You fellas hit a home run every time. Glad y'all got enough sense to get out The rain. Rock solid. Keep on flying.
Keeping my Air2S with 5 batteries. Yea so I can only get 20 minutes of flight time comfortably but I have so many after market do dads I don’t see it’s worth selling mine and taking a big loss on a drone that can still hold its own against the Air 3 except side avoidance. Love the longer flight time and other features but ahhhh I’m happy with my Air2S . Great Video Ken. You convinced me to keep my Air2S . Thanks
Best Air 3 evaluation I've seen thus far.
I have an Air2S and love it, and then there's my Minis. Now I want one of these Air 3s. Thanks a lot. Wonder if there will be an Air 3 S with two one inch sensors...
But doesn’t the Air 3 have a stacked sensor? Meaning it’s not the same camera as the Mini 3 Pro even though the sensor size is the same.
Exactly it's a 1.7f and stacked sensor. Completely different.
It does.. Just talkin shit for no reason
It's a backlit stacked dual native ISO Complimentary Metal Oxide Semiconductor with 12800 ISO Noise Reduced Night Mode. And yes, the Mini 3 Pro uses the identical sensor. That's why IT is also awesome. You're welcome.
@bassaud3336 It's a backlit stacked dual native ISO Complimentary Metal Oxide Semiconductor with 12800 ISO Noise Reduced Night Mode. And yes, the Mini 3 Pro uses the identical sensor. That's why IT is also awesome. The 1.7 refers to the aperture-not the sensor.
@@BlairAir stop confusing people. It is NOT the same. A stacked sensor is better which is why side by side comparisons to the Mini 3 Pro camera look better.
I really think the Air 3 has a fantastic camera for its price-point and the audience at which it is targeted. Maybe better than we've seen before. The stacked sensor technology paired with the Bayer processing creates for some compelling imagery as well as cool shot composition options with the telephoto camera. However, it does leave a lot to be desired in some areas. I think the Air 3 is a great option for content creators and social media use as well as certain commercial applications, but if you plan on using it for larger production projects or in situations where you need extreme flexibility from the camera, "it's not the guy."
I totally agree with your assessment on the flight characteristics though. Easily the best drone they've produced when it comes to stability-to-size, speed, acceleration, and just overall handling.
Another great video, Ken. Kudos.
Well said, the Air 3 is certainly compelling. That said, I'm leaning towards the Mavic 3 classic🤔, decisions, decisions.
stumbled in here to watch drone vids not knowing I would see something familiar...Nashville is so beautiful and fun in the summer....
I've always thought and still do that the Phantom 4 and 4 2.0 gave me the best night footage.
The Mavic 3 has a 4/3 CMOS... which is CONSIDERABLY larger than the 1/1.3" in the Air3/Mini3... and the camera has a variable aperture, which is also considerably better than the fixed aperture of the Air 3 and Mini 3 Pro
I have the air 2s and the Air 3 and I have to say that the Air 3 is a considerable upgrade... If you can do it!
What do youike better on the air 3 vs the air 2 s?
@@Fly_High_FPVI have both as well and honestly, for my uses, the battery life, improved maneuverability and the low light mode were big winners in my opinion. The camera is marginally better with a stacked sensor as well but they slightly improved on the already great 2S camera so not a big deal for me. Love my 2S but the 3 is awesome for me!
I have the Air 2 and I'm not upgrading for now, it works solid and paired with DaVinci Resolve 18 Studio for Color Grading D-Cinelike footage it's amazing.
I have some drone videos on my channel if you want to see the Air 2 quality.
Well, an interesting comparison, did not try out my Air 3 at night yet, have to find some city place for that with lights but I love the battery life on it and it’s good in the wind, that RC 2 is nice and compact too and really what they’ve done for the price you can’t go wrong. Paid more for my mobile phone than that whole combo kit with RC 2. And for less restrictions in EU, it comes with C1 certification out of the box. Increase in flight time is very good as can explore more and even found a fairy house on my first flight at least it might be. Oh, and I think that using 2/3 cameras for optical zoom with fixed lenses is maybe a cheaper/easier option for them than using one variable optical lens on one camera which I would have liked.
If you think DJI's drones are confusing, try figuring out which remote goes with which drone or which drones are all compatible with which controllers. And if you buy a basic controller to save money in the start, good luck trying to find the correct one to upgrade to.
I think the Air 3's Stacked Sensor is really impressive for the most important of all categories "Drones I Can Afford".
It’s nice to the Phantom 4 Pro make an appearance in an Air 3 video. Great testing guys, there all good drones anymore. Thanks for sharing.
Ken when is the next drone crash compilation coming out. Love them so much!
