That Chateau has been repossessed by the town's mayor. It was purchased some years ago but the owner failed to meet the town's stipulations, and the Mayor recently repossessed the property. It was going back on the market. Perhaps Interview the mayor for an update.
I hope each different building is offered for sale. Individual ownership of the different buildings is the way to get that Chateau complex renovated. If some buildings are attached ( say, a workshop & bakery), they could be sold that way, just like townhouses are made.
The Mairie has just purchased this chateau for 100 euros ! Partly from the 11th century, they are going to 'secure' the building to stop further damage. Not quite sure what they could do with such a building as everything has to be re created from scratch. Amazing property thank you for the visit.
They will not be able to do anything! As way over any expense they can fork out. Secure the property to await some very rich person or hotel chain that will buy it and agree to bring it back. The Mairie will not have to pay tax on it. Or rates. So will stay as it is until they can make their money.
Anna and Peter, you’ve really out done yourselves with this video! Anna, what a great find! Peter, your narrative is spectacular! Your voice comes across that you are in awe of everything you see! You describe everything so wonderfully that I’m on the edge of my seat waiting for the next wonderful discovery! Well done and thank you both!
Even if you left the chateau a ruin, the out buildings could be turned into usable housing with a shared courtyard and park. I'd live there in a heart beat!
I feel sad when I see so many grand old homes just wasting away. 😢 I love old homes they have that live in and loved feel. How wonderful it would be to have a bottomless pocketbook to bring one of these places back to life!
If you look on line, (and you probably have!) The chateau has recently been bought by the town in the center of which it sits, for a modest token sum of 100 euros. It was previously owned by a Canadian conglomerative that intended to rehabilitate it into an hotel, 20 years ago, and then abandoned those plans. So the town plans to prevent further degradation only, secure and clean it up so that it would become more attractive and possibly a visitable ruin. A 10-year plan is in the works. What will become of the “dépendances “ is anyone’s guess, but the whole thing sits next to a golf course, so……..?
Must of been glorious back in the day. If only someone could rescue it. Think I'll do a euromillions lottery line for Friday might be lucky. Thanks again Peter and Anna for showing us around. Xx
Inheritance tax in France came crippling and many families inherit property that they simply don’t have the means to renovate, in addition having to pay the local taxes on a property of this size over many years whilst trying to sell it make it even harder.
Oh Wow just so sad to see such a beautiful Chateau in this state. I hope someone buys her soon. Peter and Anna thank you for sharing such an amazing adventure you had, parts of the world we couldn't see if it wasn't for your wandering adventurous spirit. Take of each other, lots of love.xx 😊
This was your best castle find to date. Thanks to Anna - and Peter for your patient videography. I wonder if that whole courtyard is cobbled. It must be or it would be overgrown with brush and trees. Less than 20 yrs from now will have been abandoned for a century. The roof alone would be a fortune to fix. It's not lost on me that these grand places were financed by taxation of the poorest citizens. I wonder if visitors would pay to visit such a place if it was set up as a "working farm" like Gettysburg has been? Such a place would employ a lot of people.
@It's a Wonderful Life 😉 I was thinking French village life from 16?? to 1940. A phone ap could bridge the language barrier as the visitor wanders through the chateau grounds enjoying demonstrations of daily activity. ❤️
Was thinking the same thing RT3…a great way to introduce the workings of the whole of the ‘farm life’…..stables, sheep, dyeing/spinning their wool, a real bakery, smithery are just a few examples. Artisans could set up their shops! Makes me think there was a waterwheel perhaps for stone grinding the wheat for flour in the bakery? Tradesmen could be apprenticed here. The Château for art shows, concerts, speakers to explain the daily life. Cafe in the small courtyard overlooking the water! Think you Peter and Anna used to live in this era in another life. Thanks for the share, the sound effects & the narration! Exquisite even in its ruins!
Wouldn’t it be fabulous to be transported back to a time when the Chateau was at its height of grandeur and be able to live a day or a week in that period.
Thank you for taking us in your adventures, this chateau reminds so much of beauty and the beast, if only someone could fall in love with it and break the spell
The sounds of the birds and forest and rushing water ...the outbuildings & at the end a (somewhat crumbling) fairy~tale castle with its own moat ...fantastical!! What was the story where the castle and all its inhabitants went to sleep for a century? Sleeping Beauty? You could film a movie version of this fairy tale right here!
Peter I love your narrations , such a lovely voice. Anna you found a beautiful château to share with us all. It would take a small fortune to bring this property back to what it might have been in its glory days. Seeing the horse stable now And thinking how it must have been in the past made me sad. Love the horse sounds Peter, a nice bonus. I can imagine how busy life must have been here. Just a beautiful property. Thank you for sharing another maxing find with us. Have a super weekend coming up. ❤❤❤
Amazing! Too bad y’all couldn’t get inside the main chateau! If the servants quarters and animal stable is that posh, I can imagine what it looked like, hopefully someone will come along and restore it. So gorgeous. Hugs, love, and lots of prayers from Texas!
