This handgun freeze or whatever you want to call it is useless and has had exactly zero impact on violence-based gun related crime. The same sentiment applies to the OIC banning ‘military style’ or ‘assault’ firearms. Zero impact on crimes involving these firearm types. Crimes involving these banned firearms are virtually non existent. Not since the Quebec shooting in 1989, carried out by a lunatic before our current rigorous screening and background check programs, has any mass shooting occurred by a LAWFUL firearms owner with a LAWFUL Canadian owned firearm.
