- Trying something new. We've all done Q&A Videos, but this time Im asking the questions... Answer them in the comments! Im also giving away some film and disposable cameras!! Thanks for Watching!
- Хобби
What was the question again?
OH, COME ON DEREK! GET WITH THE PROGRAM!
Question 5: my guess is October 2009 for the film and July 2010 for the disposables!
Question 3 - I have a go too for sure but still like shooting around
Good to see you back my man!!
Oh and happy to see you back!
thanks so much!! Glad to be getting back into the swing of things!
Question 5 - fujifilm Pro 160S 06/2007 and 07/2012 for the cameras
Question 2: Community zine and possibly vote on the photos. I think the 1st Zine should be instant photos because that’s something EVERYONE loves.
I think a community zine with instant photos is a really cool idea!
I like it! Instant Vol 1 coming right up!!
Questions 1: I hang out at Live Photo walks and meetups. There is something so much more rewarding for me to be able to see and be with the people behind the camera in person instead of behind a screen.
Agreeeeee 110%, nothing beats a real life meet up
@@AwesomeCameras Nothing gets me going like watching someone pull up in a beat up car while wearing a $2000 camera around their neck. *goals*
Q1: I usually use discord, though I get what you were saying about it, and I usually only talk with my close friends. For more public discussion, I think Reddit would be your best bet.
And suggestions for subreddits?
@@AwesomeCameras r/analog
Question 2: a community zone would be awesome. Monthly themes and challenges would be fun.
That's what I'm thinking!
Q5: My guesses are April 2008 for the film and October 2011 for the cameras.
Q2: I would totally be in for a zine! I surely have enough shots to match a lot of themes.
👌👌 stay tuned for zine info!
now im in youtube and in reddit, there are many great photographers and ideas and pics to know and talk
Question 2 - I feel likes it’s hard to do something like when everyone is not together. Maybe a online showcase?
Someone else suggested making a discord for us all to collaborate on a zine
Welcome back
Thanks!
Question #2 - I think a community zine is a fantastic idea! We should create a discord and in that discord we can vote on a topic for the zine. Also, within the discord we can post and vote on photos for the zine. Its a good way to keep everyone engaged in the whole process.
Thats actually a great idea! that sounds like the perfect use for a discord!! I'll figure that out and get it set up by the follow up to this video.
@@AwesomeCameras awesome! Cant wait. Let me know if you need any help 🤘🏻
Question 1: Facebook/RUclips/Reddit and I refuse to use discord for any sort of community. It was made for voice chatting in video games with friends across platforms originally.
Thats what I thought for discord. It just seems like such a closed off community. Seems hard to foster inclusivity there...
Q4: Though I haven’t discovered him lately, I still think Martin Henson is one of the greatest photographers of our time and is well worth a look.
Added to my list of photographers to check out...
Q3: I almost exclusively use Fomapan 100 right now. It really shoots well at pretty much any ASA from 50-3200.
That's one of the films I have yet to try. What is do you usually rate it at?
@@AwesomeCameras I usually shoot it at 100
Question 5: random guess but I’ll guess they expires July of 2009
Question 5:
Exp. 09/2010
Question 5: I would say 03/1845
Q2: I would love to contribute to a community zine if possible!
Q3: fav film is whatever is cheap, currently a massive brick of Kodak colorplus that I bought for a dollar per roll in 2019. I’ll prob switch to Arista or Ilford once I run out because Kodak is too expensive now.
2. Noted!
3. I've shot Arista 400 since I was a student. I love bulk loading 100ft rolls :)
Question 4 - Richard Rothman I got their book 📖
Added to my list :)
Question 5: Fuji Pro expired in 2006 and the Kodak disposables 2010.
Q3: I love use only one BW film. Because my dad use that film in past and that is ilford HP5. I love that grain and all about that film.
That's been my go to lately. But I do love some Kodak tmax 3200
@@AwesomeCameras In my country, they don't have any. I'm will try to order online soon and try it.
Question 3: Fuji Pro 400H was my goto stock for colour, I haven’t found a replacement yet. JCH 400 street pan has been my Favorite black and white for a long time, with Double XX as a backup.
I did shoot a couple rolls of JCH back when it was released. I need to get my hands on some more of it!
Question 3: When i first started shooting film, i jumped around many many film stocks. But now I just like to stick to one or two. So my photos would be more consistent.
Question 5: 09/2014
Q3: I really jump around to try it all, but do stock up more of specific films. Superia 1600 was my main color 35mm film and thankfully I got a brick before it was discontinued. That’s all I shoot in 35mm now. In 120 I stock up more of the Lomochrome films, HP5, Delta 3200. But have been picking up a bit of whatever’s come along like Gold and pre-ordered Lomo turquoise and Cinestill 400D. I don’t really see myself sticking with just a few 120 films.
Questions 3: I shoot anything CVS gives me.
Sooo Fuji? Ahem, I mean Kodak 200 ...