What a beautiful and amazing Chateau. Shame you couldn't go in to the castle part. The surrounding buildings are very nice. Thank you so much for sharing the sightseeing tour. Love and Blessings. Doris, Penrith 🇦🇺🦘 ❤❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏🙏
That was a fantastic way to start my day!!! Thank you so much for the lovely tour of that gorgeous Chateau Peter! Anna, you managed to find a real beauty this time! Oh how I wish I was 30 years younger and able to take this one on....superb!
So sad it has gone to such wreck and ruin. I love the appreciation you have for the architecture and the finishing's in these buildings it's a shame one can't use what is good but alas others have obviously done the same and it has just been vandalized then abandoned.
Beautiful video, amazing historical treasure. Sad the vandals ran amok throughout the buildings. It must have been owned by a wealthy family .. I would love to know about the history of this place .. and how it befallen into disrepair. Cute, adding the musings of a whiney of a bygone horse ..
Oh wow how glorious would that have been in its hey day ! A great find - nice to read something is going to be done with it and thank you for sharing ❤
Wow, that's an amazing chateau! Imagine what it would have looked like in its heyday. Loved the sound effects. Made it feel as if I was there when it was first inhabited. Thank you for the tour!
So great a presentation. Although it makes me really sad to see this it just could’ve been awesome for some one to redo and we could watch what a disappointment in people that just don’t realize what real art is. Thanks for sharing.❤❤❤🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🏰
What a spectacular chateau! Those outbuildings are amazing, and they look to be structurally sound! It's a pity you couldn't get into the main chateau, because it would have been incredible. I do enjoy your narration, Peter, you bring things to life so well. Anna, I cracked up when you blamed the wind for your mess "charlady" house! And with a deadpan face! Big hugs xx
What an amazing find. Just think want this chateau was like when up and running. Full of people and animals. It must have been wonderful. Such a shame to been just left but the upkeep must have been enormous . Wonder when it was last lived in.
Wow this is an amazing vlog. Photographer brilliant. Narration absolutely wonderful with sound effects. Thanks Peter and Miss Anna for the entertainment
Wow. Huge huge. Outbldg square. Very interesting . I thought ud see. Squatters. But. NO. IT NEEDS ALOT OF CLEANING OUT AND REPAIRS IN THE OUTBLDGS... BIG B N B????
Truly Amazing I can't thank you enough I so enjoyed this ...I watch so many abandoned homes this was the best by far . So sad but you can just imagine how Stunning this was .Downton Abbey eat your heart out ...Thankyou both wonderful xx
Peter & Anna!!! OMG!!! This was a AMAZING find!!! Just wow on the outbuildings alone! Yes, pity you couldn't get over to the actual Chateau. But really, no matter. My imagination was just running wild on how life would have been there when it was first built. I am sure it was phenomenal!!
I Googled the former owner. So sad that he was president of a history society in Bruges, yet let this glorious pile go to ruin. I hope you can find a way to get to the chateau.
What a terrific video! We like all your videos but some are extra special, like this one. What a great find. It’s wonderful to explore with you, but also to have the benefit of your narration - explaining the architectural details and how the various rooms and equipment were used. Thanks for your adventuresome spirit and knowledgeable explanations.
Thank you both again, for showing us another stunning chateau. The stables and servants accommodation could be turned into beautiful homes around that incredible beautiful courtyard. Its nice to read that the local town hall have purchased the property and hopefully bring it back to its original grandure.
What an amazing place. a real fairy tale castle and the outbuildings were like a ,major chateau all by themselves It is such a tragedy these places are falling into irrecoverable ruins but I suppose inevitable sadly, such buildings cant function economically in the modern world
Thank you for a fantastic vlog. You did a wonderful job filming and the atmosphere. Thank you no music just the atmosphere and birds. Love to know more about the Chateau and who had it built. 🍷🍷🇬🇧🇬🇧
Just WOW!! As someone has said below, would make beautiful and luxurious living accomodation with the ruined chateau in the background and glorious parklands as your garden (and lots of staff for the upkeep!) thank you both for taking us 😊💜
Brilliant! Loved the horse clip clop and neighing sounds and you talking to them, it really brought it back to life. More of this please 😍 Beautiful chateau, thank you for doing a tour!
What a stunning find ,and the out buildings not to bad a nick. What a shame you was unable to get to the chateau the architecture was beautiful. Do you know anything about the history of it Anna and Peter it would be very interesting how old and who had owned it. Yet again another chateau gone to ruin. I hope someone buys it and restores such a stunning property. Thankyou Anna and Peter for the tour, loved it😘👋x
Wow! Incredible find! Unbelievable that so many things are in such great shape, considering that it looks like this remarkable chateau was abandoned a very long time ago. Great narration and I loved the sound effects. Is there an Anna Cam video?? If not, there should be for times like this when you separate. You could do What He Saw and What She Saw perspectives. 😊
HUGE property, needs a fortune to breathe life into it. Maybe a hotel chain because it needs a team or two to straighten out this mammoth estate. It boggles the imagination, but I LOVE it just the same.😅