I have the Air 2 S and absolutely love it. I believe it's the only drone that records in 5.4 K, so I can crop in and still keep 100% of the video quality, even in 4 K. The Air 3 looks great, but I won't buy one.
I have an Air 2s. Bad in lower light, when you compare to other newer drones you start seeing the inferior colour science behind it.
@@bassaud3336 There is always something newer and better. The Air 2 S is more than sufficient for what I do. "Inferior colour science"? You can record in 10 bit d-log and colour grade yourself.
The Air 3 shots look the best surprisingly. Wow.
Good day Good evening
I'm watching from Japan.
From the description of the drone
their conversation is interesting🤣🤣
Thank you for watching in Japan!
🇯🇵👍
The mavic 3 does not have a smaller sensor than the air2s, the main mavic 3 sensor is 4/3” the air2s is only 1”
Ken, I did some still photos of a farm and farm house for a client with the phantom 4 I had and even when zooming on photo with computer or iPad the resolution was still amazing
Phantom 4 pro I should’ve said
This is why my Air 2S went up in price since i bought it. Better camera.
Ahh Ken, you and your newfangled gizmos! DJI can’t tempt me anymore I’m sticking with what I got. Like Arnold said in the last terminator movie “ Old but not obsolete” great video! 👍
Glad the old phantom still hangs with the new guys.
"You're killing your starter" I thought the same until i saw the changes they made to the starter on those vehicles. It went from something slightly bigger than my fist to one the diameter of a Frisby. Also looked brushless and its integrated right onto the crank shaft so no gears. I believe it also acts as a alternator/regen capture.
Wow great video tuturial ibought also dji air 3 because dji air 3 with in come to photography and videography is perfectly the best😍😍
It's pretty dang great! 👍
my P4P is on it's last leg. I just had to replace the camera ribbon and the gimble just isn't the same. Some of the newer Mavics have some features I like, especially with the zoom cameras. I wonder if those could be used with waypoints.
The full size mavics and airs can all do waypoint missions, just have to ditch the dji fly app 👍
Great comparison Ken. One of your Beep (est) videos. 💛
The air 3 looks The best zoomed in imo lol.
Great info. I can’t ever see me getting rid of my Air 2S.
The specs on the c@ck and b@lls seating kinda made me chuckle lol 😂
I think that the air three is really good for night flight in my opinion did a really good job with low light
10:14 I picked the Mavic 3 as the one i liked best.
Low light on the air 3 is beautiful
Inspire 3 has a mechanical shutter for stills, just FYI :P
informative + entertaining! quick rando question: @ 10:00 for the night test, there's a pretty big FOV difference, where the ships pretty far away from each other?
It like the mavic 3 as in looks and share some specs.
Just for kicks, would be interesting to compare the air 2 as well. An entire generation between the 2 drones.
Isn't that what it should be compared to in the first place? Since this is the Air 3 and not air 3s?
I have a very old drone, what I would like to know is can the latest drone record onto vhs tape and if so where do you insert the tape as these newer drones look so small Ken
Awesome. I love my air2s.
I have the Air 2s, with the larger sensor would it be beneficial to keep it even though it's an "older" drone now?
13:12 - The heron on the logo farts out a firefly! :D
Wow, great eyes!!🤣
and yes it has same sensor as the mini 3, and the cmos is better, as its a stacked sensor, so it has better throughput, and more range than the mini 3.
When you are flying and videoing something on one camera are both cameras filming and storing data even if you are only using one camera?
I wish the drone and controller would let you pause the video and start up on the same file without creating a new video file.
I also wish while you are videoing you could press the camera button and take a snapshot while still recording video.
Actually, the Air 3 has a quad bayer sensor, which means that it has better quality, and more dynamic range than the standard sensor of its size, and it captures more information, compared to other drones like the mini 3 pro with the same sensor size
Definitely the Air 2 S came out BEST!!
excellent job!!!! But i still dont know which one to choose if i want to upgrade me Air 1. thanks
Air 3 hands down!
Just got an Air 3 with my tax return. What a great drone so far and I’ve only had it a week. I’m pleased as punch.
Awesome! 👍
Hey ken ! love your videos ! I have a quick question for ya I have a DJI air 3 the video looks incredible out of the drone at 4k 60fps however when I editi it using openshot to H264 codec the video quality takes a substantial hit and I see in your videos including this one the video quality remains great any idea what I might be doing wrong ?
Strange.
I would make sure you have updated codecs on your computer. You could also make sure that your SD card is rated high enough to record 4K. It could also just be your monitor. Not sure.
If I own a DJI Mini 2 SE which is under 249grm. Will I still need to get that tracking device installed onto my drone?
