    The only thing missing from this is after Will goes to bed, Uncle Phil comes and Carlton asks him, "If you were a policeman, and you saw a car driving 2 mph, wouldn't you stop it?" Uncle Phil replies, "I asked myself that question the first time I was stopped." That line hits harder than anything else in the episode.

    Carlton Made Me So Mad In This Episode.Will Was Trying To Tell Him And Yet Carlton Still DIDNT Get It. Basically What Will Was Saying Is Will: “Carlton,We Got Stopped Because We Are Black”

    • @craigward348
      @craigward348 2 года назад +17

      You can't blame Carlton, he was raised in a way where he never had to see any of that. His dad was a lawyer and he went to a private school. He knew exactly why he was stopped, this was just him trying to ignore it because if he accepted it as it was his whole world view would've been destroyed. It's easier to make excuses for others and to keep your own understanding of how things work than to acknowledge and accept that the world isn't all sunshine and rainbows.

  • @Kazedor
    @Kazedor 11 месяцев назад +38

    I loved Carlton part in this role. As a child, I thought he was being perfectly reasonable; I was taught in school that "The policeman is your friend, you can ask him for directions!" so when he said that I was so sure he was right. Even after he argued that "the system works!" I was prepared to take his side.
    Even then, though, Will's argument grated on my innocence and now that I know better irks me that I can no longer have that innocence, and that there are people right now suffering the inadequacies that system represents.

    • @HumorousLOL
      @HumorousLOL 3 месяца назад +2

      The problem is that the "system" isn't racist, INDIVIDUALS are. Cops don't get training on how to be as racist as possible. That's the other side of the argument. Too many people are being fed garbage that the police system itself is racist when it isn't. There are plenty of good cops that are upset when bad cops give them all a bad rap. It makes it hard for all officers to do their job when the citizens themselves are against them.

    • @MrKG204
      @MrKG204 2 месяца назад

      @@HumorousLOL Ever consider why ACAB is a popular term? Because the good cops, try as they might, are pressured into backing up their bad apples. Unless something gets national attention like the George Flloyd protests a few years ago, the bad apples continue to serve as police officers even when committing injustices. If they commit an injustice/crime, it gets swept under the rug, prosecution won't prosecute, police union does everything it can to protect the bad apple, often prevented from being sued personally as doing their job as a public servant, meaning their fuckups are paid through public taxes, and the officer gets paid leave and if really bad, just transferred to another city but still serves as an officer.
      Going back to the original point, it's that good cops fall in line and protect the bad apples (due to peer pressure). That's why people are distrusting of all police and say ACAB

    I like the difference between Carlton and Will. Will being from a city where he probably suffered from racial profiling his entire life by merely standing on a corner or walking in a nice neighborhood and Carlton Whos been sheltered his whole life and saying the system works compared to someone who’s seen the “system” in action

    • @KrisBryant99
      @KrisBryant99 Год назад

      Honestly I think they intended for the cop to be the hero of this episode because if you notice, we never get a clear view as to whose really wrong between Will or Carl. Plus they never gave us more layers to the cop to see if he's really racist in order for Will's argument to have the upper hand. So it's like what''s the point in even addressing the topic if you wont settle on a clear argument LOL

    *BALANCE* is the key.
    Content of character, not color of skin.
    Two things to add.
    1. Being black does not give white police the right to mistreat us and violate our rights.
    2. Being black DOES NOT give US the right to break the law.
    *BALANCE*
    Question, how do the police know who is committing crimes and who is not.
    If we don't allow cops to do their job, at some point the criminals will do whatever they please and society will not be safe.

    • @ashlirabid9614
      @ashlirabid9614 2 года назад

      Profiling is illegal, you can't target someone just because they have a certain skin tone unless you're actually looking for someone specifically.
      And if you're pro profiling. How come whites aren't profiled the most since they commit the most crime?
      Also the 'let police do their job' = just code for 'let the police indulge in their racist fantasies'

    I actually have been pulled over for driving too slow. They said it was "reasonable suspicion" because many drivers under the influence drive way under the speed limit because they think it'll keep them from being stopped. Obviously the message they're trying to get across here is valid... but it does happen.