If some buildings are attached ( say, a workshop & bakery), they could be sold that way, just like townhouses are made.
That's beautiful I hope someone will fix it up
What a place that needs saving! A ferry tale
The Mairie has just purchased this chateau for 100 euros ! Partly from the 11th century, they are going to 'secure' the building to stop further damage. Not quite sure what they could do with such a building as everything has to be re created from scratch. Amazing property thank you for the visit.

Oh to have unlimited wealth to restore this beauty.
What a fairytale chateau.....so sad to see her in such dire condition. Maybe her luck will turn and someone will take her under their wings! Cheers!
Even if you left the chateau a ruin, the out buildings could be turned into usable housing with a shared courtyard and park. I'd live there in a heart beat!

So Sad ……. these Beauties Should Be ….. Lived In ….. Loved …… Thank You For Taking Us On Your Adventure ……❤️
Great filming, with carriage and horse sound effects!!ha! Ha! That was once a lovely big bustling place.
What a beauty!......so sad to see it in ruin 😢 ..... loved your editing with the horse effects!
Holy cow! The potential is off the charts. What a gorgeous chateau.
Peter is so knowledgeable and his relaxed and informative narration style makes every tour so interesting to watch. Thank you!
I appreciate you sharing your explore for such an historic chateau. Our imagination is ignited with each room. From Dallas Texas
I can only imagine how beautiful it was years ago! What a find miss Anna! 😊
Must of been glorious back in the day. If only someone could rescue it. Think I'll do a euromillions lottery line for Friday might be lucky. Thanks again Peter and Anna for showing us around. Xx
The shelves of troughs could be for storing apples. At West Dean Gardens in Sussex they have a round apple store that has shelves like that.
Interesting a domed stone entrance but then door made rectangular so appears like a rounded door… stunning

An absolutely stunning adventure. Thank you

As an equestrian I was in awe of the stable, those stalls were impressive to say the least !

I felt the urge to get in there and clean up the mess. I hope someone buys and restores it