My air 3 is coming next week!! Looking to do aerial pictures\videos of local farms and hopefully grow a small business from there
10:11 the backlit sensor appears to have a lot more width.... which allows for some great Crop in Options for all that Vertical video the kids look at these days..... 😊
“The CMOS size is negligible” when talking about the mavic 3 and air3 this is not even close to true. The air3 has roughly 70mm^2 of surface area on its 1/1.3” sensor, and the mavic 3 has roughly 225mm^2 of surface area on its 4/3” sensor. That means the sensor on the mavic 3 is 3.2x larger than that of the air 3
...precisely, so why oh why did Air 3 look better when the folks zoomed on the skyscrapper?
@@ЮЮЗ-ю4и that’s subjective, and sensor size doesn’t always equate to image quality. Personally I didn’t think the air3 looked better, I thought the mavic 3 had more dynamic range and more detail
@@DylanJones94 at 06:31, do you think it's just sharpening that makes Air 2S top right look better to me?
@@ЮЮЗ-ю4и could be a number of things, we don’t know what resolution and frame rate he was shooting at in each camera, also on the mavic 3 if the aperture was all the way closed really makes the image lose quality.
Difdeedo's..???
How many we talking here?
Great video guys!!
I like all the RED going on. Who's your stylist? Also IMHO...the Air2S had a slightly better image. It's just that when I have been droning lately, all I keep screaming for is the AIR 3's 70mm camera.
Wow great video Ken, Shame you didn't hang around to film the Lightning and work out which drone is better for lightning. I hear the Phantom 5 is comming, Due for release in late 2032
😂
This was the last Air 3 video review I've watched. All the others were OK, but they weren't Heron entertaining. I own the Air 2S since it came out. The reason I am still not sold on this version of the latest and greatest is the result that was more than obvious in this video. Since the Phantom 4 v2 the output hasn't improved drastically. Which is a good thing for me financially. Show me the paint peeling on the building and we'll talk about it.
🤓👍
Hey ken I have the mini 3 pro and was thinking about getting an avata would you recommend the goggles 2 over the integra? Or should I start my FPV journey some other way?
Goggles 2 are great!
Do you think it's better than the autel evo lite plus
Am not a DJI droney but I like the Air2S. But if I had a little bit more $$, I would love to have the bigger DJI but always always will go for a drone that has major flight time and great camera. Can you get one of the bigger DJIs to show. Thank you for the comparisons.
What lights did you have on the drone? That white light was cool along with the green/red
That is built into the drone
The Mavic 3 Enterprise has a mechanical shutter too.
Good comparison vigeo Ken
Hi thank you for doing theses videos I have a MAVIC 2 zoom and I’m going to upgrade right now the air 3 is the top contender I hate all the battery issues I have had and continue to have with the MAVIC 2 batteries always swelling up . Does the Air 3 have any of theses problems do you know? I also had a question about the remote I.D. I’m a hobbyist and I do fly farther then the line of sight sometimes usually over water nothing and no 1 around I live in San Diego California so flying over water is pretty routine is it possible the FAA checks my flight log and send s me a ticket ? I do understand that any civilian can download a app to find the pilot this is a very bad idea someone is going to get hurt anyways thank you again for all you do for our community.
Newer intelligent batteries won't have the swelling up issue.
The FAA does not check flight logs. The only way for you to get in trouble is if someone reports you to the FAA, which is unlikely. Fly safely!
Can't say for sure under normal operations but I have put all three of my Air 3 batteries through five or six full cycles including flying when the temp outside was at or over 100 degrees Fahrenheit with not a single problem. Also, and I would NOT recommend this as a test, I crashed my Air 3 into some shallow water recently. The drone recovered with only some 'battle scars' and a bruised ego. The battery however is shot. It keeps turning itself on and off which makes me worry that it might catch fire. It is currently outside in the open on top of a concrete slab. Sure as hell don't want it in the house or in my vehicle!
Still love my P4P
I Enjoyed this video 😂
Everyone is saying the photos are better on the Air3 regardless of anything, that is fairly important
so, since i have the phantom 3 advanced. What drone would you reccomend?
some 5 inch diy fpv? ;-)
Quality content .
I wish you had time to do the 2s at night also. I do think it would have came up a little lacking there. That would not make me personally uprade from the 2s to air 3. I do think the 2s was better in the daytime , that is pretty much about all I fly anyway. The only thing that would make me want to upgrade would be battery life. That is one thing that sucks on the 2s, definitely not even close to the advertised time. I hate to say it my Mavic Pro had the dame real world battery life as the 2s.
Finial verdict for me know reason to spend out the cash for it now. Maybe in two years when it's "old" tech and i can get a deal.
Could you use waypoint to make each unit go to exact same spot ?
