THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I REALLY LISTENED TO JOE , HE IS A FABULOUS SINGER & PERFORMER, I'M 76 AND AM LUCKY TO HAVE DISCOVERED HIM ,, BETTER LATE THAN NEVER , HIS PRESENCE & PERSONA WOULD LIGHT UP ANY STAGE , & HE SINGS & PLAY FROM THE SOUL, IT SHOWS WHEN HE SMILES & PERFORMS WITH AN ABILITY THAT MOVES PEOPLE EVERYWHERE. KEEP ON SINGING , YOUR A HEALER.
Thank you for the music Joe had the the pleasure to see you In concert in the West Midlands just a massive thank you , a life long ambition met ! Awesome thank you ! I will see you in my dreams
Thanks Joe for great memories. You don't need half naked dancers and flashing lights to entertain an audience. I love your cockney wise cracks and jokes.
Seen Joe a few times in concert & he is a fantastic musician, it's sad to think that the guitar player & double bass player in the video have since passed on, sadly missed Neil Gauntlett & Dave "Rico" Nilo R.I.P.
this performance made me take up the ukulele two and a bit years ago and it was the second best decision I ever made. A wonderful man playing a wonderful song on a wonderful instrument.
With this song Joe Brown put everybody in tears at the end of the Concert for George in 2002. The song is from 1924 (by Isham Jones & Gus Kahn) but was very popular when the Beatles were young boys (near 1950) thanks to a movie with the same name and the title song in hands of Doris Day and Danny Thomas. A good song to practice ukelele with George.
Love your singing and music Joe , l have never seen you in concert , only reason being l live in NZ . But l enjoy seeing you and hearing you sing whenever l can catch you on tv or RUclips 😊
Joe is simply a beautiful human being and thank Godddddddddddddddddd for people like him I say. Luvlee song, beautifully sung and I never get tired of listening to it! :))
I know this has been up for over 9 years now, but I saw Joe last night and he still ends his show with this Brilliant Song and Voice just gets Better, Thanks Joe.
I only saw the Concert for George fully a few months ago, and seeing both Paul McCartney play something & then Joe Brown play this made me buy a Uke and start playing - priceless :-)
Edward Whitwell I heard this played by Ken Tim’s as background music while making a ukulele, now I end up playing it in my ukulele as well. Nice composition of this music and easy to play too.
Edward Whitwell. I was lucky enough to be there that night at the concert for George at the Royal Albert Hall. We actually had free tickets courtesy of Joe himself. He is my dads cousins husbands cousin ( I know it's a tricky one). There were 6 of us together that night. None of us had any idea that Joe was going to sing this. But there was not a dry eye amongst us. Thank you Joe, it was a great fitting tribute to George
I've seen Joe a few times and I never tire of his performances a great and natural entertainer, always a warm welcome awaits in the Northeast of England...well done Joe n Bruvvers !
This is Joe with the classic line up of 4 who played together for 20 years. They were absolutely fantastic. Still can't belive Dave and Neil are no longer with us.
This used to be the Last Waltz at the Tower Ballroom New Brighton when I was a teenager 70+ years ago. Love it and now we have youtube I can play it anytime
I know I'm being a picky bugger, but there's no way you can play this in 3/4 time without it being ridiculous. So Last Dance it may have been: Last Waltz it wasn't. Yeah, I know......It's a beautiful song, so who gives a shit what you danced to it. You probably got lucky anyway B-) .
My Dad's favourite song - Burma Star man born 1925, he left us in June 2020 (something about old age took him). I just saw him in my dreams. Thanks Joe for this beautiful version.
Just came back here for a listen to Joe , and it may be as good a time as any to remember Joe's loyal soldiers who have passed since this, Neil Gauntlett Dave "Rico" Nilo , RIP both great musicians , remembering you today for the pleasure you both gave us. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Have just returned from Joe's concert in Bournemouth and this song was his finale. Brought a ear to my eye for some odd reason. Beautiful and what a guy.
Joe is a national institution and a great entertainer. Seen him live a few times recently and he never fails to deliver and his glowing smile shows he loves what he does. A true great.
My kids bought me a ukulele a couple of Christmases ago; the first thing I learned from scratch was this. Lots of sweating and swearing, many hours of trying, but it was worth every rude word...
I found this on 12th September 2021, the day after the 20th anniversary memorials to the Twin Towers disasters. Bruce Springsteen sang this song, and to be honest, it was a bit grim, I think he's nearing his sell by date. However, many people commented that the Joe Brown version was the best, so I came here to You Tube to check it out, and gosh, where those people so right! It's beautiful, and I can understand why so many people play it at funerals. Joe's singing is so clear and effortless. Out of curiosity, I just checked and Joe is 80 years old now; I hope he's still making music.
Joe,you and Marty are true British treasures. Saw you in Charlie Girl with Dame Anna Neagle when I was around 12 years of age. Loved you ever since! God bless.
shirley lane . Oh my god this just gets spookier. I've just replied to someone who was at the same gig in shanklin, I.O.W 5 years ago. But now you have appeared. I saw that too, my mum 'dragged' me along. Apparently Joe brown is some sort of relation. My late dads, cousins, husbands, cousin....yeah a bit of a loose relationship I know 😀 but anyway, yes I too saw Charlie girl. It was in 1966 (it actually opened in 1965) when I was just 8. For some reason I always thought it was at the Victoria palace, but I've just checked & it was the Adelphi theatre. Somewhere in the attic I am sure I probably still have the program. Gathering dust with a lot of other junk/stuff. But you have just brought back some long forgotten memories. Not really of the show, but seeing the bright lights at night in the west end. Ah lovely days! & thanks for reminding me Shirley. Best wishes Steve
Joe Brown I'm sure would be pleased with the comments here. I'll bet that Isham Jones and Gus Kahn who wrote this song in 1924 would also be pleased. There are at least 20 versions of the song over the years now listed and available on RUclips. The version by Joe Brown was no doubt inspired by Cliff Edwards (Ukulele Ike and the voice of Jiminy Cricket.) It's still a great song nearly 100 years later.
@@s.d.haddock1678 Thank you. Isham Jones wrote the music, Gus Kahn wrote the lyric. Isham is pronounced Eyeshum. They each have a Wikipedia page if you want to know more.
We saw him last night in Eastbourne - he was excellent - great rapport with the audience. Really good band and his son is so talented too. Thank you Joe Brown legend
Sweet Beatle lullaby. We're all part of this terrific Beatles family! I've been to London -- & I don't even hold a grudge about that damn Revolutionary War thing back in the late 1700s along the New England area of what became the U.S.A. Love the Brits! * Cav *
Wonderful post!!! First became aquainted with Joe Brown with the Concert for George.......what an incredible finale! That performance and Joe caused me to buy my first Uke! Glad to see the performance, glad to learn the uke, glad to find this Joe Brown and the Bruwers post! Thanxs greatly!!!

