playing with a smile on his face since gasol came, people like him a lot more now, and particularly after Colorado that is quite an achievement.
Yo they always say five, that 6 the tip against the pacers in their first finals to seal the game... smh!
@TheBrainMachine78 thx!
The lakers owned the spurs in their playoff matchups
2:18 - Harden or Lebron would be flying into the stands and be on the floor for another 5 mins
can someone upload this full game?
No they wouldn't have? Look at all the championships won recently. Lebron had Wade and Bosh, Dirk had Jason Terry and a bunch of solid veterans, Pierce Garnett and Allen had eachother, D Wade had Shaq, Duncan had Ginobili and Parker. Kobes not overrated had at all. Every good team just has more than one superstar, thats how the NBA works......
@dirkiscool108 no, taking into account its a playoff game, game tied, lebron wouldve either a) passed out from the shot b) turn the ball over c) choke like he always does.