@@AwesomeCameras If it's in a canister and I can tell people I shoot film, I'm happy. 😀
Ben Horn is my new favorite
Q1- I'm not into a ton of discussion or interaction really but when I do I guess it is on Facebook groups. Almost hate to admit it maybe I'm too old, but I just don't know very much about Reddit or discord servers
Question 4: I stumbled across this great landscape photographer named Ansel Adams but I can’t seem to find his instagram.
Never heard of him, I'll have to check Google to see if I can find anything
Question 1 - Discord it’s honestly fun if you get people using it
yeah, that seems like the hard part. Most of the channels ive joined just have 5-10 people and it gets a little stale if you done know all of most of them...
@@AwesomeCameras yeah I feel the same way it’s hard to get a community that is constantly engaging and encouraging. Maybe a meet up / photo walk?
Q5: Exp. date is October 6, 2002.
Q1: Instagram
Woah, forgot I was subbed. Missed this channel! Kind of great timing, have fallen out of photography but moving into a much cheaper place soon and was considering getting back into it.
Question 4:
Irving Penn, actually discovered him in a comment thread of a subreddit (not photography related). His work/book "Small Trades" was being discussed. Here's a description of it:
"In 1950, Vogue assigned Penn to photograph workers in Paris, and thus his monumental work The Small Trades began. Created in 1950 and 1951 in Paris, London, and New York, The Small Trades consists of portraits of skilled tradespeople dressed in their work clothes and carrying the tools of their respective trades. Capturing the humble coal heaver and the crisply dressed waiter with equal directness, Penn’s arresting portraits also underscore fascinating cultural differences."
Awesome! just looked up that book. its a little pricey. Im gonna see if I can find a copy at the local library!
Was planning on doing the same, but if I can't find it I'm willing to bite the bullet and buy a used copy. I find his work quite inspiring.
Q3- I used to skip around a lot and shoot anything and everything but then over the years I guess I just found out my likes and dislikes and now I only shoot a couple of films that I know I'm really going to like the results of
I think I'm headed down the same path:)
1. IG, Google search random forums.
3. Jump around because I shoot expired film.
5. 2010/05
Fuji pro 160 expired on 2004
Help I got gifted a camera ( Samsung Fino 30 dlx ) how do I use it please bro I don’t know how to use it 😭😭
1a Flickr, contact via comments, messages and goups with serious photographers that shoot film
1b Please read the Discord privacy statements and leave it
2. Nope, better use an already existing platform (like Flickr)
3. I jump around because I have to find a replacement for Agfa Vista that has been discontinued (Still have quite some in stock though). For B&W mainly Agfa APX (100/400) for its great price/quality and otherwise Kodak and Ilford.
4. Fan Ho
1. I need to give Flickr another chance. I've been off it for years...
4. Added to my list :)
@@AwesomeCameras Have a look on Flickr for LSMart (luis) or Libero Pardini (Giuseppe). These guys breath film photography and will always answer questions
5 Mick rock Rock photographer
Rock photographer responsible for Queen album covers David Bowie Iggy Pop.
5 expiration date Kodak expired in 1998 that’s all I got. As for the 35mm film 2002
Hey dude, long time no see. Anywayz, you still fart-arsing around with film? Bro, I’ve shot film for over 40 years, but truly, that shit is dead man. Film is expensive, a pain in the arse and a waste of time and money, oh yeah, did I mention expensive. But I suppose it’s got a hip vibe, so why no just get a small mirrorless camera that looks like a a film camera and enjoy the results.
Heck ya! FLlM 4 LyFe! Death b4 digital!
Questions 4: @filmdaddiescollective they are an awesome group of photo developing, photo walking, class having photographers in LA!
Yesss! They're great! Met them at one of the camera shows!
@@AwesomeCameras You should bring them on your show. They are so cool and they have a great story.
Q1: I use RUclips and Instagram DM. I just started learnning myself to develop BW film because of your videos on RUclips
I personaly think Instagram is much better because people love to save video in their collection (I'm one of them). RUclips it is not thing anymore because, all people are want share video on Instagram and if they real want they send a DM.
P.S.I'm student and I use Inatagram for photography and graphic design (if you need any design, I can write my email). For all social media you need to post every day few post (video, photos, etc.) Because people will unfollow your from social media, I don't understand who can post every day and have happy real life.
I hope you understand me.
I definitely understand, I used to post everyday before I had my daughter. It's hard to make the time being a dad :)
@@AwesomeCameras Trust me one thing. It is better for you be with your doughter, because we all have one life to live. So many people post photos online but nobody don't print real memorires that we make with our family. I'm 24 years old, bit still I prefer to make memories (photos and videos) before posting on social media all the time.
Now what I think about social media content -> From my experience, use Instagram reels to get more views and like and all feedback. People love them and it all about them. If you need any advice how get more views, likes and etc., I send you an email. I prefer email because it would be so long for comenting
1 where do you hang out?
discord, reddit, Facebook groups
How do you find the discords you're a part of? And what are some of your favorite subreddits?