My grandma and grandad loved this song and went to go see joe when they were quite young. He died on monday night and i saw him on sunday. That sunday night my grandma and grandad sat on his bed and sung this together. When he was rushed into hospital and my family were all saying thier goodbyes my grandma was last, she was speaking to him and the last thing she said was ill see you in my dreams and then kissed him as he slipped away. I'll love you forever and ever grandpa! :'( xoxox

Sometimes an artist takes a song and it his own - just what Joe has done with this.
Yes, it's an American song that's almost 100 years old, and has been recorded by many artists, but this is my favourite version.
So well said. ❤️
What a great song. So sad and poignant.
For someone I loved and lost.
Have heard so many versions of this and Joe's is by far the best, especially live ❤
Español
This song elevates me to tears every time I hear it xx
Agree
Thanks Joe for great memories. You don't need half naked dancers and flashing lights to entertain an audience. I love your cockney wise cracks and jokes.

you are so blessed!
Timeless classic beautifully done by timeless artists. Well done Joe, and your Bruvvers.
This song now haunts me every single day. If I'm not listen to it it's still plays in my head. Thank you Joe Brown.
Seen Joe a few times in concert & he is a fantastic musician, it's sad to think that the guitar player & double bass player in the video have since passed on, sadly missed Neil Gauntlett & Dave "Rico" Nilo R.I.P.
It just adds to the emotion of this performance now which was only a year before they passed away
Wow . I didn’t know that …. What a great song and performance
this performance made me take up the ukulele two and a bit years ago and it was the second best decision I ever made.
A wonderful man playing a wonderful song on a wonderful instrument.
So, how are you doing in Oct 2021?? Any concerts yet?
Joe is a British Icon.
Went to a recording of Celebrity Squares for TV, and Joe was on and came up to chat to us.
He's a lovely talented guy.

Whoever saw Joe perform at the 'Concert for George' can't fail to be moved to tears when he sings this. 💙
Totally agree. Brings tears
Danced with my mum to this who sadly passed away..just a lovely song
I am crying my eyes out. I don't know whether I am just very moved by the song or clinically depressed
n136h. I think if people are not moved by this song, they must have hearts of stone. Fortunately we are among those that don't
Same here.
me too
The last words my dad said to my mom.He plays this song all the time! Thank you, Joe!
Rest in peace, George Harrison. You saved my sorry adolescence.
Joe is simply a beautiful human being and thank Godddddddddddddddddd for people like him I say. Luvlee song, beautifully sung and I never get tired of listening to it! :))

This is Joe's signature song now really isn't it? lovely song-great chord structure and tear inducing sentiment.
Beautiful song, great smile nice bloke. Well chuffed to see this :-)
Lovely memories of seeing Joe and his mates, DAVE & NEIL, so miss them, so sad the two had to be lost to cancer so young. Phil still going strong 💕💕
Joe is so underrated.
His versions always make me cry. There's such love and longing and loss in those lyrics and his voice is so full of hope:-)
This guy has such a wonderful smile...really nice singer...delicious song!!
As only Joe Brown and The Bruvvers could do.
I always come back to this when I want to think about my memories. Great!
How could you not cry for all your love ones you miss so much? It's very lovely and touching. Thanks.
Lovely to listen to brilliant Joe Brown
Absolutely brilliant... Great Showman, great guitarist. I know how difficult it is to get that sort of precision out of a baby mandolin !!!
You can call it an Ukulele
I only saw the Concert for George fully a few months ago, and seeing both Paul McCartney play something & then Joe Brown play this made me buy a Uke and start playing - priceless :-)

Beautiful. Arise Sir Joe Brown, why not. Given decades of pure pleasure to the public. He deserves it.

I never get tired of this, and I watch it over and over again . I watched it frequently on RUclips and recommend to friends.
It makes me cry of emotion and remember all the people we have loved. Thanks mr brown for this marvellous interpretation!!! Fred

Shakey Pitt actually you can split it in to 3/4. If you can split 3 subdivided notes into each beat, you can turn it into 3/4.
Love that face love that smile love Jb and his music. ELAINE 85 yes.
AWESOME!

Amazing re-issue of a old jazz song. Also a great mastering work, can be heard absolutely clear lower frequencies of bass