Absolutely
Does the Air 3 have Explorer Mode like in the Mavic 3 so you can switch between camera's while recording?
You can switch between the 24mm and 70mm camera while recording all the time. No Explorer Mode needed. Ken just didn't try it.
Sweet video 👌
I love my phantom but batteries are getting really old, video signal goes out at times...any thoughts on which drone I should get next?
amzn.to/3QxwIts
@@KenHeron $800 wow, thats a good deal.
Definitely going go get the air 3 & you guys are hella funny had me laughing the whole video
Oh great!
You'll love it. Glad you enjoyed the video
Great crack up about old guys lol
the mini 3 sensor isnt stacked
"You're killing your starter' Me with my 2008 Prius: (ʘ o ʘ)
I love you guys,...
Bravo!
The information is incorrect, it's a stacked sensor, it's not the same as the mini 3, it gathers far more light and processes extremely fast, used it in auto mode to hyper lapse a sunrise today.
I heard it was a Robert Stacked sensor. 🤣
@@KenHeron I heard it was a Robert "Rear" Stacked sensor 🤣🤣
😜👍
Guess what else the Phantom 4 Pro can do that the Air 3 can’t?
It can be used with third-party applications like drone deploy and pix4D!
Which, unless you buy something in the enterprise series for around $6000 is the case with all recently released DJI drones!
VERY good point!
Off topic. I was out flying my Mini 2 this morning. I just did a recent update. I know the area well and am aware of the Height of the things around me. Today? I know damn well I was about 600ft before I realized it. What's up with that? It said I was at 325ft. I was flying next to some cliffs. Kinda scary. I have a LOT of low flying aircraft around. Some come down to 350, sometimes 250ft. Stupid Banner Boys in their little Pipers, the occasional rotor jokey screwing around. So where and how high I am is critical to me. Things can go real bad real fast. Even with a little Mini 2. Stay safe boys and girls. Situational Awareness is critical.
One thing no one is talking about, except me, is the 1.25 stop difference between the two lens. So what? Well IF you want to shoot the same ISO and shutter speed and IF you use an ND filter to get the correct exposure and you switch lens your exposure will not be off by 1.25 stops. So you will have to fly back home, adjust your Vari ND filter and fly back out to get your shot. Annoying!
Mavic 3 has a bigger sensor at 4/3 than the Air 3
Interesting that it stops recording on the zoom lens after landing.
Also switches to 1x for RTH. But check this out. You can do Quickshots, Mastershots Hyperlapse all in 3X. Everything works identical on both except Panoramas- no 3X Panoramas
@@BlairAir 👍 That makes sense. No point taking panoramas while zoomed in.
i will say, the air 3 is louder than my air 2, but thats understandable considering the weight and size difference.
Does this have RID built in ?
Indeed it does
You are wrong, sensor is not the same like Mini 3 Pro, it's only the same sensor size. It's a stacked sensor and the same like in the Mini 4 Pro but not like the Mini 3 Pro
My new girlfriend is stacked as well.
@KenHeron 😂😂😂👍👍👍 beside that litttle stacked thing, your review is brillant! after watching, I've ordered the Air 3! @@KenHeron
Oh awesome! ☺️👍
I very much could be wrong but I thought the Mavic 3 was 4/3" not 3/4"... whoopsie-doodle
No, you're definitely right... it's a 4/3" (1.33") so it's way bigger than the .77" sensor in the Air 3.
(4:14) AIR 3 ZOOM LENS 9X - FTW
Not jittery. Nimble and responsive LOL
Even though it has a larger sensor I'm not sure that the p4p will take a better picture. sensors have improved since then. The Phantom's crush blacks and overall have limited dynamic range...
For mapping, the global shutter and compatibility with other apps give the Phantom and unbeatable advantage over most other drones, and all other drones in the same price range.
For everthing including mapping the autel Evo has a distinct advantage over all DJI drones including the P4P... No geofence ♥️
The 'cure' to looking old just as cameras got really good is called AI! Seriously, you could do an entire video as anyone else or even a cartoon character. Give it a try sometime.
Air 3 camera is wayyy better because it has a stacked sensor which gives it better low light than any of them older drones
Air 3 camera is actually better than the 1 inch on the air 2s
RUclips kills so much details that it is hard to see much change on any of them.
I'll pass on the Air 3. RC 2 is the only controller that will fly this drone (as of now). Hanging onto my Mini 3 Pro and RC 1 controller
the air 3 sensor is stacked so its better. Surprized people dont know that. maybe some dont know what a stacked sensor is
My girlfriend is stacked.
2:42 3/4 or 4/3?
4/3 Keith is dislexic.
I wish i afford to buy this
